Love Balboa Mist! I painted my first floor with it (living, dining, kitchen and hallway) and I often get asked by guests which paint color it is. You can't go wrong with this one.
I think this is my favorite color palette you've ever done. Absolutely gorgeous. I think Sequoia and Dragon's Breath would look stunning together. I had already picked out Taupe of the Morning for my living room, but now I'm wondering if Balboa Mist would be better. They're so similar, but I don't know which one I like more. Tough choices!!
Yes. I agree I was looking into balboa mist as a general color on the first floor. Hall foyer living room up the stairs and bedrooms. I was going to use it to replace Navajo white. But I never got around to it. So I still have navajo white. And also the brightest white to offset it would be my choice as well. Maybe Decorator White. I totally understand why you would recommend this color a lot. It’s very versatile. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I was right with you on this palette…. And then you came to Sequoia. That combination of brown with a red flavour and that hint of purple; it gives me a “womb with a view” vibe. The rest of the palette, however, is so fresh and energizing! I would DEFINITELY use Backwoods sprinkled throughout and then as the MBR wall colour. A couple of decades ago, a professional interior house painter told me he only used BM products and I have never strayed from that recommendation. I currently live in the north (right below the Arctic Circle) and painted the entire interior of our house when we bought it in 2013. We are going to repaint this summer but only because we want to redecorate. The paint has been washed repeatedly over the past decade and looks like we just finished painting. I have to run it by my hubster, but you may have just given me my new colour palette. Just an FYI, the main colour we used in our house is BM Everlasting, which is a great tone for the walls. We have found that it morphs colours depending on the time of day and light source. I’d love to see the palette you would create based on that colour; tbh, I’m curious to see how well I did on the full palette. LOL
I want to do a contrast with this, balboa as the trim and doors and a white on the walls. I originally wanted revere pewter but now I’m thinking that will be too dark. Any thoughts?
Is Balboa Mist for me?? I want to paint the walls something neutral and not too dark that can give some depth and ground the other much more colourful stuff I'm working in...I have a deep olive-ish green couch, lots of different wood tones, yellow and burnt orange accents (cushions, art, eventually rug). But then, my apartment is basically a 45ft long room with a big southern sliding door at one end, and bright northern windows at the other. Is Balboa mist a good choice for such a situation?
Great work but please address the early 2000 use of noche granite in kitchen and walnut dark or medium dark cabinets. It seems very extravagant to tear out the kitchen granite, and drastic to paint over lovely but out dated cabinets. Also yellow beige large floor tiles all through the house what paint color should I pick? Beige always looks green. Gray is a bit weird
I'm glad you brought that up.... I'm in the business and I have heard that same comment from at least 3 customers. All light makes a difference in how paint colors are perceived, of course....but I think the "purpling" effect on Balboa Mist MAY come from North facing windows. 🤷♀️
@@trumax33 We were very careful. We sampled about 30, got our favorite 4 in quarts. What we chose (Behr Dove) cured to PINK in about 2 weeks (though it’s not supposed to be taupe). We repainted with Valspar Gracious (orange undertone) so we wouldn’t get pink or purple undertones. So many paint colors have tricky undertones!
It did the same in our space as well. We had our spacious open concept main rooms painted BM last May. We have floor to ceiling windows all along the entire west side of our home and ample easterly windows. The color looked beautiful during the evening hours but all through the day, the color shifted to varying degrees of bluish purple. I loved it at night, hated it during the day!! 2 weeks ago, less than a year later, we had it repainted with Edgecomb gray.

What color window coverings did you go with?
This might be my new favorite main color ❤
Absolutely LOVE Sequoia & Blackwoods! Thank you. Love this color pallet!
My whole house is balboa mist. It reads like a soft taupe to me, very atmospheric.

Love Dragon's Breath and Backwoods. Wish I had rooms that got enough natural light to use them. Altogether lovely palette.

Love it! 💕
What ceiling color would you use with balboa mist on walls and super white trim?
BM always has the best greens!
Omg 😱 one of my favorites! I have this in my lower kitchen and bedroom- balboa mist

What sheen should I use? Satin?
Can you recommend a good Greige off white colour for cupboards please and thank you. My husband wants blue on bottom 💙 anything you can suggested?
My bedroom is Dragon’s Breath. The room has south facing windows which brings out the bit of green. It’s very cozy.
Are you happy with it in the bedroom? What did you pair with it? I'm hoping to pair it with a pale blush-type color like maybe Cashmere.

Love, love Backwoods!
Could you please do a video on Benjamin Moore's #446 Pinelands? I am thinking about painting a dining room cabinet this color. Thank you!!!

Sounds like it would be a strong contender! Maybe try testing it out if you can!

Does balboa mist work with golden oak trim?
We used Dragon's Breath on our front door--We loved it!
Do you get a taupe sensibility from it? I want to do a dark taupe accent wall in my master bedroom and haven't found the right hue.
Would you do one of these for exterior?
I'm loving your input! I have a 100 y0 house that needs paint and want Balboa Mist! I hope you ageww?
I LOVE THIS PALETTE ❤ …with the exception of dragon’s breath.
PLEASE show us other neutrals with creamy yellow, pink, or blue undertones. 😊
Backwoods is a pretty dark green
I don't like any of them except Backwoods but then I'm a major grayter.
Balboa Mist turned purple in our space, so we chose something else. 👍🏻

Balboa mist is a beautiful color, bit you must be very careful of undertones. This color will read lavender in certain lighting.
This year is the year of the moody colours backwoods and sequoia...
Boring color, but great for selling the house
Too boring and safe
Kinda boring colour schemes.
