I have used your recipe in my semi truck! I have a 6 qt instant pot and a toaster oven, my wife's Mexican and I've spent the last 30 years eating her cooking and I miss it when I'm on the road. It's almost impossible for me to stop at "real" Mexican taqurera's because the size of my truck so I've been slowly learning to make my own. I've got a small gas table top grill and I get some strange looks when I'm setting in a truck stop parking lot laid over for the weekend somewhere in the Midwest and cooking carne asada on the back of my trailer! My wife will cube up a small tri tip then marinade it for a day then vacuum pack them and freeze them for me to take. Now if I could just find an easy way to make homemade tortillas in the truck I'd be set!
If you have a small stop top grill, find a small comal to place over the grill. For tortillas mix masa, salt and water and hand shape your tortillas:) I appreciate the follow and please stay safe on the road.
My husband loves your TikTok's so much he sent me 84 videos of your stuff so I knew I had to come find the RUclips videos so I could get the recipes!
Oh my goodness! Sounds like you are going to be busy! :)
I have never made carnitas before. Decided to try this recipe, and they were delicious. Will definitely use this recipe again.
Looks good can’t wait to try it, you made it look so easy

Made the carnitas yesterday and they came out delicious. I recommended using gloves when prepping the meat. Thanks for sharing your recipe! 🌮 🌯 🌮
I made this today and it’s absolutely delicious! Purchased an instapot just for this recipe. Looking forward to more instapot recipes. Thank you!

That was pretty good. I made it for my wife. She loved it.
Is there a substitute that we can put instead of the soda I can’t have any soda?

Looks very delicious! I need to make this recipe! Thank you for this!
Such a great instant pot recipe. Thank you for sharing ❤
I love carnitas
You are welcome!
Great job!! I make carnitas in our instant pot all the time. As a matter of fact leftover carnitas is what my wife packed for my lunch today, we made them a couple nights ago. My recipe is very close to yours, one difference being that instead of using dr. Pepper like you did, I use a cerveza and then a little splash of chicken stock. And when it’s time to brown them I do it in a skillet on the stove top in a little bit of lard (Manteca). My wife is Mexican, from the state of Coahuila, and she claims they are delicious so I guess they’re not too bad lol. Great recipe and great job!!👏🏻👌🏻
I am from California/Arizona and boy I miss Food City and all the little Mexican places. I can't wait to make this. I have learned how to make Tamales and going to try your Birra Tacos we tried at one point and it didn't turn out but after seeing your video I know what I did wrong.
I am going to have to bye me an instant pot. I have to make this recipe looks so good! Thanks for sharing!!❤️
You are going to love it! Food is done in half the time!
It’s is soooooooooo good. I’ve only used my instapot for small batches of tamales but am starting to find new uses for it after making this.
I've been doing it the lazy style not cutting the meat into cubes but yours looks way better. Never thought of deglazing with orange juice or adding dr pepper so def gonna give it a go. Thanks for sharing.
Hope you enjoy!
Hey Ana, just wanted you to know that my son and I are so happy we have found your channel. We can't wait to get started on your recipe's, they look fantastic. We are in England so we may have trouble to get some of your ingredients, but we are going to try our best as you have inspired us so much. I have asked Santa to bring me a tortilla press for Christmas and some massa flour so Charlie and I can make our own fresh tortillas together. Hope you have a lovely Christmas with your family. Love from the Parkin family.
Thank you so much! Let me know if Santa does not come through maybe we can arrange something to make Charlie's Christmas extra special ;)
Wow! I love carnitas made this way but only 1 place that makes them this way and to pay $3.50 a taco, no thank you. I cannot wait to make my own!! Thank you for sharing all of your recipes and that was Awesome that your husband helped you!!
Hope you enjoy! He loves to help, especially when there is tacos involved :)
It's crazy how much people are charging for a taco. I live in Los Angeles where Mexican food is plentiful but the price stops me from buying.
Easy to do, and so tasty. Thank you for such a great recipe,
Looks delicious!! I can’t wait to try your recipe! Thank you for sharing.
You are so welcome!
Super delicious looking. 😊
Going to make this for dinner tonight I think. Looks tremendous

Looks sooo delicious. Can't wait to try your recipe!
Please do!
@@SaltyCocina My pot will arrive soon! Thanks so much.
Looks delicious..glad I found your channel.
Doing this right now but I opted to do one thing different. Instead of searing the meat I put the chunks on the smoker with maple wood for about an hour then finish exactly as described here. Just put everything in the IP. Will probably finish in cast iron pan on the Egg instead of broiling. Smoking a pineapple also.🤙 I'll report back.
How was it?
Saw you on tik tok. You are amazing!!! Guys go see her on tik tok. Tons of quick recipes.
Thank you so much 😀
Thank you very nice
Yummy 🍰🍰🍰❤️❤️😘
What if anything do you do with the juice after the meat is cooked?
What is the down side with out using bay leaves or lime juice. Or is there a good substitute.
I've made it without the bay leaves and it comes out fine. The lime juice you can serve it as a side for topping. The orange juice is definately a must.
Thanks for sharing! Question for you... I am figuring I need to heat the salsa slightly or it needs to be at least room temperature before adding to the Carnitas? Your advice?
Hi 🤗
If I do it in a 6qt how much time should I do?
I would cook it for the same amount of time.
Is there a replacement for the soda ?? My husband can’t have it
What do you use the juice for?
Mmmmmmmm🤤
DELICIOUS
Do you think you could use the same recipe for the stove top in the instant pot?
Yes, absolutely
I don't have an instant. Can I just use a regular pot?
Iv'e always seen carnitas have milk in it. Does anyone think I could put milk in it when you add the first bit of Orange juice?
Did you cook it on high pressure?
What's the cooking oil u use thats white thanks
I followed the recipe to the letter, mine was a little dry and only did 1 10min run in the oven, only tweek was the pieces were a little bigger.hummm, but tasty
Is it a full 20 minutes total in the broiler?
Yes :)
What could we use the juices for? There’s so much when taking out of the pot.
You can save the broth for other recipes or lightly dip your tortillas before warming them up.
Use it for rice maybe?
Salty Cocina Mexican Food my husband did this with the tortillas tonight and they were HEAVEN!
Can you do it with less meat
Yes,
I have a comment hopefully u can help me I would love to make tacos Al vapor in my insta pot but I honestly don’t know how to go about it I just got my insta pot not to long ago so I’ve been looking at a lot of your recipes but so far I haven’t seen u do those tacos can u do a video of u making those please and thank you
If I have almost 8lbs of meat do I still cook for 30 min. Or more??
I would cook it for 45 minutes
Can I use these same ingredients for a slow cooker?
Of course :)
Can it be made with a regular pot? Of so would it be double the time? TIA
You can use a regular pot, It might just take a little bit longer.
Does it have to be Dr Pepper
You can leave out the Dr Pepper, I like to use it because it gives it a light sweet taste and more flavor
What would you recommend as a substitute instead of the Dr Pepper
Can you use Coke
Absolutely, I 've also used orange soda, the color is a little off but the taste is amazing.
where do I find the recipe?
In the description of the video
What size is your pot??
8 quarts
I would mix my seasoning first and put it in zip lock bag and put the pork pieces and massage it
I’m not sure if you are aware, but the sub title says your making cat meat. I know that’s not what you are saying but that’s what it says.
Can I take out the doctor pepper?
You can leave it out.
Why not just do a natural release? Most meat recipes do that. Just wondering
I’m wondering that too. Would doing that cook it longer?
That's a lot of salt
I made this and it came out delicious. So easy to do!
Glad you liked it!!
