Richard Tarnas, PhD, is a professor of philosophy and psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies, where he founded the graduate program in Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness. He teaches courses in the history of ideas, archetypal cosmology, depth psychology, and religious evolution. He is the author of The Passion of the Western Mind, a history of the Western world view from the ancient Greek to the postmodern widely used in universities; and Cosmos and Psyche, which received the Book of the Year Prize from the Scientific and Medical Network, and inspired the documentary series The Changing of the Gods. lakegeneva@tarnas.org
Our host Dr. Bernard Beitman is the first psychiatrist since Carl Jung to attempt to systematize the study of coincidences. He is Founding Director of The Coincidence Project. His book, and his Psychology Today blog, are both titled Connecting with Coincidence. He has developed the first valid and reliable scale to measure coincidence sensitivity, and has written and edited coincidence articles for Psychiatric Annals. He is a visiting professor at the University of Virginia and former chair of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He attended Yale Medical School and completed a psychiatric residency at Stanford. Wonderful interview. I'm a PhD student at CIIS and have been taught by both Rick Tarnas and his daughter, Becca in the ways of archetypal astrology, archetypal cosmology, and Jungian theory. In fact, my own dissertation research is on Jungian synchronicity theory and cosmogenesis as posited by Berry, Swimme, Teilhard, and others. Rick's books are both amazing. Cosmos and Psyche is actually how I found Rick, CIIS, and the PCC PhD program at CIIS. I've had many synchronicities in my life, which like you and others who study this wonderful gift of the universe, led me down a path of curiosity and wonder. Great interview with Rick's wife, Yvonne last year as well!

I believe “synchronicities” are occurring around us and through us constantly and when we tap into it and we “think” a synchronicity happened-we are actually just becoming aware of it. So let’s use this knowledge and be grateful for it. It is the language of nature…. Of the universe 🌟

3 days ago, while sitting by the river, an area called the, "water front", contemplating some extreme difficulty in my life, I gaze at some signage on a very old building, I see "Sake" written and its illuminous in my mind.
A few hours later 30 miles away at a beach, I go to use a Porta Potty, inside the word "Sake", immediately grabs my attention, it's written 5 tymes inside this Porta potty.
Here's the final kicker, I sit at a public picnic table by the beach, written on it, Sake...
I have not figured this out yet..

it is hard to interpret other people's dreams and synchronicities. Start with your own emotional response to this seriality and then let your mind go and see what happens. The clue is sometimes in your emotion. It is likely a comment on your difficulty.

While at the same time the baby born means something for the eagles. The idea of being us the only receptors of the anima mundi might also be overwheelming, that is why we tend to overlook it (in order I guess to dominate nature) It seems that we are touching some sort of fulcrum and I guess that the AI developments have to do about it in the sense that we are finally touching the edge of control.

Hi. Just a friendly request: this is my second attempt to lissen to your podcasts with this man. I also saw a intervju yesterday.
But it's so much rambling and no structure in the answers. It's unfortunately energy draining to lissen to some of your podcasts. Because the intervju object and the dialog are all over the place. normally the topic is uplifting. But this suck the life out of me.

An ancestor of mine is an astronomer called Thomas Wright from Byers Green, Bishop Auckland, England.
He was the first to describe the Milky Way and hypothesised on the subject of multiverse. I for one thought his views were completely flawed - utter bullshit. However in recent times since being cursed with something I can’t describe, I’ll cut him slack. You’re to wrapped up in synchronicity, how about some original thinking on what is manifest in i and the few.

thanks for your comment. So glad you expressed yourself. Each of us has our own set of filters for interpreting this reality. None of the guests on this show have one that fits everyone. You want nothing to do with meaningful coincidences. There are many in this world holding the same view.
