    The best part of the character map is that it looks like one that Jane Austin would write out herself!

      Aww thank you so much! I do wonder how Jane planned her character connections and plots - if she plotted them out in advance or just let things evolve as she was writing. The way the characters in her novels are so intertwined is so brilliant!

      BookishPrincess I think she was a master at mimicking real life. People are often interconnected even loosely and she made all of her relationships and characters so believable!

    You were my inspiration to start reading Jane Austen. The classic P&P had been on my TBR for a long time. I always thought JA was just for girls. When you started talking about it on your channel I finally picked it up. She gripped me with the first line. I have since read her other 5 novels.

    These videos are amazing! I'm currently reading "Emma", so I'll wait for your character map video!!

    This is awesome, Emma!! So well explained, and I love the beautiful handwriting and illustrations that I get to watch as I listen. This is a great resource for anyone looking to understand the book. I know when I first started reading Jane Austen I would have been lost if I hadn't previously watched the movies first to get acquainted with the story.

      Thank you so much!! The movies definitely help with understanding who's who. My mom and grandmother watched the adaptations when I was growing up, so I was familiar with the plots and characters of just about all Jane Austen's novels before I ever read them. 😂

    This was the perfect video for getting to know the characters and their relations!! Thank you for making it. Also, your writing and voice fit so well with it (and the shooky pen is so cutee akhsksjs) 💜

    This is great, Emma! Have you ever read Longbourn? It's a great book, it takes a look at the events of pride and prejudice from the Longbourn servants' POV... Very entertaining! I'd love to see a video of you talking about some spin-offs of Jane Austen novels!

    • @BookishPrincess
      @BookishPrincess  4 года назад +2

      I actually haven't read a whole lot of spin-offs - mostly because I spend most of my time re-reading Jane's own works. 😂 But I need to check more of them out, it's fun to see a familiar story told from different perspectives - I did enjoy Austenland, both the movie and the book, and I think there's a sequel to that I haven't read yet.

    I absolutely adore your videos and I love your passion for Jane Austen. I've never read Austen before, but your videos have inspired me to try. I've decided to start Northanger Abbey. I'm 8 chapters in. Could you do a character map for this novel please? Thanks so much! 😊

    This was great, Emma! Fun and informative as usual! Hey, there's a book tag I saw today and I would love to see your answers to them. My friend Andrea did a version of the questions and I kept saying, "Hm! I wonder how Emma would answer that one? Oh, Emma likes Jane Austen too, I'll bet she'd have a Jane Austen book for that one..." And so on and so forth! haha! It's called the "My Life in Books Tag" and I hope you make a video of it. You can check out Andrea's choices at her channel, JeSuisJusteMoi. Or just maybe google the tag title for the questions, I guess. I wrote down several of Andrea's choices to check out, too :)

    Wow! I love Jane Austen!! Sense and Sensibility! I’ve read it many, many times, both in English and in Spanish, and I’ve watched two versions of it. Every time I see they’ll show it, the world stops and I watch it. I believe there is only one book Of Jane Austen’s which I haven’t read. I can’t find books in English here in Celaya, Mexico. So sad.

      That's a great thing to do while reading! It's fun in mysteries when you see the detectives map out all the characters and motivations.

    Emma, I happened to start reading this book because the ebook was only 0.99 cents. I am having a hard time staying focused, I am just on chapter 6. Do you have any tips for staying interested in reading (as a beginner 24 yr old that hasn’t read books in her adult life lol)

      Have you ever watched one of the movie adaptations of Pride and Prejudice? It can be fun to watch the film and read the book at the same time, and it might help you visualize the characters and become more familiar with the names!
