This was my generation..I was born in '54 and spoon fed every great rock and roll song till the 80;s...Watching Ed Sullivan with the greatest acts on Earth gave us all exactly what we needed to get up and boogie....We danced at our high schools..we danced on our local TV stations' American Bandstand on Saturday mornings...We danced in our basements. We danced in our yards and driveways.....the rhythm was in us. And, we couldn't sit still....Now, my generation is in their 60' & 70's and, sadly, we don't dance any more. We're fat, dumpy and our feet hurt.....But, when I see kids groovin' to songs in glorious black and white....I'm back there....That's me with the clean white sweater, slacks and penny loafers rockin' on.

"It's All Over Now" is a song written by Bobby Womack and Shirley Womack. It was first released by The Valentinos featuring Bobby Womack. The Rolling Stones had their first number-one hit with this song in July 1964.
Well, baby used to stay out all night long
She made me cry, she done me wrong
She hurt my eyes open, that's no lie
Tables turn and now her turn to cry
Because I used to love her, but it's all over now
Because I used to love her, but it's all over now
Well, she used to run around with every man in town
She spent all my money, playing her high class game
She put me out, it was a pity how I cried
Tables turn and now her turn to cry
Because I used to love her, but it's all over now
Because I used to love her, but it's all over now
Well, I used to wake in the morning, get my breakfast in bed
When I'd gotten worried she'd ease my aching head
But now she's here and there, with every man in town
Still trying to take me for that same old clown
Because I used to love her, but it's all over now
Because I used to love her, but it's all over now
Because I used to love her, but it's all over now

It's amazing how those three notes in the opening of I cant get no ( Satisfaction ) that resounded throughout the entirety of this song, 3 notes up then 3 notes back down that made the whole song. Because you see without those three notes in (I cant get no ) Satisfaction this song would have gone absolutely nowhere. I cant get no Satisfaction would have never been a big hit for The Rolling Stones without this three magic notes. This song was the number one rock song of 1965 because of a cascade of 3 simple notes. Over the top yet so simple. Like i said those 3 magic notes made the whole song.

As a student of the Stones, and since IMO this is one of their greatest sounding cuts, I have researched it a bit and here's what I've found, for those still interested: this was cut at Chess Studios in June of 1964 and engineered by Ron Malo who has said he basically used the same setup he would use for Chess sessions. There are photos that clearly show who played what. Despite the instruments seen on this show Brian had not yet gotten his Vox teardrop when it was cut. He played his Gretsch Anniversary model thru the Fender amp that Chess provided which was a piggyback Bandmaster. Keith played his '62 Epiphone Casino thru a brown Fender Concert-amp (not his Les Paul seen here). The Fender piggyback blackface Showman amps seen here were their touring amps but not used on this studio track. As to who played what, Keith has said "Brian came up with those great clanging notes. And Im doing the picking...and I did the solo too. Brian was doing all those changes, those big chords, you know..." (quote from the book "ROLLING STONES GEAR" by Andy Babiuk and Greg Provost, an amazing reference manual and historical document.

We were there live in person, in real time during that fantastic musical era.
