I have to laugh when people say that Fallkniven knives are "overpriced." Once you actually use one for a while, you realize they are actually an excellent knife for the money, and better priced than some other options. Especially with the COS steel. The "X" series are a great value, imo.
Great review, very detailed and coherent, I have just picked up the F1X to add to my F1, S1X and A2, initial impressions are very positive, small enough for overnight wild camps etc but tough as hell, I am a huge fan of the new laminated cos steel too. Cheers, Chris, Wales UK.
I have one, and it is gorgeous to view and easy to grip. It is not my camp knife nor my hiking knife for the reasons that you listed. However, I do intend to use it in heavy bushcraft tasks.
I like this. I have stayed away from Fallkniven knives until I came across this knife. I am going to sell several knifes, then go for one of these. Very nice review.
F1 Pro is exactly same steel just different handle shape. Laminated cobalt steel is in this series and pro ones as well. I have S1 Pro and knife is absolutely amazing. You should contact Dulo knife maker and you will be blown away with custom made knives and steel quality. I bought Dulo DBK K390 and paid €180 with shipping included so it’s around $200 US, there is no any other maker that make knives like Dulo period!
F1x/F1xb is stronger than the F1 pro. Just take a look at Fallknivens stress test charts. Also you do not risk the loosening guard, The x series is the most robust choice. The sheaths is also better and improved.
what makes it a heavy duty blade is that the lamination incorporates three layers of steel and while bent the pressures in the material sort of "dissipate" between the layers not transferring to the most compressed areas where they would accumulate. On the opposite, the external layes do not stretch that much with helps prevent cracking...The same priciple has been utilised in heavy duty crane hooks or in door lock deadbolts.
the real steel bushcraft with the convex grind has a secondary bevel. i removed mine after the first use because it seriously limited the potential of the knife.
You worry about the F1X being heavy to carry in a backpack? Really? As compared to a Mora? So you worry about carrying possibly another 3 or 4 ounces more? Totally Ridiculous.
@@Kevinclearysharpstuff Ha ha! Isn't that a bit of a contradiction? Another useless fact is that the swedish airforce and some other parts of the armed forces have the fällkniven f1 as a part of their weaponry as well, but I think you know that already.

Der cos bricht in der schneide fiel zu leicht aus
That sharpening choil is a thing of beauty

I carry the S1x when on duty in the Swedish Armed Forces and i must say that is just the right context for these knives.
Picked up R2 Scout today! Love it! Worlds best edc fixed blade.
indeed it is!
What a great review, extremely thorough and explains everything so well with clear shots, thanks 👍🏻

Fell in love with this particular model F1 so I purchased 1 in Elmax steel today. It’s instantly my new best ‘friend’ 😉
It is f1x, not f1
Just ordered one on eBay for $188. Score. Gave away my A1 to my uncle with and awesome aftermarket sheath. Needed a new one.
How easy is it to sharpen? its the continuous curve profile... seems like it would require water stones...
I got the elmax.
How do You like the f1x in elmax?
I had the FK Taiga Tf2 and found the lam cos to dull quickly.
6:37 😆even the mosquito wants to see the knife up close😂
Kevin, would love to see your full F1X-M4 comparison video! Thanks!
Wow, I found one in a surplus and returns store for a solid fiver. Great review
Bark River _ King of the convex! ;)
Bark River Bravo 1 has a convex edge i believe
it has
All Bark River knives have convex edges. Even their scandi grinds are done with a convex, or scandi-vex as they call them.
the real steel bushcraft with the convex grind has a secondary bevel. i removed mine after the first use because it seriously limited the potential of the knife.
bark river does convex grinds but not sure if that was what you were asking.
How well does this grind do on cutting rope. Thinking about this as knife for sailing.
Nice, but why so thick? I understand thickness in s1, but here?
I wish I had one if that helps ???
Better to compare it to the stainless Garberg, than the Bushcraft black.
yeah that would be a good comparison
Har du FK f1x ? Är den bra?
Will the classic F1 fit in F1X sheath?
Fantastic video!!!!
Awesome video review thanks eh
And it’s magnetic (the tip)
This video unintentionally taught me that blade geometry is more important than blade steel

Totally Ridiculous.
Ounces equal pounds, pounds equal pain.
Ounces do not equal pounds.
EDC👍
As a swedish guy I can give you a bit useless fact: "fällkniven" translates to "the folding knife"..that's all, folks
Hey thanks I will use this tidbit in future falkniven reviews

good!
It’s a crowbar disguised as a knife. That said I like the s1x better
Who is peeling apples? ;-)
Not sure why people talk about 0 degree grinds as it is an oxymoron and 'clique' language that is not helpful to the cutlery novice.
all factory convex knifes have a small secondary bevel. Also fällkniven and Bark river
Prefer the original F1
Good knife though I prefer my svord kiwi; full convex grind with a handle that's as secure and comfortable as a mora.
