It would be so amazing if you had one of the directors of one of the examples used in this video to break down their thought process and tools used in creating their blocking. Ex. Paul Ross explaining the blocking for one of his sections with the choreo cookies
I NEEDED THIS! Right now, I'm in the middle of the process of making a performance for a hiphop competition and I wanted to spend more time on these things. Thank you Steezy ❤
I'm trying to learn to dance, but soon i'll be moving into a tiny dorm that doesn't have room to practice. Where should I go to practice if I'm not with a studio?
I usually go to a gym with my friends to practice. We use the zumba room, of course we pay but not much. Maybe you can partner with some ppl to do the same ^^
Outside or on the roof if there's a space you have access to, maybe behind the dorm building itself. You don't need mirrors as much as you think you do, try it without for a couple months and you'll see what I mean.
This was actually really helpful! I would love to see this process actually executed, like footage of showing the dancers where to go and learning the transition, to see how that process goes.
As soon as I saw this video title, I knew there would be tons of Choreo Cookies clips in the presentation, because they are the absolute masters at moving around the stage and have been for eons now. And yep, I was right. 😎
Hi guys i love your videos! they are so interesting and funny! I was wondering if you could do a video (like a mini compilation) of the differents dance styles (like evolution of dance or the different kinds of dance that exist nowadays) or like a video about the most iconic moves of the 2010's. It would be awesome. Love you guys XOXO. (Sorry for my english, i'm not a native speaker) XD
Dear Steezy, I have a question though, what are your tips on staging and formations for small groups like 5-7 people? Specailly how do you make the formation look bigger?
Some tips: use/lookup shapes the 5 or 7 sides, angles, points. 5 = pentagon(regular (to look big), concave, irregular), 5 point star. 7 = heptagon (regular(to look big, irregular (for traveling formation, 3 front and 4 back or vice versa). Also mix up shapes, 5= 1,2,2 or 2,3, or 2,1,2 and vice versa. 7= 1,1,2,3 or 2,2,3 or 3,4 or 2,1,1,1,2 or 2,5 and vice versa.
hey steezy, this is very helpful ,thanks.🙏 can you bring a video about solo dance,a singleperson dance ? how a solo dance hit the stage or make an awesome dance MV?
Question: I'm always blown away and at the same time extremely curious as to how dancers just have perfect formations and positions while performing on stage. They don't even look at the other members most of the time but still somehow manage to get to a flawlessly symmetrical formation, especially during fast paced choreographies. Obviously practice is involved but is that all there is to it? As someone who's really trying to self-learn dancing, does anybody have any tips to practice getting into positions?
im not professional but i dance w other ppl, just try to remember how may steps in each direction and make sure to practice the same @ home srry Ik that's not helpful
Also, when you have danced with people for a long time you get a sort of sense of their presence and (something I have experienced myself) the better you get along with your team, the better and faster you coordinate
Could you guys make a video on how to freestyle dance because my studio is very conservative and only provides us with ballet, pointe, and lyrical clases. And I've been wanting to try it out for such a long time.
Okay... anyone who's watched at least one dance comp vid can pick up on these. The difficult thing y'all refrained from giving tips on is knowing how to transition from one formation to another, what points in the choreo or song to move around the stage or stay in formation
Love this! You can also use StageKeep to do all your tips digitally! From storyboarding, workshopping (no more coins needed) and planning your pathways...but we take it a step further with music ;) Check us out!
Blocking describes the different ways you do the same dance move on stage. They give good examples in the video, and it all just boils down to how you change the choreo either slightly or drastically to make those cool stage effects.
I actually want to try the 7 day trial but I dont have a credit card and cant use my dad's and sister's because they will think im just tripping. :((((

I'm trying to learn to dance, but soon i'll be moving into a tiny dorm that doesn't have room to practice. Where should I go to practice if I'm not with a studio?
See if your school has a student gym you can use! They usually will have a yoga room or at least a large space with mirrors.

Good 😊
Great video soooooo good
Is it better start with the formation or the dance first?

Nice
what exactly is the difference between formations and blocking? :)
I could use this for when I film my concept video
How to have flow in any choreo. Or Any dance ?
🤩🤩🤩
1:54 - 1:56 could be subject to so many hilarious misinterpretations
I wish I could show this to my students, because it's good advice quickly. But, I can't because of the cursing.
I freaking wanna dance, but i don't dance so well, and i don't know how will i be able to dance or if i can even enroll to dance classes. 🤦♀️

I wish you could post a video without the word "ass" in big bold letters. My students would love this but can't use it in school :(
