As a black woman, it makes me immensely sad to see that the predominant demographic for veneer techs, UV lashes, and botched BBLs are mostly black women.
I literally said this to myself with the previous video with the lip filler pen girl. it’s all about quick money to buy birkin bags, chanel bags, a tesla and flex on other BW.
I’ve noticed this too and it sucks bc I don’t think (most) people have bad intentions… it’s just a combination of hustle culture and the fact that in this current job market, I’m *sure* black and brown women have a disproportionately difficult time finding a job in an already difficult market, so they keep looking for side hustles to earn money (and turn to side hustlers for better deals to spend what money they do have), but the problem with small business is that if you want to do it right, it costs a lot of money up front, so to get the cash going faster, people cut corners. And it sucks, bc it hurts everyone involved. I just really hope people don’t use this as an excuse to be racist or misogynistic, bc truly, scammers of every gender and race exist out there.

I literally just got back from the doctor since my eye hurt. Somehow a small NATURAL hair scratched my cornea and I now need to put on antibiotica 3 times a day. Just imagine how much damage a fake hair can do...
As an Aussie who's had the dangers of UV drilled into me from childhood, it blows my mind that these people are allowing UV light to get so close to people's eyes. Hell, I get my legs lasered regularly, and even then I still have to wear goggles to protect my eyes. I know it's not the same as a UV light, but the fact that I still have to protect my eyes from something that gets done to the lower half of my body means that there's no excuse for the lack of eye protection!
@@teslacoil4335 UVA is still pretty dangerous though, as it penetrates further into the skin than UVB and increases the risk of melanoma. Even at a low power, I still wouldn't risk it!

I’m a former esthetician. Back in my day we warned people not to use wig glue cause it could cause blindness and severe reactions. Now people using resin? Are they trying to speed run medical debt?
@@Busybeingthebest1of1 yeah, weave glue instead of lash glue. This was the 2010s when it was common to use that black glue in the orange bottle. Lots of girls stopped using it after one esthetics teacher said she knew someone who went temporarily blind.

It’s also the consumers responsibility to make sure whoever is preforming the service is qualified and licensed according to their local requirements.
Nail artist here! There’s no way this is deemed eye safe. Gel that needs to be cured WILL give you a gel allergy after repeated skin exposure. There’s no way they’re able to avoid getting the gel onto your actual eyelid. People are gonna end up with gel allergies around their eyes. Also, we remove gel by filing it down and then soaking our nails in acetone…HOW are they removing these lashes??? Popping them off..?! If it’s that strong you aren’t just gonna POP IT OFF 🤦🏼♀️

@@thedevilwearspress-onsI just watched a short with the removal process and they use a cream remover, so basically the same process as with the regular lash extensions glue. But tbh regular lash glue is not safe as well due to it containing cyanoacrylate (basically super glue).
As a nail tech, this is so disturbing to watch. Please, please, please do not put UV/LED lights in your eyes. I wonder what glue she's using to be curing it. The world has gone mad. Just watching the advertisements for this is horrifying. I can't see anyone , even licensed lash technicians getting insured to for this shit.

Noooooo!!! This is such a bad idea omg! I’m a resin artist that uses UV resin sometimes and idc if this stuff is advertised as skin safe, nothing about this looks safe! It absolutely looks the same as like a nail resin or regular UV resin. Plus the uv light on the eye?!?

@@addison2108 unfortunately I am intimately familiar with it due to an unrelated autoimmune disorder that caused a very rare (in connection to my illness) complication called basement membrane dystrophy. Basically the dermatitis on my eyelid caused reoccurring corneal abrasion over and over until it had completely sanded away parts of my cornea. It was insanely painful and caused an emergency trip to the eye doctor. She had to apply a triple-thick placental graft and special contact lenses to my eyes in order to get them where they could heal. I couldn’t work for two weeks because I couldn’t see to drive. Maybe I’m being dramatic and I know what happened to me was completely unrelated to any eye/lash treatment… I’m just so worried about something happening to someone like this or worse because of untested or tampered or unsafe products/procedures.
As a manager of a lash studio I NEED you to do a deep dive of unethical lash artists!! Most states require you to have at least a cosmetology/ esthetician license but some major cities do not (Atlanta, Florida and Texas do not require licenses just certification) people do not understand how dangerous lash extensions can be! The main reason a lot of states require licenses is for SANITIZATION, which is the main issue with unlicensed lash techs. Lash extension adhesive is very dangerous and requires the proper training to do extensions properly and safely (it can cause blindness, it’s very flammable and toxic) In the almost 4 years of working in the lash industry, I’ve seen the scariest damage, infections, and overall horrid work of unlicensed techs. I’ve even had to refer clients to eye doctors because we do not have the education to deal with things like blepharitis, leamy, etc. ALSO to add on, if you are using lash adhesive that’s from a reputable seller (livbay, Paris, etc. NOT Amazon or Shein) the adhesive dries within 2-3 seconds. UV light extensions literally make no sense, and is a side eye especially knowing how proper lashing works. Not only that, the lash glue dries but needs to be fully cured by a bonder. Lash extensions should be shedding out with your natural lashes when applied correctly, so it is NOT a good thing to have them last/ on for a month! This is a nightmare scam that’s taking advantage of uneducated clients and it’s DISGUSTING! This is highway robbery.
I used to work at an orthodontist office and we used UV for the braces and that has a whole shield for the user??? and my biggest warning was "Don't look at the light" This feels... risky....
that glue uses a 200-ish nm setting glue, thats way more dangerous, its the glues in this case thats dangerous, since its probably just uv resin being sold as lash glue, by the knock-offs atleast
My husband is a chemist who worked with similar technology and when I told him about these lash extensions he could not believe that this was being done. It’s just so dangerous to do this around your eyes.

We've already seen these people buying products off Amazon to use on clients. Im afraid its only a matter of time before a tech buys the uv lights or adhesive from a cheap site and seriously harms someone. Hell it could be gorilla glue in the future. I buy uv resin for my job all the time and there is no one formula or consistency between these companies. I fear it'll be the same for these new adhesives.
Wasn't that because the gorilla glue bottle was similar to her hair gel? I was using gorilla glue today to fix my glasses and if I got the bottle mixed up I would assume the glue was a cosmetic product.
This honestly screams the same vibes as every other scammy beauty gimmick but the dangers are getting higher and higher. I genuinely worry for these poor women who have gotten their lashes done with this. It just all makes me sad.

Hasn’t there been recent studies showing that people that get exposed to UV light to curate and dry their nail polish are at risk of damaging the cells of their skin? I can’t even imagine what this could do to people’s eyes… and I doubt companies selling this have researched it to avoid risks.
Actually the study Youre referring to wasn’t well done to be able to say it causes cancer. Basically, they left the cells under the UV lamp for much longer than someone would do for their nails and they failed to control for other factors.
I’ve worked in a molecular lab, where we use UV light to make DNA fluoresce and identifiable in gel. We wear lab coats, face shields and neck covering when the UV light it just on and exposed One time my coworkers sleeve got drawn up and he got an insane sunburn within a minute Granted that light was extremely powerful, but this damage can build up over time
@@tk50000Ah it depends on the type of dye you are using in the gel. @emilyslicer2843 is using fluorescent dyes, when I was in school and in clinical practice we used non-fluorescent dyes (ie visible in normal light, chemical based reactions). You should probably at least have gloves and a face shield tho....
@@tk50000it depends on the setup :) One lab has a big enclosed thing with a live camera But in cases where we needed to cut out pieces of gel for purification or take closer looks in general we would use a big flat UV light that had a removable UV filter cover my coworker had his sleeve bunched up while cutting out the bands and got a nasty burn
I’m a licensed cosmetologist and I specialize in nails, makeup and lashes and that shit looks terrifying 😂 I’d never put a nail lamp on my eye. And yes absolutely the risk of reaction is high! What’s even scarier is you can already go blind with normal lash extension glue so I can’t imagine this uv glue is any different and then if it’s not properly cured similar to a nail?! Nail reactions from uncured gel is typically LIFE LONG same as reactions to lash glue! This is gonna be a plethora of law suits in the future. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I feel like this is going to create an acrylate allergy in some people, especially since the glue is near the eye and if it’s not cured properly. An acrylate allergy is a literal nightmare since acrylates are in EVERYTHING.
I developed a severe allergic reaction to the uv lamp that didn’t correctly cure my gel nail extensions. My nails were able to recover after a year! Imagine the damage to sensitive eyes. Ophthalmologists will be seeing an increase in ocular disorders all to retain lashes for an extra few days

Please do a lash extension deep dive. I worked at a lash extension salon as a receptionist and as a manager. I was the middleman between clients and the lash artists and learned a lot from that. My salon prioritized the lash health as opposed to just doing super long and thick lashes if you had weak and / or thin lashes. We had to educate a lot of people on lash health,care etc. I can't imagine what this is gonna cause for salons now.

So!!! I do nail things and I make resin things. I’m extremely allergic to many gels, and I’m allergic to UV resin and heat activated. I literally had an allergic reaction to my first cast. First there is a heat spike when it activates. Second, it emits EVOCs Those things may bother anyone. What happens if you’re allergic?? How are you removing that????
I work with resin too and I was thinking all these things as well! I’ve had uv resin on my fingers and gotten little burns from the lamp… I can’t imagine that on the eye lid 😣
i got my cosmetology license in 2021 i want to say and i was the first group for my state where lashes got included in the cosmetology license and i haven’t done any since school and so minimal to everything but “pop them off” for removal is NEVER OKAY OR TAUGHT in my experience it’s you banana peel them apart or my teacher said “kiss them apart” aka rub tools with remover back and forth to loosen the lash you should never PULL a lash off omggg
first of all, i would love to see a super deep dive into the lash industry (more deep dives in general tho) using a UV light for your lashes seems so scary to me. i think it’s way too new. let’s say (in the future) they find actual evidence to show that it’s safe, i think it needs to be heavily regulated to make sure its the correct UV light and not some cheap knockoff (but even then, i’d be too scared)

Holy crap! Just when I think we’ve heard it all. This could be a great horror movie salon movie - eyelash, butt injections, teeth, lips, dumpster driving for cosmetics behind Ulta, etc. The resulting zombie frankenbeauty would be truely frightening.
You can become sensitized to this and develop an allergy to to the UV gels. The skin of our eyelids is pretty thin. Putting UV light on that thin skin repeatedly can damage the cells. UV light can pass through your eyelids and hurt your eyes. If The clients eyes aren’t closed completely the light can also reach your eyes and cause health issues. Unless that tape is UPF rated I don’t trust it to protect anything, even if it’s black. It being black doesn’t make it super protective, a black cotton t-shirt only has a UPF 4 rating.
I've always thought most lash extensions look like fuzzy caterpillars on their eyes 😅 Most are waaaay overfilled and look terrible. And omg I really hope they're not using uv resin as the "glue"... There's going to be some terrible horror stories about this uv lash stuff soon.
Less than the lamps?! A ton of lamps are already too low (wattage wise) and we have seen the consequences.. people allergic to gel nails, adhesives, literally everything basically for the rest of their lives. Nightmare fuel
All I hear when she says “the light is way less powerful than a nail lamp” is that the chance the glue is going to be undercured is way higher which means your chances of getting an allergy go way up. Also I know with nails, not all lamps are at the right wavelengths to cure all gels… hate to imagine what that means for this stuff 😭

commercial tanning beds are banned in Australia because of UV radiation... so I literally cannot imagine this is at all safe long term. but that glue close to the eyes?! thats gotta be so much worse
Okay, regarding the curing time. It sounds 5-7 curing time would be the before the adhesive it fully dries or “cures”, and you can adjust or reapply before you make a mistake. But then you cure it with 1-2 with the lamp. There are plenty of adhesives that cure in that time and they can probably all lift a kitchen tile or whatever. Seems like a gimmick that isn’t worth the risk

As an esthetician, I'm freaked out by this and would never use this on my clients. What happens if they have a reaction and can't get back in to get them removed? The remover for normal adhesives probably won't work on this, and if they supposedly stay on so much better than normal extensions, I'm a little skeptical of them just "popping off"... Innovation is great, but we need to make sure we balance it with caution. You only get one set of eyes in this life, it's just not worth it.
I use UV lights for my UV resin and I’ve read not to leave my hands under it for too long so if it’s not good for my hands I sure as shit won’t be putting it in my eyes!
I already have a ton of eye problems and have to see my optometrist every 6 months, theres no way im shining lights all up in my eyes. No way. I IPL my jaw line, and i wear glasses, a head band over the glasses, and i close my eyes, and i dont go higher than my lips😂 theres absolutely no way someone could even pay me to do that. No way.

I used to work at a company that sold UVC lights for air and surface disinfection. Like the light kills germs. Not all UV light is UVC and I would assume these lights are not (because UVC is harder to get/more expensive) but UV light will absolutely burn you. That's how it disinfects. It incinerates germs and even deteriorates some soft plastics. What do you think it will do to your EYES
It’s been proven in other scenarios that manufacturers sometimes lie about the UV filter on their product. They might say that the product is producing a safe-er wavelength of UV light but without testing there’s no way to prove it. That’s why you have to be careful when buying UV-C lights for room sanitization.
Like there was like that big NFT party last year where like pretty much everyone who used the bathroom had like some kind of eye damage from the UVC lights that got passed off as regular black lights
The saddest part of all is that these lashes don't actually even look good IMO! Since when did having caterpillars as eyelashes become the norm?! It's only a matter of time before someone becomes blind or ends up with a scratched retina because of the UV light.

I have never had issues with my nails before, had gorgeous natural nails and did acrylics and gel here and there, sometimes myself and messed my nails up for a week or two only. It was fine. Whenever I went to professionals it was fine. But the past 6-8 months I’ve been under extreme stress. When I got my nails done in April i developed such an awful allergy to them that I’m still regrowing my nail bed. This screams dangerous! Developing an allergic reaction to a point where even mascara on natural lashes would be painful, is NOT worth it from the UV lashes.
Lash tech here! Not sure about the UV glue, but most regular lash glues cure in a few minutes now (it used to be 24-48 hrs). We also use bonder which cures the glue, so before they leave the appointment their glue is cured. So the whole pieces falling into their eye thing - not gonna happen. Regular lash extensions are safe for the eyes if done by a professional who is licensed and certified!
When I used to do lash extensions (licensed) I had some clients who physically can’t completely close their eyes. So there is a little sliver of their eye showing. In that case I used sensitive glue….i cannot imagine this…
So when they say “it’s not coming off” they mean that when that individual natural lash sheds, the extension will shed with the natural lashes. That’s why it is very important to ISOLATE the individual natural lashes. So when they go in to get infills, the artist is lashing the new hair growth. Also we can still use regular lash glue removal and remove them just like a regular lash glue
snow blindness from the wrong kind of UV lights?? Extra strong glue on eyelashes just makes me think of getting your eyelid glued closed, honestly. Would absolutely watch a lash tech video - especially if you're including the lash tint/semipermanent curl types too!
I know that people who were still into NFTs in 2023 aren’t really the most sympathetic victims but like there was that party last year where that happened to everyone who used the bathroom at the event because there were industrial grade sanitization UV lamps installed instead of regular blacklights for partying
That Aussie lash tech gave so much information in such a relatively short video! He did a great job talking about the risks. Unfortunatley, informative videos aren't as eye-catching as trendy 5-second vids, so I worry that bad info will outweigh the good on platforms like tiktok
So I’m a licensed cosmetologist and I am honestly scared for our industry. Recently I was doing a clients hair and told me that she’s been ordering lash equipment off amazon. Not the little sets you can do yourself and they fall off within a day or two, no no… like everything that you would see in a lash service. A friend of mine used to be her lash artist and she was furious when I told her about this. This particular client does not have a lot of strong lashes and has been doing very heavy sets on herself and filling them weekly. I told her how this could be potentially dangerous since she’s not trained in these services or licensed to do so (considering she could damage her eyes or more likely her very fine lashes) and she replied with “well I see people offering classes without licenses on tik tok so I don’t see why I can’t learn for myself”. When I asked her where she learned how to do this she replied with YT. That’s not even the worst part. Leading up to this moment we were discussing the unlicensed esthetician who gave 3 people HIV from microneedling, and then about the lip filler bandit you were talking about and she was MAD. Not because people were getting hurt, but because she’s providing lip filler services unlicensed… for reference my client is a nurse. So let me get this straight it’s NOT ok for unlicensed service providers to do lip fillers but it’s OK for her to do lash services on herself being an unlicensed estie? I’m still fuming. And before anyone comes for me I’m absolutely not saying that it’s ok to provide services unlicensed, and for sure injectables can 100% be more life threatening, but the hypocrisy in her statement is blowing my mind.
I work with UV resin bc I am a crafter and let me tell you this is insane to me!!!!! It is not supposed to be inhaled or breathed in directly and also not suppose to touch skin because of allergies and it’s toxic!!! Wth and why would someone put a toxic substance on your eyelash!! Also this is definitely going to break off every natural lash someone has!!! Most UV resin isn’t that flexible… idk this is crazy to me smh 🤦🏻♀️
I just wanna say that as a chemist and someone who gets their nails done with gel polish since I work with acetone, this is beyond unsafe. Outside of this crazy glue, UV light exposure like that is not good for your eyes and skin. They even tell you that you should be wearing sunscreen on your hands when you get your nails done. I haven't read enough about it but UV light is what affects your skin when you're exposed to sun so having it in skin as sensitive as your eyelid is a pretty bad idea
I have to wear sunglasses in summer every day because I have very light green eyes that are super sensitive to sunlight. I can't imagine purposely putting UV lights near my eye balls. 🙀
Gel allergies are no joke! The risk to develop allergies is higher when people do at-home gel nails and poorly applied services. Acrylates and HEMA are used in medical and dental devices and it makes receiving proper medical care extremely difficult. Especially if you develop allergies after exposure to medical devices or worse if they're inside you.
To anybody saying oH bUt WhY dOeS tHe tEsTiNg eVeN mAtTeR...if these Chinese companies are making their lights as cheaply as Chinese manufacturers do, you have no idea how they're cutting corners on their diodes and control circuits-so one light could be 365nm at 60W for 5 seconds, another could be 385nm at 65W for 7 seconds. These are exactly the kinds of things you need to be confident about knowing to keep customers safe.

A bit confused because led cured gel for nails can ONLY be removed two ways, either filing it off or dissolving it with acetone, because of how hard it cures. Not sure if the glue would have to be removed a similar way but acetone is definitely way too harsh for the eyes. Also the pop off method would most likely leave residue or crusties like Isabella mentioned. This just feels wrong all around, and I have too many questions lol
And here was me umming and ahhing over going to a reputable place for LVL lashes! I spent ages looking it up before i went! Ive been thinking about extensions but after this, I honestly think I'll stick to my straight and wispies and get them tinted and lifted every now and then thank you very much! I pay a good amount to get my lashes done, for good reason!

There's such a big prep difference between the first tech at 3:03 and the later tech at 12:39. Like maybe if the first tech had applied the black under eye patch and extra layers of tape on the upper eyelid, her client wouldn't have flinched and experienced discomfort. It's safe until proper safety measures aren't followed. That goes with any beauty enhancement, including tattoos and botox.
So, does the glue work like resin? If so, wouldn't the curing process be an exothermic reaction? I can't imagine the heat generated so close to the could be safe.

Yes, we need a lash extension deep dive please! I'm 23 now and I've been getting lash extensions for the past two years, but the glue is so strong that it made my eyes really sensitive over time. I have now stopped getting lash extensions because my eyes got so sensitive and I've had allergic reactions. People (including me) really have to be more careful when getting lashes.
Not only is the led/UV light very dangerous for the eye and surrounding skin area, but I’m almost CERTAIN that it’s the same UV gel used for crafts and nail extensions. That is not skin safe, especially for people who have certain plastic sensitivities. Additionally, people can develop allergies when the gel is exposed to open skin or mucous membranes like the sclera (aka YOUR EYES!!!) this is so concerning and dangerous, not to mention the risk of getting the uncured gel into the eyes

I’ve noticed this too and it sucks bc I don’t think (most) people have bad intentions… it’s just a combination of hustle culture and the fact that in this current job market, I’m *sure* black and brown women have a disproportionately difficult time finding a job in an already difficult market, so they keep looking for side hustles to earn money (and turn to side hustlers for better deals to spend what money they do have), but the problem with small business is that if you want to do it right, it costs a lot of money up front, so to get the cash going faster, people cut corners. And it sucks, bc it hurts everyone involved. I just really hope people don’t use this as an excuse to be racist or misogynistic, bc truly, scammers of every gender and race exist out there.

As an Aussie who's had the dangers of UV drilled into me from childhood, it blows my mind that these people are allowing UV light to get so close to people's eyes.
Hell, I get my legs lasered regularly, and even then I still have to wear goggles to protect my eyes. I know it's not the same as a UV light, but the fact that I still have to protect my eyes from something that gets done to the lower half of my body means that there's no excuse for the lack of eye protection!

Nail artist here! There’s no way this is deemed eye safe. Gel that needs to be cured WILL give you a gel allergy after repeated skin exposure. There’s no way they’re able to avoid getting the gel onto your actual eyelid. People are gonna end up with gel allergies around their eyes. Also, we remove gel by filing it down and then soaking our nails in acetone…HOW are they removing these lashes??? Popping them off..?! If it’s that strong you aren’t just gonna POP IT OFF 🤦🏼♀️

@@addison2108 unfortunately I am intimately familiar with it due to an unrelated autoimmune disorder that caused a very rare (in connection to my illness) complication called basement membrane dystrophy. Basically the dermatitis on my eyelid caused reoccurring corneal abrasion over and over until it had completely sanded away parts of my cornea. It was insanely painful and caused an emergency trip to the eye doctor. She had to apply a triple-thick placental graft and special contact lenses to my eyes in order to get them where they could heal. I couldn’t work for two weeks because I couldn’t see to drive. Maybe I’m being dramatic and I know what happened to me was completely unrelated to any eye/lash treatment… I’m just so worried about something happening to someone like this or worse because of untested or tampered or unsafe products/procedures.

As a manager of a lash studio I NEED you to do a deep dive of unethical lash artists!! Most states require you to have at least a cosmetology/ esthetician license but some major cities do not (Atlanta, Florida and Texas do not require licenses just certification) people do not understand how dangerous lash extensions can be! The main reason a lot of states require licenses is for SANITIZATION, which is the main issue with unlicensed lash techs. Lash extension adhesive is very dangerous and requires the proper training to do extensions properly and safely (it can cause blindness, it’s very flammable and toxic) In the almost 4 years of working in the lash industry, I’ve seen the scariest damage, infections, and overall horrid work of unlicensed techs. I’ve even had to refer clients to eye doctors because we do not have the education to deal with things like blepharitis, leamy, etc. ALSO to add on, if you are using lash adhesive that’s from a reputable seller (livbay, Paris, etc. NOT Amazon or Shein) the adhesive dries within 2-3 seconds. UV light extensions literally make no sense, and is a side eye especially knowing how proper lashing works. Not only that, the lash glue dries but needs to be fully cured by a bonder. Lash extensions should be shedding out with your natural lashes when applied correctly, so it is NOT a good thing to have them last/ on for a month! This is a nightmare scam that’s taking advantage of uneducated clients and it’s DISGUSTING! This is highway robbery.
I used to work at an orthodontist office and we used UV for the braces and that has a whole shield for the user??? and my biggest warning was "Don't look at the light" This feels... risky....
that glue uses a 200-ish nm setting glue, thats way more dangerous, its the glues in this case thats dangerous, since its probably just uv resin being sold as lash glue, by the knock-offs atleast
My husband is a chemist who worked with similar technology and when I told him about these lash extensions he could not believe that this was being done. It’s just so dangerous to do this around your eyes.

We've already seen these people buying products off Amazon to use on clients. Im afraid its only a matter of time before a tech buys the uv lights or adhesive from a cheap site and seriously harms someone. Hell it could be gorilla glue in the future. I buy uv resin for my job all the time and there is no one formula or consistency between these companies. I fear it'll be the same for these new adhesives.
Wasn't that because the gorilla glue bottle was similar to her hair gel? I was using gorilla glue today to fix my glasses and if I got the bottle mixed up I would assume the glue was a cosmetic product.

Actually the study Youre referring to wasn’t well done to be able to say it causes cancer. Basically, they left the cells under the UV lamp for much longer than someone would do for their nails and they failed to control for other factors.

I’ve worked in a molecular lab, where we use UV light to make DNA fluoresce and identifiable in gel. We wear lab coats, face shields and neck covering when the UV light it just on and exposed

@@tk50000Ah it depends on the type of dye you are using in the gel. @emilyslicer2843 is using fluorescent dyes, when I was in school and in clinical practice we used non-fluorescent dyes (ie visible in normal light, chemical based reactions). You should probably at least have gloves and a face shield tho....

I’m a licensed cosmetologist and I specialize in nails, makeup and lashes and that shit looks terrifying 😂 I’d never put a nail lamp on my eye. And yes absolutely the risk of reaction is high! What’s even scarier is you can already go blind with normal lash extension glue so I can’t imagine this uv glue is any different and then if it’s not properly cured similar to a nail?! Nail reactions from uncured gel is typically LIFE LONG same as reactions to lash glue! This is gonna be a plethora of law suits in the future. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I feel like this is going to create an acrylate allergy in some people, especially since the glue is near the eye and if it’s not cured properly. An acrylate allergy is a literal nightmare since acrylates are in EVERYTHING.
I got lash glue in my eye on 2018 and I didn’t do lashes again until 2022 because my eye was glue shut and it hurt so bad .

I developed a severe allergic reaction to the uv lamp that didn’t correctly cure my gel nail extensions. My nails were able to recover after a year! Imagine the damage to sensitive eyes. Ophthalmologists will be seeing an increase in ocular disorders all to retain lashes for an extra few days

Please do a lash extension deep dive. I worked at a lash extension salon as a receptionist and as a manager. I was the middleman between clients and the lash artists and learned a lot from that. My salon prioritized the lash health as opposed to just doing super long and thick lashes if you had weak and / or thin lashes. We had to educate a lot of people on lash health,care etc. I can't imagine what this is gonna cause for salons now.

i got my cosmetology license in 2021 i want to say and i was the first group for my state where lashes got included in the cosmetology license and i haven’t done any since school and so minimal to everything but “pop them off” for removal is NEVER OKAY OR TAUGHT in my experience it’s you banana peel them apart or my teacher said “kiss them apart” aka rub tools with remover back and forth to loosen the lash you should never PULL a lash off omggg

using a UV light for your lashes seems so scary to me. i think it’s way too new. let’s say (in the future) they find actual evidence to show that it’s safe, i think it needs to be heavily regulated to make sure its the correct UV light and not some cheap knockoff (but even then, i’d be too scared)

You can become sensitized to this and develop an allergy to to the UV gels. The skin of our eyelids is pretty thin. Putting UV light on that thin skin repeatedly can damage the cells. UV light can pass through your eyelids and hurt your eyes. If The clients eyes aren’t closed completely the light can also reach your eyes and cause health issues. Unless that tape is UPF rated I don’t trust it to protect anything, even if it’s black. It being black doesn’t make it super protective, a black cotton t-shirt only has a UPF 4 rating.

All I hear when she says “the light is way less powerful than a nail lamp” is that the chance the glue is going to be undercured is way higher which means your chances of getting an allergy go way up. Also I know with nails, not all lamps are at the right wavelengths to cure all gels… hate to imagine what that means for this stuff 😭

Okay, regarding the curing time. It sounds 5-7 curing time would be the before the adhesive it fully dries or “cures”, and you can adjust or reapply before you make a mistake. But then you cure it with 1-2 with the lamp. There are plenty of adhesives that cure in that time and they can probably all lift a kitchen tile or whatever. Seems like a gimmick that isn’t worth the risk

As an esthetician, I'm freaked out by this and would never use this on my clients. What happens if they have a reaction and can't get back in to get them removed? The remover for normal adhesives probably won't work on this, and if they supposedly stay on so much better than normal extensions, I'm a little skeptical of them just "popping off"...
Innovation is great, but we need to make sure we balance it with caution. You only get one set of eyes in this life, it's just not worth it.
I use UV lights for my UV resin and I’ve read not to leave my hands under it for too long so if it’s not good for my hands I sure as shit won’t be putting it in my eyes!
I already have a ton of eye problems and have to see my optometrist every 6 months, theres no way im shining lights all up in my eyes. No way. I IPL my jaw line, and i wear glasses, a head band over the glasses, and i close my eyes, and i dont go higher than my lips😂 theres absolutely no way someone could even pay me to do that. No way.

I used to work at a company that sold UVC lights for air and surface disinfection. Like the light kills germs. Not all UV light is UVC and I would assume these lights are not (because UVC is harder to get/more expensive) but UV light will absolutely burn you. That's how it disinfects. It incinerates germs and even deteriorates some soft plastics. What do you think it will do to your EYES
It’s been proven in other scenarios that manufacturers sometimes lie about the UV filter on their product. They might say that the product is producing a safe-er wavelength of UV light but without testing there’s no way to prove it. That’s why you have to be careful when buying UV-C lights for room sanitization.
Like there was like that big NFT party last year where like pretty much everyone who used the bathroom had like some kind of eye damage from the UVC lights that got passed off as regular black lights

I have never had issues with my nails before, had gorgeous natural nails and did acrylics and gel here and there, sometimes myself and messed my nails up for a week or two only. It was fine. Whenever I went to professionals it was fine. But the past 6-8 months I’ve been under extreme stress. When I got my nails done in April i developed such an awful allergy to them that I’m still regrowing my nail bed. This screams dangerous! Developing an allergic reaction to a point where even mascara on natural lashes would be painful, is NOT worth it from the UV lashes.
Lash tech here! Not sure about the UV glue, but most regular lash glues cure in a few minutes now (it used to be 24-48 hrs). We also use bonder which cures the glue, so before they leave the appointment their glue is cured. So the whole pieces falling into their eye thing - not gonna happen. Regular lash extensions are safe for the eyes if done by a professional who is licensed and certified!
So many of these lash jobs look absolutely ridiculous.
Also....I wouldn't do any service that isn't taught in an accredited college or institution.

When I used to do lash extensions (licensed) I had some clients who physically can’t completely close their eyes. So there is a little sliver of their eye showing. In that case I used sensitive glue….i cannot imagine this…

So when they say “it’s not coming off” they mean that when that individual natural lash sheds, the extension will shed with the natural lashes. That’s why it is very important to ISOLATE the individual natural lashes. So when they go in to get infills, the artist is lashing the new hair growth. Also we can still use regular lash glue removal and remove them just like a regular lash glue
snow blindness from the wrong kind of UV lights?? Extra strong glue on eyelashes just makes me think of getting your eyelid glued closed, honestly.

So I’m a licensed cosmetologist and I am honestly scared for our industry. Recently I was doing a clients hair and told me that she’s been ordering lash equipment off amazon. Not the little sets you can do yourself and they fall off within a day or two, no no… like everything that you would see in a lash service. A friend of mine used to be her lash artist and she was furious when I told her about this. This particular client does not have a lot of strong lashes and has been doing very heavy sets on herself and filling them weekly. I told her how this could be potentially dangerous since she’s not trained in these services or licensed to do so (considering she could damage her eyes or more likely her very fine lashes) and she replied with “well I see people offering classes without licenses on tik tok so I don’t see why I can’t learn for myself”. When I asked her where she learned how to do this she replied with YT.
That’s not even the worst part. Leading up to this moment we were discussing the unlicensed esthetician who gave 3 people HIV from microneedling, and then about the lip filler bandit you were talking about and she was MAD. Not because people were getting hurt, but because she’s providing lip filler services unlicensed… for reference my client is a nurse.
So let me get this straight it’s NOT ok for unlicensed service providers to do lip fillers but it’s OK for her to do lash services on herself being an unlicensed estie? I’m still fuming.
And before anyone comes for me I’m absolutely not saying that it’s ok to provide services unlicensed, and for sure injectables can 100% be more life threatening, but the hypocrisy in her statement is blowing my mind.
I work with UV resin bc I am a crafter and let me tell you this is insane to me!!!!! It is not supposed to be inhaled or breathed in directly and also not suppose to touch skin because of allergies and it’s toxic!!! Wth and why would someone put a toxic substance on your eyelash!! Also this is definitely going to break off every natural lash someone has!!! Most UV resin isn’t that flexible… idk this is crazy to me smh 🤦🏻♀️

I just wanna say that as a chemist and someone who gets their nails done with gel polish since I work with acetone, this is beyond unsafe. Outside of this crazy glue, UV light exposure like that is not good for your eyes and skin. They even tell you that you should be wearing sunscreen on your hands when you get your nails done. I haven't read enough about it but UV light is what affects your skin when you're exposed to sun so having it in skin as sensitive as your eyelid is a pretty bad idea
I have to wear sunglasses in summer every day because I have very light green eyes that are super sensitive to sunlight. I can't imagine purposely putting UV lights near my eye balls. 🙀

Gel allergies are no joke! The risk to develop allergies is higher when people do at-home gel nails and poorly applied services. Acrylates and HEMA are used in medical and dental devices and it makes receiving proper medical care extremely difficult. Especially if you develop allergies after exposure to medical devices or worse if they're inside you.
This is why I stick to curling my natural lashes and adding two coats of brown mascara.

I know and understand the risks of using uv to cure gel nails and I'm okay with it. But I want UV no where near my eyes.
To anybody saying oH bUt WhY dOeS tHe tEsTiNg eVeN mAtTeR...if these Chinese companies are making their lights as cheaply as Chinese manufacturers do, you have no idea how they're cutting corners on their diodes and control circuits-so one light could be 365nm at 60W for 5 seconds, another could be 385nm at 65W for 7 seconds. These are exactly the kinds of things you need to be confident about knowing to keep customers safe.
5min in and absolutely not, as a nail tech NO. We use UV daily and get heat spike easily. On my eyes??? NOOOOO. Not to mention gel can cause contact dermatitis. Can you imagine that on YOUR EYE BALLS? bye absolutely not. I get my lashes done professionally and even reg lash extensions fucking sick to get done/fill. Period,

A bit confused because led cured gel for nails can ONLY be removed two ways, either filing it off or dissolving it with acetone, because of how hard it cures. Not sure if the glue would have to be removed a similar way but acetone is definitely way too harsh for the eyes. Also the pop off method would most likely leave residue or crusties like Isabella mentioned. This just feels wrong all around, and I have too many questions lol
And here was me umming and ahhing over going to a reputable place for LVL lashes! I spent ages looking it up before i went! Ive been thinking about extensions but after this, I honestly think I'll stick to my straight and wispies and get them tinted and lifted every now and then thank you very much! I pay a good amount to get my lashes done, for good reason!

There's such a big prep difference between the first tech at 3:03 and the later tech at 12:39. Like maybe if the first tech had applied the black under eye patch and extra layers of tape on the upper eyelid, her client wouldn't have flinched and experienced discomfort. It's safe until proper safety measures aren't followed. That goes with any beauty enhancement, including tattoos and botox.
So, does the glue work like resin? If so, wouldn't the curing process be an exothermic reaction? I can't imagine the heat generated so close to the could be safe.

Yes, we need a lash extension deep dive please! I'm 23 now and I've been getting lash extensions for the past two years, but the glue is so strong that it made my eyes really sensitive over time. I have now stopped getting lash extensions because my eyes got so sensitive and I've had allergic reactions. People (including me) really have to be more careful when getting lashes.

Not only is the led/UV light very dangerous for the eye and surrounding skin area, but I’m almost CERTAIN that it’s the same UV gel used for crafts and nail extensions. That is not skin safe, especially for people who have certain plastic sensitivities. Additionally, people can develop allergies when the gel is exposed to open skin or mucous membranes like the sclera (aka YOUR EYES!!!) this is so concerning and dangerous, not to mention the risk of getting the uncured gel into the eyes
