Bjarne skate 3 feels lifeless to me being able to run fast down massive ramps and hills and looks wonky af, if they improved skate 2’s walking physics to make our character a little quicker, the ability to roll in like in skate 3 and to fling the board up to catch it would do the trick imo
@Hunter Thompson yea but there was a lot of improvements that got put in skate 3 like park building and improved photo shoots so if ea could make a game like skate 2 with these improvements it would be the beat game ever
Personally, my favorite is skate 2. Simply because the map is more casual and more immersive. And the map is made for street skating, which I love to do.
Yeah, I definetly agree. The skate 2 map is much better and more chill. But I havent been able to get my hands on a copy or digital version of skate 2, Im still trying hard to find one.
Skate 2 had the literal best bails. In Skate 1 he acted like a literal corpse and Skate 3 he WAS to stiff. Skate 2 felt like there was real weight to your character.
Definitely the one that feels like it had the most passion put into it. From the soundtrack, to the ambience, to the game world, everything just feels more perfect than in Skate 2 and 3.
Also, the details were so precise in Skate 1 that if you change the hardness of your wheels, it sounds different when you powerslide. That's insane attention to detail. Check it out. You'll be amazed.

I think the added tricks and abilities in 2, along with better character customization was the best part, but I think the changes to the map are the weakest part for me. I think the first game has by far the best map. Every part of it that was changed in skate 2 like the waterfront, Monster Park, The golden look of Old Town, The Stacks, the dam - none of these additions feel like a worthy replacement of what was already there. The Res and Suburbs have always been my favourite, so atleast they kept The Res for skate 2, even though they replaced the art gallery. But when you compare the first two games and then look at skate 3, it's so clear that they had so little time to make a good game out of it, even though I'd argue more time wouldn't have fixed the majority of the things I don't like about it. The lighting is super flat and the graphics look super cartoony because of it. There was little to no changes in the gameplay aside from the darkslide/under-flip stuff which is neither here nor there. The map is awful, with how oversized everything is - obviously catering to a larger demographic of kids that liked the 'megaramps' from the first game (which you can see starting to leak into what was changed in skate 2). I remember when they said the map was going to be in 3 parts but not to worry because overall it would be the biggest - pfftttt. You get so sick of freeskating in skate 3, whereas I'm still finding new lines and small details from the intricate level design of the first 2 games all these years later. I honestly think the only good improvements of skate 3 were the character creation and park builder. I wish they kept items in a 'per-brand' layout like the first game instead of having to scroll through all the 't-shirts' or all the 'boards' etc. But none the less, there's a lot to choose from and doesn't feel as dated as the fashion choices are in the first game. I like that they have the style editor, to change up the physics animations while you play - which was actually in the first game but you could only choose right at the beginning of the game then you were stuck with it - then removed completely in skate 2. I think create a park is the only thing that brings me back to skate 3, and only once you use merge glitch. As everything in the game, everything is oversized, but atleast with merge glitch you can work around it and make some surprisingly good stuff that I can't imagine the dev team would have ever imagined possible. Still, it's at a fairly infant stage and I think a sequel leaves huge room for improvement to make it even better.... Man, I have a lot of strong feelings about this franchise haha

I wish you could get off your board and be able to walk and run in skate 1 and the added tricks in 2 and I would never play another skateboarding game probably haha I am literally so happy skate. @@treydavlogger4557 its not confirmed to be skate 4. just that its a new installment in the skate series. for all we know it could be the mobile port of skate 3 that has been leaked. or it could just be a remaster of the trilogy. until we get more info i wouldnt call it skate 4 but we all know thats most likely what it is.

Skate 1 graphics seemed to be the most consistently good. Some parts of the video skate 2 or 3 looked better and other parts they looked kinda gross. Skate 1 just seemed to always look pretty good to great
We need a “remaster” release for current gen. A literal repack of all three in one would suffice, but they could go so many directions with it. Honestly a lot of us would be pretty happy getting to skate the first two maps with Skate 3 controls/physics/camera.

Skate 1 looks the most polished to me because of things like lighting and reflections, which I guess they had to tone down a lot to get the later games to run at a higher framerate.
The second he lands in the switch crook on Skate 3 he stops looking at the grind, which looks so unnatural considering he popped off the tail. I agree in Skate 1 it looks so much better.
Skate 1 has the best feel to me, skate 2 looks the best and is probably the best game, and skate 3 has the hardcore mode and more tricks. I can never pick just one game I love them all
Skate 1 was my favorite. It was more immersive. Both the polish and soundtrack made it unique. Also, it seemed to be the closest to a skating simulator. You could argue it was ahead of its time. Recreating it with walking and graphics boost would be 🔥
Skate. has a better skateboarding feel because the rotations of the board and your character. If skate 2 had better walking and a park builder it be the best skate game.
Watching them side by side, I kind of feel like the animations feel the smoothest in S1. S2 is still my favorite though. The only thing I hate it that yellow tint in the lighting for most places. Like it feels like it's supposed to be going for a sunset feel, which is cool, but it just feels more like everything is being viewed through a filter. But that might just be me. Either way, the one thing I did love about S3 was the difficulty modes. Once you start playing Hardcore, it's hard to go back(unless you have problems with a challenge and decide to just get it done on easy).
I think each game has their own individual strengths that people always point out when debating which game is the best. I believe if they combined all of these strengths into one game and eliminated the weaknesses it would make for an endlessly fun experience.
Skate 2 is my favorite what I really like about skate 1 and 2 though is the sounds when you do tricks and land them and I really like the realistic looks in both game skate 3 just had a huge downgrade.

Man those reflection on Skate 1 look great, 8:10 the difference between 1 and 3 is crazy not sure how they made it look so bad maybe be for technical reasons?
If Skate 1 had a high camera angle, it'd be the best of all three. It's that simple. The feel and design of that game were untouchable. Skate 2 was ruined by that disgusting brown/green gradient over everything.
Skate 3 has more detailed textures but the lighting is too bright and washes away the realism. Skate 1's textures are blurry but the lighting made it look more realistic
The thing that i most like on skate 2 is the colors, the bright of skate 3 is soo dead to me, but the dark colors on skate 2 are perfect! I never imagine that the original skate having better reflection than the others...
Everytime i see a skate 2 video from you i have to go an play it. The world feels so much bigger and everything in it is more realistic. Im still finding new spots and different lines everytime i play. But then ill see a christian owens video and have to go back to 3 to make a park 😂. Best of both worlds

Seems like they focused a lot on environment details in Skate 1. The way the character moves in 3 is so smooth and polished but they lighting isn’t as great.
I remember getting skate 1 I loved it even though it didn’t have the feature of getting off your board it was still amazing so much nostalgia and I think skate 1 is the best with also having x games 🔥 also I want it to be backwards compatible on x box one🔥
Skate 1 With the added tricks and clothes in 2 and 3 and all the soundtracks merged and being able to get off your board and run and walk around would make it (in my opinion) the best skateboarding game to ever exist even though to me it already is barely beating out skate 2. Idk I just love the feel and graphics and map in skate 1 so much it feels and looks and plays beautifully and just I don't even know how to explain it. I love the 1st game so much and am glad they made it backwards compatible on xbox one finally. Still wish they had made 2 backwards compatible so the whole series would be, but I'm fine with still hooking up my xbox 360 and playing it there when I wanna play something besides the 1st one :)) Skate 2 is good and I love the map but just idk skate. Is just so much better to me. I only played this one more than the original for a few years because I could get off my board and walk up stairs instead of skating around for a while looking for another way up and all the newly added tricks that were awesome and the new soundtrack. Skate 3 I don't even know how to talk about. Hated having shingo be the camera guy, hated the camera and graphics and a lot not all but a lot of the map and how it all felt so small compact and tight and not beautiful at all. I loved the soundtrack and customization choices though as in a lot more clothes and boards and such. The only one that kept me on this one for as long as it did is that this is the only one a lot of my friends bought so I only really played with them on this one cause they all viewed it as the newest game in the series so it must be the best because games only go uphill as the series goes on right?? Which has been proven untrue in like every single series ever.. I told them what goes up.. must come down. Yet only 1 of them ever bought 1 and 2 and I never played with him on those but at least he now knows why I love the others so much. Anyways that is my say so on this series I could say a lot more but this is just a RUclips comment that I don't even know if it'll be read by anyone but I hope if someone does they tell me their thoughts. Skate 1 i think have the most cozy grapichs a moody game overall. And skate 2 is more hard and harsh and dark with it's colors and last skate 3 is to birght and happy grapichs it just feels odd.
Skate 2, the only game where you can blunt stall to fakie and actually tap the coping with your front truck on the way down. If i try hard enough I can get everything really tight in a way that would never happen in skate 3. Also its possible to manual narrow ledges in Skate 2 which is virtually impossible in skate 3. Finally something that none of the games got right was dropping back in, even with the most locked in stall on skate 2, the foot stamp animation triggers a good 3 seconds after you come out of the grind. I cant skate mini properly until they fix this.
yeah, skate 2's grind magnet was perfect. in skate 1, and 3 normal/easy it pulls you in too much, and in skate 3 hardcore it seems to pull you over the ledge.
Skate 1 had the most realistic feel of the world. Skate 2 had the best map. Skate 3 has the best features. I want Skate 4 to have all of these plus the maps from all the games (or at least the major plazas and skateparks). If they do that, I'll be totally happy with it. FWIW: Skate 2 is the game that got me to embrace multiplayer. Got an xbox live subscription for the first time for that game. Online freeskate was super chill in 2.
yeah, i'm playing it on rpcs3, i think it's my favourite map, and has good physics, like they fixed skate 3's physics and made it more like skate 1. the challenges are real hard in that one, especially since the pick-a-pro is broken on the emulator.

IMO Flat ground tricks & grinding on skate 1 are the best out of the series, skate 2 & 3 take the cake in vert & transition skating that’s where skate 1 feels clunky
Great vid. I definitely miss the feel and look of Skate 1. The city was awesome too, so many good spots. Skate 3 physics are great but the city is horrible and the lighting is horrible. I was so excited for Skate 1 when it first came out. It’s so sad they haven’t done a next gen Skate.
So sick to see them all together compared like that. Skate 2 with good physics and a park editor would be a dream game. It almost seems as though they didn’t really want to improve much in skate 3 other than the physics but then again, that could just be because it’s rushed.
I like the more realistic feel and look so skate. And skate 2 have always been a nostalgic better looking game in my opinion. Still love skate 3 though lol
Never got to play skate 3. Still playing skate 2 and I'm so disappointed to see most people in the comments in favor of skate 2. The mechanics are SO janky and inconsistent. I'm so sick of trying to do simple tricks and not getting consistent results, or bailing for seemingly no reason. I had been thinking about getting skate 3 assuming that it made improvements, but I guess it's not worth it (especially with skate 4 coming out).
I don't know what it is about skate 3 but I get so bored skating around the map; skate 1 and 2 the map felt like you could go anywhere and stop at a spot and skate there for a while and move on to the next spot or skatepark, but skate 3's world is just so uninspired to me.
somehow they made Skate 2 look worse than Skate 1, and then made Skate 3 look worse than Skate 2. You say that "they added details", but it's just slightly better textures? I mean the resolution of these textures. And in reality there are less details, and some spots look much more flat than in Skate 1

Like it feels like it's supposed to be going for a sunset feel, which is cool, but it just feels more like everything is being viewed through a filter. But that might just be me.
Either way, the one thing I did love about S3 was the difficulty modes. Once you start playing Hardcore, it's hard to go back(unless you have problems with a challenge and decide to just get it done on easy).
Skate 1 is the most realistic and best looking one.
I think each game has their own individual strengths that people always point out when debating which game is the best. I believe if they combined all of these strengths into one game and eliminated the weaknesses it would make for an endlessly fun experience.
Skate 2 is my favorite what I really like about skate 1 and 2 though is the sounds when you do tricks and land them and I really like the realistic looks in both game skate 3 just had a huge downgrade.

Man those reflection on Skate 1 look great, 8:10 the difference between 1 and 3 is crazy not sure how they made it look so bad maybe be for technical reasons?
If Skate 1 had a high camera angle, it'd be the best of all three. It's that simple. The feel and design of that game were untouchable. Skate 2 was ruined by that disgusting brown/green gradient over everything.
Skate 3 has more detailed textures but the lighting is too bright and washes away the realism. Skate 1's textures are blurry but the lighting made it look more realistic
The thing that i most like on skate 2 is the colors, the bright of skate 3 is soo dead to me, but the dark colors on skate 2 are perfect! I never imagine that the original skate having better reflection than the others...

nah, people seemed to teleport at you downhill with skate 1's camera. skate 3's low camera with less rumble at high speeds is the best.
I just got Skate 2 and I really dislike the camera, so yeah, somethings different.
Everytime i see a skate 2 video from you i have to go an play it. The world feels so much bigger and everything in it is more realistic. Im still finding new spots and different lines everytime i play. But then ill see a christian owens video and have to go back to 3 to make a park 😂. Best of both worlds

Seems like they focused a lot on environment details in Skate 1. The way the character moves in 3 is so smooth and polished but they lighting isn’t as great.
nah, skate 3 feels stiff as hell. after playing a lot of skate 3 and then downloading 1, i was like "woah" after just grinding a rail.

Skate 1 With the added tricks and clothes in 2 and 3 and all the soundtracks merged and being able to get off your board and run and walk around would make it (in my opinion) the best skateboarding game to ever exist even though to me it already is barely beating out skate 2. Idk I just love the feel and graphics and map in skate 1 so much it feels and looks and plays beautifully and just I don't even know how to explain it. I love the 1st game so much and am glad they made it backwards compatible on xbox one finally. Still wish they had made 2 backwards compatible so the whole series would be, but I'm fine with still hooking up my xbox 360 and playing it there when I wanna play something besides the 1st one :))
Skate 2 is good and I love the map but just idk skate. Is just so much better to me. I only played this one more than the original for a few years because I could get off my board and walk up stairs instead of skating around for a while looking for another way up and all the newly added tricks that were awesome and the new soundtrack.
Skate 3 I don't even know how to talk about. Hated having shingo be the camera guy, hated the camera and graphics and a lot not all but a lot of the map and how it all felt so small compact and tight and not beautiful at all. I loved the soundtrack and customization choices though as in a lot more clothes and boards and such. The only one that kept me on this one for as long as it did is that this is the only one a lot of my friends bought so I only really played with them on this one cause they all viewed it as the newest game in the series so it must be the best because games only go uphill as the series goes on right?? Which has been proven untrue in like every single series ever.. I told them what goes up.. must come down. Yet only 1 of them ever bought 1 and 2 and I never played with him on those but at least he now knows why I love the others so much. Anyways that is my say so on this series I could say a lot more but this is just a RUclips comment that I don't even know if it'll be read by anyone but I hope if someone does they tell me their thoughts. Goodnight world and all who inhabit it.
Skate 1 i think have the most cozy grapichs a moody game overall. And skate 2 is more hard and harsh and dark with it's colors and last skate 3 is to birght and happy grapichs it just feels odd.
Skate 2, the only game where you can blunt stall to fakie and actually tap the coping with your front truck on the way down. If i try hard enough I can get everything really tight in a way that would never happen in skate 3. Also its possible to manual narrow ledges in Skate 2 which is virtually impossible in skate 3.
Finally something that none of the games got right was dropping back in, even with the most locked in stall on skate 2, the foot stamp animation triggers a good 3 seconds after you come out of the grind. I cant skate mini properly until they fix this.
yeah, skate 2's grind magnet was perfect. in skate 1, and 3 normal/easy it pulls you in too much, and in skate 3 hardcore it seems to pull you over the ledge.

I want Skate 4 to have all of these plus the maps from all the games (or at least the major plazas and skateparks). If they do that, I'll be totally happy with it.
FWIW: Skate 2 is the game that got me to embrace multiplayer. Got an xbox live subscription for the first time for that game. Online freeskate was super chill in 2.

yeah, i'm playing it on rpcs3, i think it's my favourite map, and has good physics, like they fixed skate 3's physics and made it more like skate 1. the challenges are real hard in that one, especially since the pick-a-pro is broken on the emulator.

Skate 2 is my all time favorite. Big Map, you always find something new and there’s path exploration. Each of place has a gritty old ghetto feel.

I have a feeling that skate 1 is dark, skate 2 is a little yellow and skate 3 is normal, but i like dark skate 1 atmosphere
i feel like skate 1 looks like the 80's or early 90's, skate 2 looks like the late 90's / early 2000's, and skate 3 looks modern day.
IMO Flat ground tricks & grinding on skate 1 are the best out of the series, skate 2 & 3 take the cake in vert & transition skating that’s where skate 1 feels clunky

Great vid. I definitely miss the feel and look of Skate 1. The city was awesome too, so many good spots. Skate 3 physics are great but the city is horrible and the lighting is horrible. I was so excited for Skate 1 when it first came out. It’s so sad they haven’t done a next gen Skate.

So sick to see them all together compared like that. Skate 2 with good physics and a park editor would be a dream game. It almost seems as though they didn’t really want to improve much in skate 3 other than the physics but then again, that could just be because it’s rushed.

Never got to play skate 3. Still playing skate 2 and I'm so disappointed to see most people in the comments in favor of skate 2. The mechanics are SO janky and inconsistent. I'm so sick of trying to do simple tricks and not getting consistent results, or bailing for seemingly no reason. I had been thinking about getting skate 3 assuming that it made improvements, but I guess it's not worth it (especially with skate 4 coming out).
I don't know what it is about skate 3 but I get so bored skating around the map; skate 1 and 2 the map felt like you could go anywhere and stop at a spot and skate there for a while and move on to the next spot or skatepark, but skate 3's world is just so uninspired to me.
These games need to be remade or remastered for modern consoles, all three of them.
No, just Skate 4 should implement every great aspect of this 3 parts, and add some good stuff extra, and it would be fine.

somehow they made Skate 2 look worse than Skate 1, and then made Skate 3 look worse than Skate 2. You say that "they added details", but it's just slightly better textures? I mean the resolution of these textures. And in reality there are less details, and some spots look much more flat than in Skate 1

one of the corners of the map there is a movable table kicker, move that in front of the fence and just gap over it
