The TD-30 is still VERY much alive & kicking. Here are 20 amazing new kits you should download to bring new life to your trusty old TD-30.
Even today, 4 years after being discontinued and replaced by the Roland TD-50, the TD-30 is still a killer e-drum module and proudly holds its ground with spot on triggering and beautiful sounds. (And that AMBIENCE SLIDER!)
And for us it was a lot of fun (and time, and sweat, and arguing, and testing, and... 😉) to revisit and play the life out of the TD-30 to create 20 kits you can use to really show off your skills with everything the module has to offer.
We went deep into it and messed with even the obscurest of settings to give you kits that'll make you fall in love with your TD-30 all over again. We sure did!
⏩ Download the Real Acoustics Sound Edition today: drumt.ec/td-30-acoustic-kits
This demo is played on one of our beautiful drum-tec pro series electronic drum kits (and you can spot a little 6" diabolo fx pad in there too).

8:15 starclassic kit - magnificent sound
Thumbs up if you think the DRUMMER is better than the sounds from the module!!!!! What's crazy is - The sounds in the module are SUPER DOPE!!!! 🔥 Ya'll seriously need to sell a MIDI loop pack from his performances!!!!
Thank you very much for your positive feedback! :)
the drummer is amazing
Thank you very much! :)
This is the first time I’ve actually wanted an e kit, so amazing!
Amazing drumming as always Ralf! Still running my TD-30 here - I’m tempted. Cheers!
Thank you John! :)
Great sound of all kits!!!!! Amazing Job!!! Real acoustic sounds without any thought of elecronic !! You just make the difference here !!
Thank you very much Stamatis! :)
YEAH ! AT LEAST ! Great good sound ! Excellent and incredible drumming as usual ! Many thanks guys !
Thank you very much Jean-Marie! :)
Great drumming Ralf. Last kit, Jazz groove is hot.
Thank you Vic, glad you liked it! :)
Very nice kit, love the 6'' tom.
Been thinking about what module to get to upgrade my TD-11 and definitely think this video is telling me which one to get, sounds better than pretty much every other module out their besides the mimic
One of the better Ekits I've heard for sure. Sure beats my TD17!
5:58 that little fill is so nasty
as always insane drumming
Thank you! :)
That DW Big Maple is perfection!
This Kit looks 🔥
I’m here for the drumming. (Typo). Also kits sound GREAT.
Thank you Dave! :)
That Yamaha MLP Custom kit sounds amazing 🤘🤘🤘
Getting better
Your Gretchen male snare is excellent Yamaha custom too. Great demo as usuall.
Thanks Greg!
Guauuu!!! what a sound!!!! Perfect!!!
such good drumming!
Thank you Valentin! :)
My first ekit was a TD30. I loved it until I discovered 2Box drum module where I had all these Superior Drummer 2 kits on the module itself. It sounded incredible, so much better and natural acoustic sounding drums. Now I have a Pearl Mimic Pro module which IMO is the best module ever made samples wise. Comes equipped with Steven Slate drums 5 samples. Incredible, layout is nice, touch screen LCD screen. Love it
Mimic Pro sounds amazing! $2500 for just the module. Yikes!
Is this guy somehow quantizing his drum recordings? He never misses a single beat
;-D Hey Ferry, thank you, no there´s no quantizing or further editing in the demo videos. Kind regards!
Not gonna lie it sounds sick
Me gusta el sonido que lograron en los platillos
I just downloaded the kits. This sound edition brings my TD-30 to a whole new level! I was considering making an upgrade to the TD-50. But with these kits, there is no need. A great variaty of usefull sounds, getting the most out of the module!
Thank you for your positive feedback, great to hear that & happy drumming! :)
reteip2 where do i get this down load? I have the TD30 as well and not looking to upgrade to the 50

Roland just keeps getting better! Sounds amazing! Wish my Roland TD 20 sounded that good 🤣😂🤘🤘

So amazing sir
Thank you!
This... Sounds better than the TD50 in a lot of ways. You should do a back to back comparison playing examples if you haven't already but like switch back and forth. In the mix and solod.
The cymbals are still very td20-ish tho. And you can't beat the wash of the td50 ride. Being able to crash a ride vs not being able to is a huge trade-off
I have to agree. The TD-30 sounds better than the 50. The only thing the 50 has going for it are the digital ride and snare.
Ralf did this in 2017. Check it out here: ruclips.net/video/RAviud6uwd8/видео.html
@Peter P But the TD-27 still sounds more like the TD-50 than the TD-30 to my ears. It does sound better than the 50, What are your thoughts?
Ralf should be out there auditioning for the major late night talk shows and American idol band. This is solid playing. I don't even notice that he is playing electronic drums.
Thank you so much! :-D You can find more drumming/music & sound demos over at my private channel digitaldrumming too if you like:
ruclips.net/user/digitaldrumming
Kind regards!
Solo, highest level
I just got back from the studio from rehearsal (despite the infamous Coronavirus) and when I hear Ralf I realize how much I don't really know. But I'm trying, and that's something, right 😀
;-D thank you for your kind feedback Marko!
Like always the best sound... but again wrong module :) . TD-27 Pleaaaase!!!!! Create package for TD-27. Please hand up if you agree!
they are still trying to force people into buying the module in order to get their package.
nice
Nice grooves as always Ralf. I liked to hear some brushes samples. Could you please one day do a module, trigger, pad comparison just on brushes performance? Thank you, Urs
Hey Urs, the brush patches are actually a little limited with the TD-30, the newer modules do not have any brush playing patches anymore. What exactly would you like to see? It is possible to play very basic brush sweeps & strokes on the TD-30, as shown in the Ludwig brush kit. There is not much beyond that I´m afraid. Kind regards!
@@drumtecTVhi, thank you for your answer. The question was if other drumkits or modules also support playing with brushes. So for example could I play with brushes on a TD17, Mimic or Alesis Module too? Do I need special Snare pads to do this? thank you, Urs
@@ursegger5109 Hey Urs, there is no other module with built in brush sweep functionality as far as I know sadly. Kind regards!
The sounds are truly amazing and certainly better than any other preset on the TD -30 (I have owned a TD30K for 8 years). What I am wondering is how much do DrumTec drums affect the sound quality. If I use this Real Acoustic kit with the original TD-30 K pads, are the sounds the same or do they get worse?
Thank you! The sounds will be the same generally speaking, as the pads do not affect the sound coming from the module per se. But they do have a positive effect on the amount of realism/feel/dynamics of the played grooves/patterns etc.
Kind regards!
Hello, does anyone know how to only increase the volume of the metronome? In some modes it sounds very low.
Joyita
Don't understand why manufactures don't license and use this software. Blows Td 50 sounds out of the water.
THe snares are pretty bad.
Good afternoon! when I buy the real acoustics Sound edition I will be able to mix the timbres, for example: the sound of the snare of Yamaha with the bass drum from DW and the cymbals from Pearl?
Please make your Roland TD11 kits be able to be sold separately. Im not interested in all of the sounds but only a couple 🙏😊
Love Ralf's playing! Considering updating my old TD12. Should I go with a TD27 or second hand TD30. Thanks
Hey Brian, thank you very much! Depends a little on what you're after. The TD-30 sounds considerably different from all current Roland modules, yet doesn't have the digital pads compatibility (which is great in terms of playability/triggering/realism).
The TD-27 module sounds very different, and in the end you have to like the sounds you're playing with :) Have you checked out some drum-tec sound edition demos for the TD-27 yet:

ruclips.net/video/mO1ZXei-k6Y/видео.html
If you dig the TD-27 sounds (sound preferences are really subjective), I'd say go for it because it's the more recent & technically advanced module, you can hook up CY-18DR / PD-140DS / VH-14D in the long run (you'll also get the drum-tec Live Sound Edition free of charge with the purchase of the module from drum-tec).
On the other hand, if you feel the TD-30 is going to be the only module which fits your individual sound preference, it should be the one to get possibly.
Feel free to get in touch through experts@drum-tec.de for further assistance and/or an individual quote on any module or custom kit configuration including international shipping if you like.
Kind regards!
Hi Drum-Tec/ Ralf,
Congratulations on the excellent drum kits for the TD30.
I have purchased several versions.
It all sounds very fat and tight………through the headphones.
However, there is one crucial point in terms of sound when you play with your band in the rehearsal room or live and that is the sound amplifier / monitor amplification.
I've had a Roland PM30 but it's only aimed at you as a drummer.
What is your recommendation for optimal sound amplification for E-drums as a whole for a band?
Thank you, glad to hear that! You might check out this one for example:
www.drum-tec.com/ld-systems-dave-8-xs-e-drum-bundle
It's like a little PA with one subwoofer & 2 satellites, which gives you nice stereo image & enough power to amplify a rehearsal. It seems to be out of stock currently, please get in touch with the guys through service@drum-tec.de and check whether it's available. Kind regards!
when will you come out with more sets for their flagship TD-50 module? So sad I keep seeing nice sounding kits come out for everything else except their flagship module.
Hey Micah, you are right, I hope there will be new content for TD-50 soon too! Kind regards & stay tuned :)
omg the samples are amazing, those toms wow, i cant afford the drums but would the brain and snare upgrade be good to go with a cheaper kit any suggestions for a mesh kit affordable and the td30 and snare , many thanks j
You could check out the much more affordable ATV EXS aDrums drum-tec edition kit for example:

Tutorial for 2:46?
Can you please describe briefly how you got so good at your phrasing?
Thank you very much! Briefly put, I started drumming at the age of 10, then had lessons with various teachers, practiced almost every day & played with several bands ver years, studied at the music college Mainz and have been working as a professional drummer ever since then :) so it's been quite some years of practicing, playing, recording etc, you can find more info on www.ralfschumacher.eu if you like or subscribe to my personal YT channel "digitaldrumming". Kind regards!
can i upload my custom drum samples on this module?
Wow this video make me think it was a mistake selling my td 30 have to get it back sold it for a td 17
Still love my TD-30! :)
are those new recorded sounds? is it tweaking the sounds td-30 already have?
Hi, it´s not possible to load new samples/sounds to a TD-30 module. These kits are mix presets based on the module´s internal sounds. Kind regards!
HUGE! Why did they stop making the 30 anyway?
Yeah the TD-30 was/still is a great module, which made the biggest "jump" coming from the older Roland modules in my opinion. I remember being really blown away by the snare drum sounds & dynamic range when we made the first demos with the drum-tec diabolo & pro pads years ago. Kind regards!
@@drumtecTV but why did they discontinue it? Seems like the 50 is nearly as old. Or am I wrong about that?
@@demonicsweaters No they replaced TD-30 with the TD-50, TD-30 is about 8 years old. Kind regards!

Playing w/ the brushes on a center cone trigged snare ??!? Didn't even know it was possible !
Hey Jean-Marie, this is only possible on TD-30, which has a brush sweep patch. Neither TD-50 nor any other sound module has this functionality as far as I know sadly. Kind regards!

TD-30 > TD-50. Glad I still have my TD-30 module and didnt buy in to the hype that newer = better.
EDIT: Have you done the midi-loop trick and tried layering your sounds? It takes the TD-30 to a whole new level.
Here's what I've always said about my church's td20 vs td50. It just has way more LIFE in it, you know?
@@Grayham4 I'm not sure if the TD-20 can do the midi loop trick (I think it can) but you should give it a shot. It will open up so many more possibilities on the module.
Start Here and watch the series. Should be similar on a TD-20: ruclips.net/video/1lQOeyeiitE/видео.html&ab_channel=SimonDennyPictures
@Ed No latency issues on the TD-30 with this Midi loop trick. Maybe lower end modules could have latency issues (if they can even do this), but the TD-30 runs smoothly.
Will the sounds for TD-17 or other TD’s modules work on the TM-6 Pro?
No unfortunately the sound editions are not compatible with other modules, so this TD-30 sound edition will only work on a TD-30, while the TD-17 SEs will only work on TD-17. Kind regards!

Hi, I am using a KS Digital C88 reference full range system at the studio with treated room acoustics, as well as various AT & Sennheiser studio standard headphones, and I cannot confirm that the overall sounds are too bright in general :) the SRH440 obviously is a quite affordbale headphone, so it is highly probable that it´s frequency curve is rather hyped in the highs (as it´s done with almost all affordable headphones and/or microphones). Well you should probaly watch again, the 6" fx pad is being hit every once in a while (tom1 sound). Kind regards!
There must be something weird with Rolands modules, because I don't like the sounds of these kits either. Rolands original sounds are abysmal, even in the most expensive modules. These are slightly better, some of them, but they still sound synthetic. It continues to amaze me that none of the biggest e-drum manufacturers, Roland, Pearl and Alesis can even come close to much cheaper software like Superior Drummer, Addictive Drums and Battery.
Have you checked out the Pearl Mimic Pro sound module yet?
