  • In this video we will go over the reason to have a battery tender to keep your battery fully charged all the time. Not only is it beneficial to the battery but to the charger system as a whole.

Thanks for another excellent video on the old dynamo ( generator ) charging systems , I,m in england puzzling out a dead charging system on an old gas / kerosene ferguson tractor that is older than me , will try a known good replacement generator next , you have the open vented type that probably had a fan wheel fitted under the pulley to draw cooling air through it from back to front , good idea but needed the muck blasting out of it occasionally by compressed air line , as it tended to suck the muck in through it too . We are told the sealed types couldn,t generate quite so much power , but kept the muck out . Best Regards .

Well, the MGA generator can only provide about 22 Amps, right? With the headlights on, wipers on, blower on, the current draw starts to approach that limit. Add some aftermarket stuff and it goes up more. That situation looks pretty much the same as a low battery to the generator, doesn't it? Are you saying that going for a drive at night in the rain is going to melt the solder in my generator? I know those aren't ideal MG driving conditions, but sometimes you have to get home.
