This is a collaboration between Omega AND Swatch. I think people really forgetting Swatch here and people who like swatches love this watch IMO. I know it's the same group, but this isn't a Speedmaster contracted out to Swatch, it's Swatch's usual boundry/tech/industry pushing style mixed with Omega. it's meant to be worn, abused, and be worn regularly. Anyone who has been a long time swatch fan/wearer is already familiar with that.
I've owned swatches in every price range for almost three decades (since I was a kid) and it's a refreshing design collaboration with what I expect from Swatch. You should wear this watch as often as possible and basically beat the watch into the ground, then throw on some polywatch clear up the watch face and keep on going until the thing is dead. This is not meant to be babied and coveted and saved for your grandkids.
Given Swatch's unfortunate increase in pricing, its price tag isn't that crazy either. They're not that much more expensive than system and irony and have the Omega style that pushes them over the edge that a regular Omega doesn't have.

On a side note, I think this was kind of expected. The only reason behind this move for omega and Swatch is to capitalize in an Omega brand with Swatch (or less) quality. It wouldn't make sense to offer a good value for money option and use this marketing, the marketing itself is being used for attracting people to a sub-par watch that needs that name to hold itself. The only reason that I would find for the opposite would be if it was to maybe gain long time user loyalty from new watch buyers buying the moonswatch as their first watch.

You cannot compare this watch to the actual speed master those are two completely different watches. This falls into the category of a wonderful collectible of swatch, that is legitimately by brand and omega watch. Fun video, I gave it a like! As someone who started their watch collection journey with Swatch in the 1980s, owning some rather rare pieces (including an unworn 1983 Men's prototype), my journey into collecting has took me to own a Planet Ocean, GMT Master II and various other wonderful timepieces. The closest Swatch store for me? 1,557 Miles or 2505 kilometers). I wanted a Mission to Mercury because I LIKED THE WATCH. They are made to enjoy. Collecting Swatch watches misses the point of ownership to an extent-You wouldn't wear a Speedmaster every day either if you were a factory worker. Enjoyment is the thing missing from ownership and collecting, and these had that balance for me. I will always be careful with most of my watches, but I don't care what it's worth later-I spent the money to enjoy RIGHT NOW. I refuse to regret my purchase, and will continue to enjoy all 67 watches I own...Cheers!

... Having just acquired The Mission To The Moon model I'm absolutely blown away with it! Was it / Is it still the hype god knows but OMG when I first opened the box and put it on my wrist it's been a very long time since I've ever felt about a watch in a very very long time! I own a Rolex Sub, BB58 and Tags etc but eventually getting my hands on this silly little plastic watch beats them all hands down just for the novelty reason and exclusivity too! Yes ok I have to baby the Bio ceramic watch I only ever wear it for going out / for best etc. I never have it near water and I don't sleep with it on either. I'm actually that impressed with it so much I've literally just bought the Mission To Mercury one too so I can swap them about and not wear them both out lol. I love the straps as well ok there not the best quality I must admit but the design and function says it all to me. Again for me it's about being different as I've only ever seen one person wear one in Meadowhall. No matter were you go or places you visit Rolex, Tudor and Co are here there and everywhere on people's wrists there gen to a penny this day and age. Now a MoonSwatch is in a complete league of its own just for it's exclusivity reasons? lol

After a tip from a friend I just got the last Moon version they had in the local store yesterdat - at least at the moment don't know if they'll get more. Hope they'll discontinue them soon.
But I got no intentions of wearing it. Bought it purely as a collectors item.
I also got a Rolex Kermit like 15 years ago - very minimally I've worn it. Though I work in an office I don't like wearing too expensive watches and not too cheap. For decades my daily drivers has been Casio radio controlled - the last in titanium and sapphire. I want my watches to be functional and hassle free. I often find cheap quartz to swim too much over a year when you're dependent on public transport for work. Mechanicals are sure not precise enough to my taste. Got a few other mechanicals as well but they're abot collectors items as well except perhaps for a special occasion. These days my daily watch is Samsung Watch. Sure there's the hassle of charging but accurate thanks to network synchronisation and it comes with added benefits that traditional watches don't - perfect for office use.
But yeah. Plastics is not a great material for watches. Steel, titanium, real ceramics and/or tungsten carbide (actually also a ceramic) is the way to go. Had they only made the moon version in steel (same movement etc. just a steel case) it would have been really awesome.

The hype behind it really died once I got home. It's cool to wear when I'm on vacation because I wear brighter colors to match the watch but the hype died quick. I paid $240 for a plastic watch that's not a real speed master. I get it, its a swatch and not omega but my expectations were a lil high. However, I find value in its quirkiness and the willingness of Omega to pair up with a low-end brand like Swatch to create marketing genius. It is a low cost sort of replica of the real Speedmaster. The quality level is not near to that of a Casio G-Shock in the same price range even though a Casio G-Shock does not look like this. The Casio is in a metalized composite type case with a mineral glass.
Omega should have done a better job on this watch for the money charged, or maybe charge a bit more for better quality. I have an original Speedmaster Mark II professional I bought in 1974. It is the version with the sapphire crystal. I get it maintained every 5 years or so by the local Omega service. It looks like new and runs like new. Back in 1974, I paid over $1200 CDN for it. Great watch! About 7 years ago I bought myself the Omega Planet Ocean. Another great watch! Easy to read, and it's terrific. I put it a NATO strap on it.
For regular wearing when doing work around the home or being physically active I some Casio G-Shocks that I wear. Right now I am wearing the GWG-2000 Casio watch. I also have some other high end G-Shock watches. I like the solar versions. No battery to worry about.

I like it and I want one. Plenty of other people still want one so that means I can't buy one so I've put it out of my mind. Someday, maybe years in the future, if it actually becomes available for me to buy one I might buy one, or I might be over it by then. I won't pay over MSRP for it, I won't buy it from a scalper on the internet. I'm sorry but your points are at the same time valid and silly.
I don't think anyone who knows a little about watches exptected this watch to "replace Speed master".
We all know what to expect from Swatch watches.
Omega brings to this colaboration their logo and Speedmaster design.
    Swatch brings cheap quartz platform.
I think for anyone who likes Speedmaster and legacy that comes with Omega logo, the retail price is perfect. I would not pay for it 500$ which seems to be regular price online these days. But if you can get it at retail value. It's great.
Your videos about the alternatives are pointless because there is no alternative for this colab. There are loads of different chronograph watches for sure. Actual Bulova moon watch (if you have a hand for it). But that's not the point. I don't think anyone who is interested in buying this is looking for a chronograph. They are looking for this chronograph.
Despite all yoru shitting on it. You can't deny that it looks freaking awesome 3:23 2:49. And that look is pretty much synonymous with Omega speedmaster.

I have a moonswatch and I love it. Manageing the expectation (on a $250 watch) would help appreciating this playful collab.

I opted to collect real divers instead. About to reach my 20th piece and I am more happy. Still thinking to get the mission to the 🌚. Or the special edition one. Greed is good once it is discontinued sure the price will be creeping faster than expected.
Nevertheless, if you like the watch buy it. I wouldn’t for now. Speed master though is one of my goal. If finished collecting all Seiko divers I love. I am still buying and flipping some items I deem not to be not for me. Started with just Orient Kamasu and now on my fifth prospex series so far. Ended up selling prior entry watches to give way to more personally loved pieces. With age comes different taste. But I think some time pieces as timeless. A part from the expensive swiss made watches. Seiko offers tons of iconic watches that I can see will be timeless pieces soon. SKX, 62 MAS, Captain Willard, SLA, all Japanese named Prospex/PADI/ Marine (sumo, samurai, tuna, monster, turtle, Shogun), Marine Masters and others.
To each his own. Swatch though overpriced for its specs will be nice collections once the manufacturing stops thats for sure. Best thing to do is to buy it and keep them on prestine condition to flip them in several years now if they don’t decompose before price appreciation. With bioceramic , it is yet to know if it will stand the test of time and by that moment we can say if it is all worth the hustles going for long cues

Dunno, I still like it. The journey was a tough one, but those who endure ultimately come out on top and snagged a Mercury (my favourite, I actually think the grey on the Moon version is a weird blueish hue and looks nothing like the stainless steel it's trying to mimmick) after months at the Swatch Boutique (in Vienna :P ).
For what it is, it's fine. Just don't expect the world from it and see it as 'another Swatch' rather than 'an Omega on the cheap'.
At first I didn't actually wear it a whole lot and had put it on an alternative strap, now I wear it with its retail band quite often. It's a no-brainer 'what to throw on wrist?'-watch due to Quartz always already running on time when slapping it on, but you don't have a big central seconds hand to give you the Quartz-tick-cringe. Got a Mars edition as well. It was a bit like Pokémon Go, forcing you to go out and try to find some. When you do it's quite rewarding. But I've got to see the scalpers game played by Philipinos real up close and it kinda spoils the fun. I would've prefered a 1x per person per week or month rule and using waiting lists to fill backorder slots. Now it's the same gangs just taking all the precious ones upon daily deliveries...

Imho, paying anything over $1000 for a watch is just plain ridiculous, and this is coming from a watch enthusiast. At the end of the day a watch is archaic technology that will - at max - cost $500 to make unless they ice the F out of them.

We were in London last week and happened to pass the Swatch store. There was a poor woman standing next to the Moonswatch display case telling people they weren't in stock. Frankly I was shocked at how they looked in the case, very disappointing. There were much nicer watches in the store for £100 less.

Bang on with that mate. I was looking around the swatch store I went in and saw a good 10 watches that presented better value and quite frankly looked better too. The biggest hype watch of 2022 is offering the least for the cash. Thanks for watching and commenting mate 💪
