This is mid to late 90s- purposefully has a vintage flavor and meant to be tongue-in-cheek silly. Beck does it all, though, and won several Grammies, including 2015 best album, 20 years after his most famous songs, so don't sleep on this musical giant!

Great rabbit hole to jump down... When I first heard Beck's breakout song 'Loser' in 1994, it was kinda 'wow' this is different. Been a fan ever since. 'Where it's at' is from '96 off his second album, along with 'Devils Haircut', more recently 'Dreams' in 2017 from his Colours album. He's really experimental taking influences from all over the place...Enjoying your reactions, always great when the next generation embraces music from all eras, genres and styles...really enjoying your Beastie Boys trip too, they are just the best, lots more of their back catalogue to check out...and have a look at De La Soul, 'Me Myself & l', 'Magic Number', 'Rollerskating Jam Named Saturdays' another influencial hip hop group that's spanned the decades✌️

This song came out in 1996. The 90s were just fucking great. The fact he thought it was older is both depressing and hilarious. It was meant to look a bit retro when it was made. At that time people viewed the 60s and 70s, like gen z views the 90s now.

The 90s were like a hippie revival (1991-1995) grunge rock and the plaid shirts, beanie caps ect. were all a throwback. Bell bottom jeans were even back in fashion for a few years.

You've gotta understand that sometimes people dress weird or wear old clothes in videos to be funny. Just because people are wearing 70s clothes in a video doesn't mean their actually being serious or they're from that time.

Hahaaaaa we for sure had our ish, too. I LOVE y'all kids! Y'all are cool af. Beck was 90s, but he always had a love for the 70s vibe. There was a 60s/70s style revival in the 90s in general. People were wearing bell bottoms and crazy floral prints, platform shoes, all that stuff. Beck is crazy and awesome. Definitely recommend more Beck. He always brings the good weird.

Dude, there's scratching on it & he's singing about "2 turntables & a microphone" (aka DJ-ing) so you know it can't be 70s old. You're smack dab in the middle of the 1990s. Welcome. to why GenX is why we are. And yes there's a rabbit hole. You may remember Beck for the 2015 Grammy awards where he beat out Beyonce for best album & then Kanye tried to Taylor Swift him.

This is from 1996. Fyi, in the 90s, straight guys wore skirts, dresses, kilts, etc. I was in high school in the early 90s, in KANSAS, & had plenty of straight male friends & acqaintances that did, as well as wearing girls' jeans.
You can still get married. Idk why you keep saying that. It's really weird.

This react was a little shallow. You should at least get some background before you react to something. Yes, Beck was really a thing in the early 90s, but it´s really not that difficult to read a Wikipedia article on him before you react and actually see why exactly his music was a thing back then.

At 2:18 that robot you mentioned is a sample from an obscure early break dance track by Mantronix, called "Fresh Is The Word".
Back in the 80's, if something was cool, people would say it was 'fresh'. I dunno, it's just a funny memory from my childhood.
Btw, you're kinda terrible at guessing all the details about old stuff... it's becoming an enjoyable part of watching your content.

As a Gen Xer, we don't think you're crazy, just incredibly narcissistic dependent and entitled. But that's not totally your fault, we came home to empty houses from the time we were 10 years old and learned to manage. We created all these toys and left you to them thinking you would manage, most of you haven't. Again, not totally your fault but as adults now it's time to grow up.
