The "flip" is key, with these small logs. It sets the tone for the whole fire. Well executed, Wade.
The F1X looks like a compact and functional knife & sheath combo. I have spent many days on trails in Sweden in the rain and damp. The trees in the wilder parts of Scandinavia tend to be birch and various conifers, so in that environment, corrosion resistance and decent toughness wins out over extreme toughness at the expense of corrosion resistance. So this is a knife that is designed for those conditions. Strong enough for surviving in the woods, but not meant for cutting through frying pans in RUclips videos, and so forth. They do seem a bit overpriced, but on the other hand, Fällkniven's relationship with the Swedish military demonstrates a certain level of reliability.
Boden, the town where the company is located, is way the heck up in northern Sweden, almost at the Arctic Circle, and maybe 250km from the Russian border. Boden is also about 250km north of Lycksele, where Casström knives are made, and probably 20 hours by car from Holmedal, Norway, where Helle knives are made. Road trip, anyone? Incidentally, when you cross into the Arctic by train, some Swede has painted the rocks white, and spread them out to look the the typical dashed line on maps. Swedes are helpful that way.
But back to the main point, when you live in northern Scandinavia, you need a reliable multipurpose knife, so these folks deliver that. 🐻🔪☕

Thinking of getting the Elmax version myself. I am looking at $300+ though , where I live.
Already have the new F1 Wolf ( Tungsten enriched VG7) , but this knife looks like a good choice also , as a good compact bush blade.

Great video! Love the coffee and feather sticks. My Elsi (a shepherd as well) has the same fixation with chewing on sticks. Cold smoked bones. Where do you find yours? We have to watch constantly for splintering.
Have liked the fallkniven knives for their utility. The most negative criticism about them is their price. Maybe someday….

@@Woodswalker1965 Great video! I guess one of the reasons F1 and other knives in that series have a slim handle is because of the need to fit in a cockpit and not tangle up in anything id a need for catapulting.

Do a review of Auroraborealisknives "Mountain man" when it comes out. I wana know how it compares to the "Kodiak". When i first look at it the mountain man it looks like its just a Kodiak with a fat gaping finger choil.wonder how the performance will differ between the two knives

Nice looking knife but like you say over priced. The Jaktkit knife does the same job if not better for half the price. I can't justify paying extra money just for the branding, Obviously each to their own. I do love my knives but the older I get the more I've come to realise that you don't have to pay a fortune for a good functional knife you can rely on in the field. I did enjoy your video as always and it's always interesting to see how these knives perform, so thanks for that. 😁👍🏻
