I have no experience with HVAC, but I enjoy watching Curtis's videos. I like that he's so honest, capable, thorough and professional. We need more people like him.
I bet many Customers are repeat business so your Reputation speaks for itself. If you’re Fair with your Customers, they’ll have NO problem Paying for your Time. 👍
I would like to express my gratitude for the M 18 Milwaukee fan. It arrived at my home at the end of our summer in Houston but I am excited to use it in the coming year. I will continue to watch your channel I am a registered HVAC technician, I continue to learn from viewing your different scenarios you come across in the field. You inspire me to become a better technician and more thorough and never forget the foundation of education that I have received. Thank you very much 😊
All that work..just to replace a motor.. sometimes its amaging what it takes...happy to see that im not the only one to seem to have hard days..on occasion..hapy everyday is not like that..haha..good job mate..
These are some of the everyday obstacles such as poor installation layout, rusty bolts, physical and mental stress a typical HVAC Technician will have to overcome to get the job done for the customers they don't teach you in tech school. It takes a very self motivated and determined individual to be a self employed tradesman. I think you did a get job not freaking out when I know you wanted to scream at the top of your lungs sometimes. I look forward to your videos Curtis. Keep'em coming.
Part of the old bushing was still stuck on the bolt that wouldn't go in, and it was hitting the new bushing and not letting the bolt go down far enough
It looks from the dirt build up on the squirrel cage that filters were not replaced or installed in a long time. Maintenance agreement should be in place!
THAT Looked like a pain! What a shitty thing to do on that indoor fuse disconnect, I couldn't tell from the video but hopefully they at least used a Kearney clamp. You made that look easy though. Great job!🇺🇸
I'm gonna give you one tip your service wrench has square drives on both sides and fits perfectly on the motor set screws. It's nice because it's ratcheting, reversible and a bit shorter which for me I don't smash/ cut my hands. If your like me you only ever used it for service valves on outdoor units but it also happens to be the Manifold/supply gas valve hex size.
like the video. was the drain lines in the right place. knowing some times or another you are going to take out the fan motor. but you got it fix with a lot of work. be bless and safe.
i wonder if these people get the vibe that this is an honest repairman that knows what he is doing and not ripping them off? Yes i know this is mostly warranty/insurance work
What a terrible design for and air handler WOW great job Curtis! Maybe put a Union on that PVC instead of a coupling next time so it’s easier to take apart
Seeing how the original fan motor had the mounts, how is the mount listed on the bill? Separate or added to the new motor price? Can't just give it away.
i just recently read an article on englands law must use heat pumps..well they have found they dont heat their homes....old drafty etc its the funniest read in a while.. now what england..
What are your thoughts on that M12 spot blower? I was looking to get one for exactly what you used it for. I already have the big leaf blower, but don't need that much power most of time.
@@HVACGUY thank you for the response. I restore vintage radios from 1920/30's and often find caps that test good but have off the charts ESR. It's kind of a warning that it's going to fail. Thats why I asked. AC's are completely different animals. Thanks , Happy New Year.
Once again, the ppl behind you did a crap job thinking ahead about how difficult it would be to take apart, and you have to not only do the repair needed, but fix what they did so poorly..great job! When that coil seems so hard to get to and you have it all apart, are you tempted do a vacuum, rinse, or spot check for leaks, or is just not warranted to bother with until something goes belly up? (I’m not sure I’ve seen you mess with an indoor coil except a couple of particularly nasty replacements) Or did you make it easier to take apart for the future with the drain repair?
Poor installation. I just hope you never run into an insider heat pump. It amounts to a entire package unit on the inside of the house. These things are engineering ignorance and insanity. The only way to make them stupider would be to add a nest thermostat installed by a internet empowered but well meaning homeowner.
I like his demeanor he is nice professional not like other sites i cancelled..
That’s a very poorly design air handler my kudos to you Curtis you are a great tech . Blessings
Thanks Curtis. You really help me understand this business
Rain, nor sleet, nor snow, nor cold will keep Curtis from his repair jobs; he's a true pro and we thank him for his fine video productions.😎
we do
Thank you, I 2nd that 👍
Yup
I’m amazed that 90% of the time you have the right parts on your truck.
I am too!
It is good planning! Saves lots of time in trips to supply houses!
@@bobboscarato1313 I probably carry 2k in parts on my van, needs to be like 10k.
the installers did not think of the service technicians you did a great job Curtis

Good job Curtis I could feel your frustration people who design these units must be sadistic

I like your new work bench table. I wish i had something like that when i was in the trades , retired now 3 years.
Ur tool management is fantastic.
Hey Curtis, You should pick yourself up an internal pipe wrench for getting out broken threaded fittings, they work wonders. Great video as always!
Why would they run the line set so close to the drain? That job was a pain, but you got it done. Thanks for sharing.

Seems like when I think something will be easy it actually turns into a major overhaul for me anyway. Happy New Year

love that work bench!

Fence Post Lizards go Great on a Chef Salad along with Croutons, Meats and Bacon Bits. Yummy! 😬👍

Hi Curtis I am surprised that you didn’t check the voltage going to the motor
Wires in the Shutoff Box are not only Illegal, they’re Dangerous wired together with Tape. 🤪 Who is the Genius that Installed that ? 🤪👎
Move the tube light man

The threading on the screw went bad is all good job tech
A rough day at the office!!
An EZ Out would have saved all that aggravation…Nice save on the self tapping screw.
Good work Curtis .installers didn’t use their head . Why don’t you use the boot on your drill anymore?
Them blowers never wanna come out easy lol
Seeing how the original fan motor had the mounts, how is the mount listed on the bill? Separate or added to the new motor price? Can't just give it away.
Separate items. I call them belly strap motor mounts.
Hello Curtis, did you get to wash the evaporator coil?; I bet the ductwork is very dirty too!
i just recently read an article on englands law must use heat pumps..well they have found they dont heat their homes....old drafty etc its the funniest read in a while.. now what england..
Feel your pain on that job
What are your thoughts on that M12 spot blower? I was looking to get one for exactly what you used it for. I already have the big leaf blower, but don't need that much power most of time.
Man air handlers in a closet suck to work on... I know all about it lol. Hopefully the blower wheel comes off easy for you!
Where can I get those sockets that you use on your impact?
Why didn't you put a u trap on water exit line?
so..... I HAD to Lookup _'FencePost Lizard'_
and surprise, Surprise, SURPRISE..... *it's an actual Critter*
Curtis, when you check a cap, do you also check the ESR ? Just curious. That cover / install looks like a real PITA, but you got it :)
I don’t see a need to check resistance. The only other useful test is checking it under load…as far as I know.

@@rciancia I don’t deal with small caps very often.
Man, that job was like pulling teeth!😕
How about inligting us on the cost of that job? Please

It’s still just as hard to work on. I did drop an estimate for a new disconnect though.
Man,I wish you would throw down a tarp on customers floors,my wife would be having a fit.but otherwise a good job
I’m the world’s worst at not wearing gloves, but in my old age I’m and school of hard knocks I’m trying to do better.

Old Washer on the bolt your trying
This is all too common. Code should enforce better access to equipment to allow service.
That'll never happen; they've been doing it for a 100 years and will continue!
It is easier to change the fan motor than fix that drain pipe, nice work!!
That blower wheel sure was dirty from them using cheap fiberglass filters. I'm wondering how bad the coil looked. Happy new year Curt.

wow poorly designed unit; so difficult just to take the fan motor out....
