To be quite honest, I didn’t know this song existed. Until I listened to it on the radio for the first time. Ever since, I fell in love with the song. Incredible, shout out to Beck!!
This was a hit when I graduated high school over 20 years ago. My son is going to cross that hallowed threshold in a few years...cannot help but think he and his friends would be just as in love with it as I was back then, if it were to be released in 2021.

Beck does has the coolest line in song: I have two two turntables and a microphone. Where it's at? I want to see them for sure! I just love that line for sure! Does put a smile on my face all the time!
This song came out in 1996. I was ten years old and it became my first favorite song I clearly remember on the radio. Then my parents got me Odelay for Christmas, and I will never forget it, it was such a defining CD of my life. I wish times were still simple like this.
I remember when I saw this video on VH1 for the 1st time when It came out, I was totally blown away, the lyrics, the little samples here and there, the guy with the oranges for eyes lol. ODELAY is a masterpiece for reals!!!
I was 13 when this was released. I honestly hated it because I liked Korn and wanted to hear more heavy bands like them. Now that I'm older, I love this song because it's nostalgic to me & takes me back to when the only thing I seriously cared about was the music I listened to. Thank you Beck - Your music is timeless!
I can't believe I've never heard of Beck until after he released Morning Phase, and he's been around longer than I've been alive! (I'm 19). What Kanye did at the Grammys certainly wasn't right, and trust me, I'm a HUGE Kanye stan, but I'll go as far as to say that what he said about art wasn't true. Beck certainly deserved that award for the amount of work he puts into his albums. One guy doing virtually everything. Production, instrumentation, songwriting, mixing, everything. And I love Beyonce as well, but she has tons of songwriters, tons of producers, back-up singers, the works. That doesn't make her any less of a great artist, nor does it make Kanye any less of a great artist. He's a very decent MC, and an INCREDIBLE producer. He's just very opinionated, for better or worse.
Still remember watching this on Pop-Up Video in the 90s. He won a Grammy for this as well for Best Male Vocal. The following year he was SPIN Magazine's artist of the year. You know, back when pop music wasn't shyte. Sorry to hear all of the people hating on him are so out of touch.

"That was a good drum break....." As with everything Beck there are always open ends and zero relevancy. It's actually therapeutic for me because I feel like I'm flushing all the junk out of my brain and it's void of thought (and refreshed) at the end of each of his videos. I always laughed at the segment of Beck looking befuddled during the middle hook where his two alter egos morph out of him. He looks genuinely perplexed with this 'what was I doing here?' expression.
I'll never forget the looks on all the faces at the 2014 Grammys when he beat out Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and Pharrell for Album of the Year. 'Stunned' is an understatement. 😅😅😅

There was a legend that it did once and then they just brought in more chicks and everything was cool
To be quite honest, I didn’t know this song existed. Until I listened to it on the radio for the first time. Ever since, I fell in love with the song. Incredible, shout out to Beck!!
This was a hit when I graduated high school over 20 years ago. My son is going to cross that hallowed threshold in a few years...cannot help but think he and his friends would be just as in love with it as I was back then, if it were to be released in 2021.
nah
Yuuuup he would beck is a genius!!!!
My brother and I are 10 years apart. I still play this from time to time to let him know the influence was real and understood. Quality in timeless music
Producer: So what samples do you want to use??
Beck: Yes
Yep. That whole album is chock full of them. His live bands did a great job pulling it off. Have to give them credit.
hahahaha yes!!
Beck does has the coolest line in song: I have two two turntables and a microphone. Where it's at? I want to see them for sure! I just love that line for sure! Does put a smile on my face all the time!
In good and in evil, good is in the numbers. Literally.
God this is super nostalgic. I grew up listening to beck. Probably why my mind is fucked.
This song came out in 1996. I was ten years old and it became my first favorite song I clearly remember on the radio. Then my parents got me Odelay for Christmas, and I will never forget it, it was such a defining CD of my life. I wish times were still simple like this.
hope u picked up mellow gold along the way.
@@imjoeimjoe i didn't until later in life, great album 👌
ALBUM OF THE YEAR
I KNOW RIGHT
But like, it's almost like the fact that he won is making me realize that NOBODY KNOWS WHO HE IS and it kinda makes me wanna cry
Bobbilytus Choppenstantz you think he gives a shit about that? i doubt it
I think it's so cool that he won
Fuck Kanye. Fuck Beyoncé. Fuck the stupid ignoramus shits who don't know who Beck is
Yes!!! This dude is a vampire. He hasn't aged in 20 years!
I remember when I saw this video on VH1 for the 1st time when It came out, I was totally blown away, the lyrics, the little samples here and there, the guy with the oranges for eyes lol. ODELAY is a masterpiece for reals!!!
This video was a work of art, nevermind the song being classic
Beck can put alot of rappers to shame
Yeah. Not. There are a lot of fan bois givvvin compliments. It's almost as if y'all are thinking he reads these comments, er sumthin...
Any time someone likes a song on RUclips they gotta find a way to put other artists down in the comments
Beck himself would laugh at your statement ! :D
this song is so funky it even makes line dancing look fun LOL!
Southern Girls Look Good no matter what they're doin'.
Mad Mark ur right!
Ray Manzarek would definitely approve!
This is the best album EVER! The whole album makes me want to groove in my car on a long road trip. 90's girl FOREVER!!!
YYYEEEESSSS!! 👍👌😎
This video can never go away.
These lyrics are bomb. Never gets old.
never liked him when he first came out...until I really really listened to his whole albums. dude is a musical genius.
There's clearly an homage to the keyboard and chords in the Beatles "Come Together" at the end of this Beck masterpiece.
Producer: "Okay, Beck, what genre do you want this song to be?" Beck: "Yes."
Loser= in 93 I had badass Trans am with four 12 inch woofers and 2 amps,I got a ticket for loud music everytime I took it outta garage.Beck Loser was one of the songs I bumped.
Producer: How many iconic genres do you want to blend?
Beck: *Yes.*
Indeed.
And MORE MOOG
@@DracoVolantus it's all about the Moog
Two drunk guys fighting and a microphone. Pass the Deutsche over here, man. Alright
@@charleebrown7188 Haha I remember tweeting (before I deactivated my account) something like that Beck is when you cross indie folk with alt hip hop, country, lofi, garage rock, two turn tables & a microphone
Brilliant collage, it ages like fine wine!
Beck recorded some of the best music ever during the '90's.
This song is no exception!
I sure did
Beck is a legend. He is brilliant.
Thanks!!!
I'll never forget the looks on all the faces at the 2014 Grammys when he beat out Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and Pharrell for Album of the Year. 'Stunned' is an understatement. 😅😅😅
This was New Age music when New Age was trying to figure out where to place themselves! Beck & House Of Pain / Everlast would have been a dope collab!
this reminds me of high school cant believe its been 30 years.
2020 and still listening to Beck... who's with me??
I am in 2021
Apparently only36 people.
me
Aye
@@jackmoves5552 43..lol
"Oh my god, you're Beck!"
I will hear Bender's washboard skills in the back of this song til I die...
Why do i find you ecerywhere
...ONLY words that came to my mind as I clicked on this video... ;)
Oh my Beck, you're god!"
Cub3ulr, "I would shake your hand and steal your wallet but my crappy body crapped out on me."
If we are the only intelligent life in The Universe able to gaze at its wonder, then surely The Universe must think "that's the best opening of any song for 13.8billion years".
Beck is a genius and was far ahead of his time. Wow. This got me reminiscing
At no point in the video did he have two turntables and a microphone.
funnymanfish and humor y dumpy was never said to be an egg
There was definitely a microphone........and some nudity....
You just don't know where it's at.
they just need to spin
funnymanfish 😂😂😂😅
I love that Ray Manzarek-style electric piano you hear throughout the song. And then at the end, he adds in that garage-y Farfisa sound. Amazing.
When Mellow Gold first came out, my friend said, "I can't tell if it's really bad rap or really good alternative." Wise man.
Me as an adult before work in the morning:
🎵 WHERE IT'S AT! 🎵
🎵 I GOT 2 ADVILS AND A TYLENOOOOOL! 🎵
That sound like you got some liver problems as well
lol
😂
LMAO!!!!!!!
Hahahahaha
This is where you can hear a hybrid of 60s to 70s music and present day music all rolled up into one tight package
Goosebumps everytime I hear the intro beat. Thankyou Futurama for showing me the way
As an EMT the lyric “Move thru the room like ambulance drivers” pops in my head all the time. It’s walking into a place proud, and with purpose, and the whole place stops to pay attention to only you. Great imagery and poetry to that lyric.
