  • My biggest camera lens purchase regret in life is not fixed. I can rest in peace lol. A young and foolish camera conspiracies in 2017 made one of the dumbest lens purchases of all time. Going with the Mitakon 25mm f0.95 over the Leica 25mm f1.4. I paid more for the much worse Mitakon, and it haunted me for years. Well today, we right the ship! The Leica has returned to where it belonged all along, in my heart. The ultimate combo of Olympus EM1 III with Leica 25mm, vs the Panasonic 25mm f1.7. Can I vlog with it? Is there 3d pop?
If you buy today's gear through my affiliate links, you can be a Leica snob like me. Even though Leica probably had nothing to do with the making of this lens other than to lend Panasonic some rubber for the focus ring, I'm in love :)

Fun to watch how this all developed in 5 years.
My advice was to wait for the GH5 and try the better AF Panasonic was promising that time. But the G85 and the Mitakon was already fixed. Not the best decision but on the other hand, with a GH5 and the better AF-S the Camera Conspiraies Channel would probably never have materialized.

This Channel should be renamed 'buyer's remorse'.
As a gear-head I have come to accept that there is no perfect camera, no perfect lens... in fact no perfect anything.
Craving the next purchase is flawed egoic thinking, living for tomorrow instead of for today.
Make friends with this moment and you will realise you have what you need, and ironically once you cease to 'need' more, that is when it will all come to you.
    Peace out my friend.

I just got the 25 F1.4 for $249 from MBP in excellent condition after originally ordering the f1.7. Both are really good. I actually own one camera and one lens so decided to spring for the extra, like having the slightly faster F stop. Also even though it's heavier by about 1.5 ounces it is the same size as the f1.7. Anyone would be happy with either one but for me it was only about $120 more so I went for it and I love it.

A terrific camera - with a learning curve required to achieve very good performance in video AFC. Suggestion: If vlogging, set your video AF settings at + 3 for both Speed and Sensitivity. For studio/talking head stuff, reduce the Speed to 0 or +1, which minimizes the pulsing. If vlogging, I set my AF mode to 1-Area, with human detection turned on, and then adjust the box size to its smallest size or one size larger. This seems to allow the camera to acquire focus almost instantly. Video AFC does work on these cameras, but does require some testing and adjusting. Disclaimer; I use only native Panasonic/Lumix lenses for video work, as I've read non-native items tend to focus slower with AFC, although instantly in AFS. Enjoy, it's an awesome camera.

Me no Leica! Had one (Mark 1), it arrived yesterday, tried it out at home on my G9 and decided immediately to return it. It was louder than a draw full of knives & forks, Wow, talk about 'lens chatter' - BUT, it was razor sharp wide open and it hurts to have to return it. So, now I'm really tempted to get the Mark II - but will it be just as noisy, I ask myself. That's the drawback with MFT, you have to buy the best glass or else.

You could have used Panasonic’s app to focus on yourself from a distance. The remote access feature gives you the same ability to click on yourself and focus. Not saying the Olympus isn’t a better option when it comes to AF, but it wouldn’t have been impossible with the G9.

@@cameraconspiracies OMG senpai noticed me!!! Can I just say, I've been a fan for over a year and I can't lie, I got a Panny because of your videos despite you repeatedly trashing them (what can I say, I love the look :') But yeah, tried the tap and lock, problem is as soon as my subject moves, I lose them... This is on AFS (single point), is there a better setting I should try? Thank you so much for the reply, love you dude!

      @@HappyWater45 Panasonic sucks at tracking.

@@HappyWater45 You need to turn off "Continuous AF" in "Movie" settings to get true AFS. But it remains static even if you switch to AFC (don't ask, I don't know). And then you can tap to focus, but the G95 is a fair bit faster than the G85 so it probably won't be as comfortable.

@@AoyagiAichou Hey, really appreciate the advice! Actually Continuous AF has been off, I think someone else mentioned it in another video, idk, but yeah it's definitely a thing. Unfortunately however, still can't keep the focus on a moving subject, particularly one walking towards the camera. What about AF Mode in the Quick Menu, should it be in Tracking? Mine is usually on 1-Area (heard someone saying that one is pretty reliable but I don't think it works well on moving subjects once again). Thanks once again!
