Nice upgrade Brian, 420 is a weapon. Over here in the UK we have a customer on a dairy farm who clocks almost 2000hrs a year on his loadall. Hope you enjoy the new one 👍
Were I used to work they bought a JCB just like that one but 10 years older. We found out you must grease the lift cylinder daily or you will wear out the hole wear the bottom pin goes thru the cylinder. Also if you live were it gets bellow 0° make sure you get the cold weather package for the hydraulic oil. If you don't you can blow a hole in the hydraulic oil cooler while idling. That happened to me one morning. Happy birthday Brian.
A good way to master forks on any telehandler. Boom out to the load, as a rule, instead of driving into a load. Tilt forks down till both fork tips are visible. Line forks up with load to be lifted. Extend boom to insert tips in load. Simultaneously boom down and tilt forks up to further insert forks in load. You're in. Now level out forks to match load and boom out, up, down, as required to fully insert and secure load. Takes practice to master however.
We have two 540-170 telehandlers which are running at 14000 and 15000 hours. We only had to redo the injector pump because of Kerosene in the diesel and on the other we did the brakes. Great machines
Metric is, 6.0 metre reach, 3.8 tonne max lift hence the 538-60 The agri controls are also different to a construction spec but the main difference is power and road speed Q-fit is jcb specific
Well, your problem was you needed a hi-tip bucket (forward hinge bucket) which you should probably look into getting as well. Super handy for doing ground-to-hopper work since you can reduce the wear on the boom's wrist. That 420 is going to chew its tires up a little faster than your old one on surfaces, just take the articulation easy and smooth and it should last you a long time.
Hey Brian to maybe help with fertilizer dust you could get that new loader ceramic coated. Will shed water and dust like nothing. Might help with fert dust as well!
538.60 means 5 series (all jcb telehandlers), 38 means 3.8 tonne lift (metric) and 60 means 6m reach! The agri models, agri super, pro etc are spec levels, usually go up in hp and gearbox (nicer dualtech one which is hydro at low speeds, gear manual at higher). Yes agri ones are way nicer to run, construction spec are very basic and slower in speed and hydraulic capacity. From england
there is a small local outfit near me, Driscoll Farms, uses those tela loaders to stack hay and straw. They ship the hay and straw interntationally with a press so you can imagine how much they use those.
Wow its so different from the construction version (lay out). Although they all seem to come with different functions. The door having the air gap is a standard thing. To get rid you have to open the bottom door close the top door to it whilst its open then close the top and bottom together.
The young guy on 10th generation farm was getting out of their front entry skid steer and slipped on the bucket, it hurt. JCB is so far ahead of other makes, safer for sure.
We have a TM320. Servicing of that machine is a little challenging. We've had JCB, and new Holland telahandlers. The TM is holding alot better then the other ones we've used. We put an average of 200 plus hours a month on it. Overall it's better. I enjoy your U tube channel.
Yeah i always think that. I had a rare monoscopic loadall so rigid boom think it was a W reg so about 1980 they boomed in popularity from then on. I couldn't believe watching sonne farms evaluate a loadall and blown away at idea of telescopic. In think there side the pond space isn't the issue so they had huge loading shovels which gave them the height reach without needing telescopic boom
If you think about it, in Europe we have grain warehouse's, while USA use bin's. So they don't have a need for a telehandlers to move and load the crops.
There just really isn’t a need for a Telehandler on most US farms. A Skid-Steer can handle most tasks you would find on a US Farm. I think there is a few main reasons why Telehandlers are more popular in the UK. 1. Farms are just not all that big in the UK on average. Therefor, the infrastructure has maximum space usage in mind with them being so compact. In the UK the barns tend to have overhead lofts where bales, tools, and equipment can be stored. 2. Farms in the UK tend to be spread out with plots all over the place. Telehandlers are known to have higher road speeds and can move from plot to plot fairly quickly to deliver seeds, fertilizer, tools, etc. 3. Because UK farms are smaller. They tend to have smaller equipment and implements, which need to be refilled more often. Hence, a telehandler being able to travel around efficiently. That’s just not the case in the US. US farms are hundreds to thousands of Acres and have dedicated buildings for the storage or Equipments, tools and bales. The equipment tends to be extremely large and holds enough seed, fertilizer to do many acres of work. Even if they do need a refill, a skid steer won’t help. They need full pump trucks or auger wagons to refill them. So Skid-Steers work just fine for moving around stuff, and they rarely leave the yard.
If you want faster travel speed, JCB does make 50 kph (31 mph) versions of the 320S and 420S, with improved inboard oil immersed dual circuit front & rear axle bakes vs. the single circuit front only brakes on the the 40 kph (25 mph) models. The 320 and 420 models however only comes in 40 kph (25 mph) versions, while the 320S and 420S models comes in both 40 kph (25 mph) and 50 kph (31 mph) versions.
We have a 560-80 So 6t lift 8m reach 13k lb lift 26ft reach Got 2000hrs on it and it's still fine the aircons in them are total junk if you live in a hot country (Australia) The biggest advantage on them is they have very large hydraulic pumps Compared to a loader tractor anyway So you can run quite large hydraulic implements This one will be interesting, iv seen you load fert inside your fert shed I wonder if you'll miss the 4 wheel steering of the tele handler Alot more capacity than the little tele handler you had thought
Ur going to love the tm over here a lot of contractors use them to buckrake silage into the clamp so that will give u an idea of how hard u can work them.
Good to see you. Almost started to get BFV withdrawal. Have you been thinking about showing some crop scouting? It would interest me in seeing how the crops are progressing. That may be a broken record to you, but it never gets old to me. I've been thinking about the air on the combine header using so much power. You know more than me, but what if you changed nozzle direction or design? Maybe that fan should be in the middle. I would rather see more power used elsewhere.
You would be pushed to find an arable , livestock or mixed farm in the UK without a Telehandler , great bits of kit , add a pickup hitch and even more versatile.
TM420 is good machine we have one gets used daily had a TM320 before that loved it so universal what can be done with it. Radio will probably stay on to tho ours doesn’t shut off with the key only when shut the radio off itself.
In Europe these tele-handlers are used for everything. I had a Manitou and didn’t like it that much. Ours run 40 kph (most are regulated to 30) and its plenty fast for me.
I got rid of my JCB, after years of constant breakdowns happy to see it go. Dealer started to ask us to pay for repairs, my argument was it broke down from the day we got it new, it was the same few problems every time from new, they should continue to repair the machine or replace the it. It was a happy day to see the JCB head down the drive for the last time, Fantastic machine to operate, just never lasted a more than a couple of months without a breakdown. The dealer even openly admitted the model we owned has design problems, it was actually taken off the market to redesign to have the problems fixed, The machine should have just been replaced it was so bad but JCB did not care we had a machine which constantly broke down
On some equipment the power doesn't completely shut off on the key because of the ad blue system needs to run its clean out cycle then once the cycle completes it shuts off the power. Not sure if that's the same with the jcb.
Nice walk around on the telehandler. I wondered if you would be happy trying to use it as a loader. You are going from a 6000 lbs unit to a 9000 lbs unit you should be happier with it. Must have got a six speed transmission. Enjoy your videos!
LOL I didn't get a chance to watch the video yet but you got a thumbs up I know I like it. And it's always crazy how you put up a video when I'm sitting at home bored. Thank you all in the video for sharing with us
We have 2 tm420 at work one thing to watch out for is the joystick on both of ours went bad making the boom not extend or not letting it go in gear once we put new joysticks in they have been great
Miss-information the construction equipment runs all day. We use them on a wind farm and they run 70-90 hrs a week. They run more then your combines do. Just a heads up
One defect or con in the tele handler is the low cab. You can’t see what your dumping into. I like this tele loader Brian. I’m looking forward to your evaluation. Looks very interesting!
And now you can't see your palletfork at all from the driverseat... We have a similar Schäffer as the tm 420, but next time it's going to be a telehandler again. Much easier to get in and out. Better visibility from the cab. Just the boom up or down. We would go for a bigger model than yours though a 545-70 agrisuper would have been better for you as well. 6 gearbox, 40 km/h. Pulls a big load of straw bales as well. Great video though👍
To sort the lack of visibility in forklift mode..................... it needs a camera. you are so very welcome. tell your dealer to tell jcb. tell 'em i told ya..................

The TM is a great machine we use them for pushing silage up pits

You won’t go wrong with a JCB Brian. 👍👍
love JCB they are made about a 2 hour drive away was brought up on them well done be safe from the UK
We have two 540-170 telehandlers which are running at 14000 and 15000 hours. We only had to redo the injector pump because of Kerosene in the diesel and on the other we did the brakes. Great machines
That's one heck of an upgrade. I've seen a lot of livestock farmers having them. Great on moving bales and everything else around quickly.
Metric is, 6.0 metre reach, 3.8 tonne max lift hence the 538-60

Q-fit is jcb specific
Its great to see that JCB is a popular brand in the States too
When you close the top door, you need to open the bottom door at the same time, it will never seal properly unless the bottom door is open
Well, your problem was you needed a hi-tip bucket (forward hinge bucket) which you should probably look into getting as well. Farming insider purchased the same JCB 420, was lifting 3900 pound bale piles without any issues.
Nice up grade to the farm, she always said bigger is better, may not always need it but it's their when you need it.
Happy Birthday Brian have a great day with your family
Have the tm320 at work and love it. The 420 is awesome! You will enjoy it much more
Hey Brian to maybe help with fertilizer dust you could get that new loader ceramic coated. Will shed water and dust like nothing. Might help with fert dust as well!
Thanks for sharing your time
I drive a tm320 at work and have no complaints got it new last year has 450hrs now and it’s been flawless
Good to know
We have a TM320 and we love it.

The Q fit is for the factory pallet tines that slots through the headstock, good ish if you can cope with floating tines.
Toys for boys, greetings out of Pennsylvania from a dutch dairyfarmer

Ever see that JCB TeleSkid? Not as big but everyone seems to like it
I’d Love to have one
Happy Birthday Brian have a wonderful and a blessed Birthday
Thanks
The young guy on 10th generation farm was getting out of their front entry skid steer and slipped on the bucket, it hurt. JCB is so far ahead of other makes, safer for sure.
Hi
Think the window lock is adjusteble and in the rear tire you could put in water and salt so it dont flipps forward. Keep make great videos.

Yes Sir you brought out the big guns on that new equipment, Really looks solid, hope you all enjoy it. Keep safe.
Thanks for watching
Happy birthday Brian and BJ.
Brian Brown, you're putting out great content. SEND IT!
Awesome looking unit Brian
I really enjoyed the new Tele-handler, I think it’s going to be a really good addition to your farm.
Congratulations on the new equipment and happy Birthday!
Thanks
The radio is adjustable you just need to change the settings is all the it will turn off when you turn the machine off
Holy cow! That’s definitely an upgrade! 👍🏻
I'm surprised that there are so few telehandlers on farms in the States, here in the UK every other farm has them and probably half of them are JCB.
Thought the same . Looks like skid steers are the choice of equipment 🤗
Yeah i always think that. I had a rare monoscopic loadall so rigid boom think it was a W reg so about 1980 they boomed in popularity from then on. I think people like the compactness of skid loaders…but really the tele handler is better machine…faster higher lift capacity

blimey !! you know lots !!
Happy Belated Birthday Brian
Happy birthday. Definitely isn't going to beat the old orange loader as far as weight capacity, but it will do most of the jobs.
We have a 560-80
So 6t lift 8m reach 13k lb lift 26ft reach
Got 2000hrs on it and it's still fine
the aircons in them are total junk if you live in a hot country (Australia)
The biggest advantage on them is they have very large hydraulic pumps
Compared to a loader tractor anyway
So you can run quite large hydraulic implements
This one will be interesting, iv seen you load fert inside your fert shed

Alot more capacity than the little tele handler you had thought
Saving the Podcast for Friday when I mow the yard!
The jcb stuff is great but as a massey ferguson nut I like the mf25 teliporter. It's getting a bit long in the tooth but I still love using it!
Always exciting taking delivery on a new machine!
Ur going to love the tm over here a lot of contractors use them to buckrake silage into the clamp so that will give u an idea of how hard u can work them.
Happy Birthday Brian
Love that light!
Good luck with your new JCB .
Happy Birthday Brian!
That Tele loader looks like will be handy to have around..congrats!!
HAPPY Birthday Brian!!!!!!
I have a JCB 526. Bit smaller and now around 8000 house on her works every day
Good to see you. Almost started to get BFV withdrawal. Have you been thinking about showing some crop scouting? It would interest me in seeing how the crops are progressing. That may be a broken record to you, but it never gets old to me.

Brian and Luke did some field scouting recently. I’m not sure if he’s released the video yet.
Those TM are a good loader. Only thing I don’t like is looking around the boom to dump.
I've been by American equiptment so many times this month, I was pretty surprised that they really didn't have any inventory.
You would be pushed to find an arable , livestock or mixed farm in the UK without a Telehandler , great bits of kit , add a pickup hitch and even more versatile.
Happy birthday Brian and BJ
Thanks
Happy birthday buddy

Backup alarm is defining!

Happy birthday, good sir!
Awesome Video and Much Love as Always Brian!!!
Bob sure does love to play in the dirt! New piece of equipment, I guess ya gotta get a little mud on the tires.
Thanks

Cup holder for a 32oz coffee mug....?!? From where that telehandler originates, that's considered a bucket of coffee...!!! 😉
Great video good to see y'all
Fantastic loaders 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you for the video!
I actually like jcb I work commercial masonry and are skytraks are non stop all day they are tough
thank you
Great looking machine👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great machine good trade for you on the farm. now that's a beast for sure.
Happy birthday for 2nd August Brian, sorry I missed the day.
New JCB nice present.
🌏🇦🇺
Did you sell your old JCB to Mayer farm equipment? I swear I saw it in there lot. Plus it was from American equipment. Looks exactly like yours to.
Nice walk around on the telehandler. I wondered if you would be happy trying to use it as a loader. You are going from a 6000 lbs unit to a 9000 lbs unit you should be happier with it. Must have got a six speed transmission. Enjoy your videos!

Center aligned boom means everything.
You should make a bracket to hang tractor weights on the rear of the JCB.
THAT'S a PLAN..................................
Great Video, Thanks for sharing
I was wondering about this, now I’ll know
Happy Birthday, Brian and BJ! 🥳
Thanks
We have 2 tm420 at work one thing to watch out for is the joystick on both of ours went bad making the boom not extend or not letting it go in gear once we put new joysticks in they have been great
You could just change the micro switch in the lever btw and save alot of money
@@ijjohnson07 maybe they were on warranty so let the company change the switch?
Happy birthday brown brothers! Nice equipment upgrade. God bless you all
Great video happy birthday to both of you boys 🎁🎂👍
new machine looks like a beast
Pretty interesting piece of machinery.
Enjoyed the video Brian👍👍👍👍👍
Miss-information the construction equipment runs all day. We use them on a wind farm and they run 70-90 hrs a week. They run more then your combines do. Just a heads up
Damn man sorry telling what I was told from a dealership
Just telling fact. Been a union equipment operator for over 30 years. I am not a farmer at all
Nice looking machine should serve you well.
One defect or con in the tele handler is the low cab. You can’t see what your dumping into. I like this tele loader Brian. I’m looking forward to your evaluation. Looks very interesting!
fendt telehandler with raising cab fixes this
