What makes it such a great performance is that he has absolutely no f***s to give about acting the fool. He's gonna have fun and no matter how uptight the audience is they can't help but get sucked up by the energy.

Not only is this my favorite version of "Where It's At," it's also my favorite Beck recording, period. If you don't have it, get your hands on the "Make Out City" bootleg, which has the entire show in excellent sound quality.
The last time I saw him was here in Ireland, he headlined our biggest festival and played a 3 hour 15 minute set, including a 20 minute version of this... Out of the 750+ acts I've seen live/worked at over the last 14 years; he's one of the all time greatest!
I saw Beck live in 1998. To this day it is still the best concert I've been to in my life. Beck is unreal as a showman. He just never stops, it's amazing!
7:14 Best line for me: "Betcha didn't know we were gonna hit is so hard!" ;) Honorable mention: 8:05 "Im rockin buffet tables and record labels... I'm rockin cheap whores and town cars."
Went from amazing loved 90s white rapper with rock added in to famous alternative rock. To beautiful and funky jazz and to orchestral beautiful deep songs and to this day is my favorite musician
+Cain Jenkins I like how Beck is the eccentric, underdog everyman. If you saw Adam Lambert and Beck in high school, you could see how Lambert could make it. Beck would make me wonder...
Beck is channeling the spirit of Curtis Mayfield and James Brown and his supreme hillbilly badass funk ROCKED the PLANET!!!!!! 2 weeks until I see him LIVE...Lord have Mercy.
Just wow.... where are you Beck? Please come back and be our All Father. The World needs your talent. And here i was sitting thinking The Dust Brothers made Odelay outrageously amazing. NOOOOT
Thanks for uploading this. This is not only my favorite version of this song, it's probably my favorite Beck "song" and one of my favorite performances of all time. I first encountered this version on the "Make Out City" bootleg about eight years ago and was blown away. You can find the full video of this show if you poke around the web.
@TairyGreen89 Yes. Yes I AM twelve. And yes, Beck is one of my favorite artists and I could not care less about what the music industry is spewing out these days.
This is crazy! How many lead singers go, "Let me put my coat on" and "I have to untangle myself" like it's part of the song? Bet you didn't think we'd hit it this hard?
PEOPLE OF RUclips: How does this not have more views?! Show this hilarity and grooviness to your friends. "Can you represent like that! Do you have the technology??"
There's another taped show, not on RUclips, on Canada's "Much Music," and the same thing happened. There were only two people nodding their heads the whole time. When I saw him in Miami, the crowd went apeshit. Some people were even slam dancing!
Te best musician of the last 15 years , I'll second that. Odelay is 12 years old and sounds as fresh and cutting edge today as it ever did. Beck is an artistic giant albeit a very postmodern one and in my mind he, in terms of merit, keeps the company of Dylan, Van Morrison, Cohen, Lou Reed, Bowie . Sea Change showed he had depth in his songwriting and playing outside of studio based genre blending genius that is his trademark. The Information is a complex landmark record well ahead of its time
"That song doesn't usually last 3 hours! But we got into a serious thing! And then I forgot how it ended..."
-Beck from Futurama
They were all lit up lol
Pass me the becktionary....NO! The rhyming Becktionary!
I love futurama
Thank you for reminding me of that!
What makes it such a great performance is that he has absolutely no f***s to give about acting the fool. He's gonna have fun and no matter how uptight the audience is they can't help but get sucked up by the energy.
The man is an entertainer! I've loved him since I was a teenager. It's been a long time.❤
It’s exciting like watching Richard Simmons

We love Beck!❤
Now THAT is a performance! Beck's the man!
Yeah, Bowie used to phone it in by comparison.
Perfect
I never suspected he'd hit it this hard!
Beck is a robot doing "The Human." The Master of Molding Frequencies. The God of the Auditory Range.
yeah that sort of makes sense
This is the best comment I’ve ever seen.
Dont analyse it, Just sit back and enjoy.. the man's a genius! Saw him live shortly after this.. to this day the best live show i've seen..
Odd that you don't want others to analyze it. What do you care? He applied cologne while doing the robot -- it's fun to analyze that.
@@StephenDoty84 shut up and do what you’re told
This is what they mean by the term "front man" for the band. Great showman.
This is literaly one of the best videos on YT... u cant get more funkier, sexier, more weird and cool than this!
What a performer

any tips on where to pick this up?
The last time I saw him was here in Ireland, he headlined our biggest festival and played a 3 hour 15 minute set, including a 20 minute version of this... Out of the 750+ acts I've seen live/worked at over the last 14 years; he's one of the all time greatest!
He's one of the best live performers out there
I saw him open for RHCP and I was more impressed by Beck lol
That Dude Had it Going ON!!!!! Over 10 minutes of "Where It's at"......
F-ing Amazing!!!
I saw Beck live in 1998. To this day it is still the best concert I've been to in my life. Beck is unreal as a showman. He just never stops, it's amazing!
He's still great! Saw him do his acoustic set in Sydney last year, it was awesome
Ah beck is just so fucking awesome, awesome fucking performance. Wish i had been there..
+Johan Ringbøl But you didn't know where it's at? ;)
Dexter Haven give a trophy to this guy
This is one of the best performances I've ever seen... by any artist! Damm I love Beck!
Still above me how he hasn't gone down as one of the greats.
I've seriously watched this whole thing 10 times already!
Just saw Beck at Red Rocks Colorado last month. Dude was "off-the-charts" Great show!
Beck just did the robot.....
beckbot
And the worm...
Lol yes he did
The 1990s, from start to finish, was one hell of a decade for every genre of music.
Beck had his niche and his Odelay Album was phenomenal!
That was probably the greatest thing I've ever seen Beck do! Been a fan since Mellow Gold.
This is what live perfomance is all about.. i did not expect that
7:14 Best line for me: "Betcha didn't know we were gonna hit is so hard!" ;)
Honorable mention: 8:05 "Im rockin buffet tables and record labels... I'm rockin cheap whores and town cars."
Recovnize
This is the definision of lit af
Dam strsight
he busts a move the whole tune
And the crowd was against him at the start and stiff -- he had to win them over. That's even more impressive. "I know you wanna represent..." ;)
Beck y su banda: groove, elegancia y apisonadora a la vez en una actuación que te arrastra hasta el final.. y son 10 minutos!
You know when the keyboardist has gloves on that the performance grooves
He's even a better dancer than Beyonce.
Went from amazing loved 90s white rapper with rock added in to famous alternative rock. To beautiful and funky jazz and to orchestral beautiful deep songs and to this day is my favorite musician
Cain Jenkins ABSOLUTELY WELL SAID! THANKS FOR THE AWESOME COMMENT!

He is quite amazing
Beck is channeling the spirit of Curtis Mayfield and James Brown and his supreme hillbilly badass funk ROCKED the PLANET!!!!!! 2 weeks until I see him LIVE...Lord have Mercy.
I ran the lightboard for this show. He was so fun and hit it hard!!
My son, for the good music ,you have got a full Time
I seen this guy and his ensemble live twice, like twenty years apart. Respect to the master of grooves and whimsy.
Nice.
He is the coolest person to ever live.
THis video never gets old to me
Added to favorites. This is amazing.
jazz funk and rock with a little bit of metal i didnt know it was possible but he could pull it off ...Beck is badass
Damn!!!! This live version is awesome!! They sound so much heavier in person
SUPER creative, great stage presence.
Michael Cera's got some sick rhymes

Michael's his son.... Kid just ain't got no jive though.
Ive had this song in my library for a long time and love the shit out of it. About time I looked up the video. Almost lives up to my imagination. : )
What a great performance! Im so happy that I have a DVD with the full show. Its short but gold!
I think he may the best American artist of his generation...and he has been for the past 20 years.
He's hard-working musical genius.
This deserves more views. C'mon, let's "blow it up."
word
Beck BRINGS it simply put!!!
One of my top fav Artists past 20 years
Please never get rid of this, it's the best thing ever
I could listen to this song all day long.
Just wow.... where are you Beck? Please come back and be our All Father. The World needs your talent.
And here i was sitting thinking The Dust Brothers made Odelay outrageously amazing. NOOOOT
14 people missed the like button. That's embarrassing.
3:15 -- Such a win, it changed my life.
I wish I was there at this show :(
I saw him twice on this tour!!! Nashville, TN!
this was when pop music was actually great and had substance...this performance is incredible...pop music today has no originality what so ever!
Can’t touch this
Originality and personality is dead in the new pop music...
You all sound like boomers
there's a bunch of great pop music, it's just not the biggest hits, but it never has been
I am sorry but Beck was never a pop musician.
the horn section makes it extra badassssss!
"I gotta untangle myself!"
"I gotta get my coat on!"
So epic.
What the hell took everybody so long to get up and dance??? I flew out of my chair at 2:27!!! Awesome!!!!
such a great performance, and all for TV! If I were in that audience I would've been way more enthusiastic with my technological representing!
5* from Germany....wish I could dance like him ;-) !
20 years later, this still OWNS. This song was meant to be performed live and with horns.
Well-Said
No one rocks the house like beck !!!! Listen to him preach !!!

AWESOMESHIT! I SWEAR BECK HAS A BLACK MAN'S SOUL!
Oh, the irony of your comment.
Fan since day one in the 90s with loser and mellow gold.first time seeing this clip.love him even more
this is why he may be the finest American artist of our day
This is crazy! How many lead singers go, "Let me put my coat on" and "I have to untangle myself" like it's part of the song? Bet you didn't think we'd hit it this hard?
one of the best performances of anything by anyone, ever! that drummer just slays me, also.
@ 7:15 "Bet you didn't know we was gonna hit it so hard" hahaha Beck is the greatest.
Saw him in 99, he blew me away.
En una sola cancion, una mezcla de Blues, Jazz, Hip hop. Trip hop y funky.
I really, really want that Schecter Justin is playing... Not necessiraly that one, but one like it. That tone is KILLER! That PUNCH!!
Beck is a mad scientist in music
Beck is grooving pretty hard right here, it comes off as almost aggressive, and that is freaking awesome
"I gotta UNTANGLE myself! That's the way we play!" Hilarious.
Can I get an amen?! Love it, reminds me of Big Time era Tom Waits
My main man Beck………best new original artist to come from America in 30+ years.
Beck owned that club that night!!!!❤
Beck is like; Jim Morrison, Frank Zappa, James Brown, Bob Dylan, and Neil Young all combined into one person.
Garrett Lewis you missed Elvis Presley and Jesus lol
You missed Micheal Cera
wasn't it?
I love Beck and this version is amazing
