we have a clue since some of the stuff we can see in the far past is now beyond the observablee horizon... but we have no idea how big the total thing is
orochimarujes the time we achieved light speed travel, we probably will never go outside of our galaxy because: 1. Light speed is still slow for space traveling. 2. The universe expands faster to the point of its faster than light. Unless we somehow invent warp travel but then space would be very dark, sad and less beautiful since no light from distant stars would arrive at our planet because of the speed of the expansion of universe
Kevin Sandoval Happy birthday i guess? but i mean the universe is expanding faster and faster that we wont be able to go outside of our galaxy, even see images outside of our own galaxy
dude, the universe is at least 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times bigger, just think of these superclusters but on such an unimaginable scale that the concept of the word big cannot be streached any farther, the universe could be,... infinate
What if these far away galaxies contain Earth-like planets with similar, yet slightly different, timelines to our own Earth timeline!!! I had a dream where I was able to travel to these places, and it blew my mind.
You have a great channel for someone with more than basic knowledge of cosmology. Most channels with any good in depth info like this tend to be more than I can understand without more than a casual interest in the make up of our universe. Or, the info is dumbed down to very basic, and therefore, uninteresting, because I already know it. This channel falls somewhere in the middle. A rare and informative find.
> The Milky Way is moving toward the Great Attractor at 200 kilometers per second. I've read that it is as much as 550 kilometers per second. Also, I think it is now known that the 'Great Attractor' is several large superclusters of galaxies.
That's actually fascinating, I did not realize that the Great Attractor was inside the Laniakea supercluster. I had previously assumed that it was completely outside the visible universe, and that all superclusters were being attracted by it, including the Laniakea. So each supercluster might have its own Great Attractor inside them?
The supervoid Eridanus is an interesting part of our Universe. You could have located it in this presentation. Nice video though, keep up with your work!
Be more amaze, 5% was probably a misreading of 1.0E-5%! Off by One million times! In essence, the present Universe is vaster than ten million Laniakea’s and still rapidly expanding!!!
Virgo Supercluster, not Virgo Cluster. To elaborate: Virgo Cluster is the tight grouping of galaxies nearby us in the constellation of Virgo about 65 million light years away from us. Virgo Supercluster consists of this and its nearby clusters, including the Local Group, which contains the Milky Way.
Laniakea may take up 5% of the "Observable" universe, though I haven't ever heard that comparison ... according to the theory of Inflation (The Big Bang Theory) the actual Universe is multitudes larger than the 93 billion light year expanse that is thought to be observable... Just sayin'... Cool video, though.
It's crazy when you think about how massive the area is that we can "see", but know that the rest is incomprehensibly bigger. Its utterly amazing and fascinating to me. And drives my curiosity insane. Something so massive that we are a part of, for me, begs the questions of, where is our universe expanding into and if it's truly expanding into something....how much bigger is THAT area itself? Lastly, if the Big Bang actually happened (all religious connotations and theories aside, as I personally dont believe in them for creation) then what was already there for the "material" to actually react and explode and form our universe? Sure we can hypothesis all we want....but we will most likely never know.
mike psyche What’s crazy is for as large as our observable universe is, if you can imagine that it can be contained inside of a normal lightbulb, and placed that lightbulb into the center of Pluto, that’s how big the actual universe itself is. A tiny lightbulb within what we used to consider a planet. And according to theory, it’s only going to continue to grow.
It makes sense that like kilonovas are to supernova, hyper black holes seem logical as an explanation for the great attractor. The most advanced places in our universe, where time killing machines collide and multiply in a inverse time relationship to the big bang. At undefined relative states, such as singularities, there may be a wrapping or correlation thru space-time.
This is the remake of Celestia 13 years ago. When do we get the jump ship and travel throught the Virgo system to meet other races in the tight cluster?
I must be missing something in Space Engine. I seem to only have Milky Way, Andromeda and the next nearby galaxy directly after Andromeda (I can't remember its name) in mine. The rest of the sim is pure black. I wanted to see how far I could "travel" overnight. I tested it, and began backing out slowly, but I eventually left my speed at 10 ly/sec and popped into spacecraft mode so it would continue to "coast" backwards without my need to hold the "S" key. (The music is very soothing to have softly playing while sleeping) However when I came back the next morning, the screen was just black (minus the pointer set on Earth) I figured I have just exited the Visible universe or at least left the boundaries of the simulation. But Upon the return trip (at a much higher rate of speed) Nothing flashed by. No streaks just blackness until I approached "home" and saw the three afore-mentioned galaxies beginning to appear on the screen. I think I'm missing a setting somewhere.
Laniakea should be called Megacluster since it encompass lots of superclusters within it like Supercluster Virgo which then envelopes Clusters such as Virgo, the Local Group which in turn has Milky Way, Andromeda and Triangulum.
That is insane how big the universe is and how can anyone work out where our home location is in the universe when it's so impossible to travel through it
I consider that we now are become "more aware" of these cosmic scales, that "insignificance" becomes obliterated .meaningless, as it should. See the edge of your imagination? Still got our voids of ignorance as we learn more nous. Let us realise and achieve our sublime states, depart from the known base common denominators, venality etc. Tricky and fickle in the box with Schrodingers cat and ampoule.sigh. great presentations Anton!!! Gratis. 57 year old farmboy.🍺🤔
The real question here is, would you know the matrix has changed, or will you change accordingly, so that there is no telling anything has ever changed
Could you do a video on Universe Sandbox 2 on what would happen in something was launched at our sun at the speed of light? I think that would be really cool!
And yes this ginormous supercluster of galaxies(acting as an arm) should be revolving around an exteremely heavy nucleus "maha black hole" as described in my research paper "Binding theory". Size of this object should be around 10 light years. If this cluster called laniakea is stable. Then our universe must be stable and non expanding.
@1:03 Doesn't the orbits are more helicoideal than just rounded orbit? In this model it seems the sun is still, but the sun is actually moving outward the galaxy and everything revolves around it, Earth included, as in a spiral shaped way similar to the DNA pathway. Sorry but my native language isn't english, but I still need some clarifying on this!
Size of the known universe is 90 billion light years across (in diameter in all directions). The Age is 13.2 billion light years. Due to expansion the size is much bigger then it’s age. The Actual universe is bigger then the known universe just like the known universe is bigger then an atom.
Hi still watching still love your stuff suggestion Could you maybe orbit what you want viewers to see because it's hard to distinguish depth in this 2d plain
great video! I'm a little confused though. You mention that Laniakea is like only 5% smaller then the size of the observable universe. If Laniakea is 520,000,000 ly across, and the the observable universe appears to have a diameter of 27,600,000,000 ly, or a diameter 91,000,000,000 ly compensating for expansion, Laniakea would be more on the league of being 53 or 175 times smaller then the observable universe, depending on whether that figure for Laniakea's size compensates for expansion or not. Am I stupid, am I missing something? I'm just curious, I'd be obliged if someone cleared this up. Or I'll research it myself later if I get the chance. I'm just confused at the moment. XD
Laniakea? I have to go visit there some day. Oh wait, I’m here!
yes your here not there
So your going to heaven? Bc it means it on Hawaii language oh yeah also the start was imessrible sorry I can spell
Me too!
The laniakeia supercluster is tiny area also, relative to the whole universe (observable).
And the observable universe is only possibly a small sector of the actual universe!
dude, I get anxious & feel small while standing alone on a southern California beach in the middle of the night (like, that freeks me out, I feel tiny) this video was that times 10x
Only times 10? Whoa, that must be one huge beach.
*100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
You get used to the feeling eventually
I feel bad now because there is so much to Explore and so little time :(
there is alot of time
Time is infinite in the next life.
Only the size of the universe itself could make 10^19 years seem short
capofigo not if you find the dragonballs and wish for immortality
@@RandomNameLastName811 it would be a shame if there is an afterlife, and you wasted your whole life believing otherwise.
The scale of the universe is so fucking scary
Ville Tampio ppl are afraid of what they don't know.
What's scary about it? It is what it is
vastness of space , distances and number of stars is mind blowing. brain blows up in trying to comprehend even tiny part of visible universe.
You post so frequently and so good keep up the good work
Very very very very very very frequently*.
:D
Halios Vergintus even if he doesn't upload much.… it still a very good channel

Holy shit, the universe is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo big!

light years
we have a clue since some of the stuff we can see in the far past is now beyond the observablee horizon... but we have no idea how big the total thing is
orochimarujes the time we achieved light speed travel, we probably will never go outside of our galaxy because: 1. Light speed is still slow for space traveling. 2. The universe expands faster to the point of its faster than light. Unless we somehow invent warp travel but then space would be very dark, sad and less beautiful since no light from distant stars would arrive at our planet because of the speed of the expansion of universe
Clarence John Alfonso The universe is expanding, not the galaxies
PS: Its my birthday
Kevin Sandoval Happy birthday i guess? but i mean the universe is expanding faster and faster that we wont be able to go outside of our galaxy, even see images outside of our own galaxy
IKEA cluster ! made in sweden
😂 Lan*IKEA* cluster!
10 million superclusters? that's Crazzy
wow, the universe is sooo big. this makes me feel so small.
dude, the universe is at least 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times bigger, just think of these superclusters but on such an unimaginable scale that the concept of the word big cannot be streached any farther, the universe could be,... infinate
Damieon Cormier aka DynastyLobster probably not
+Cheese C way to ruin a moment of amazment for the person i was setting it up for
true
who cares, amaze us😳
What if these far away galaxies contain Earth-like planets with similar, yet slightly different, timelines to our own Earth timeline!!! I had a dream where I was able to travel to these places, and it blew my mind.
K pax?
Wow so the whole laneakea super cluster is sooooooo big that it will actually fit on my phone screen wow thats huuuge
The size of the Observable Universe is just so awe-inspiring for me. It's like looking into the realm of the Gods.

Thank you, Anton. I dabble in this and found your presentation thoroughly enjoyable.
We are just Plankton in a sea of space being chased by time.
Hello wonderful Anton, this is person!
Soles be upon your bless!
> The Milky Way is moving toward the Great Attractor at 200 kilometers per second.
I've read that it is as much as 550 kilometers per second.
Also, I think it is now known that the 'Great Attractor' is several large superclusters of galaxies.
Wow, what a travel! 🌌
It's like a galaxy of galaxies :O
That's actually fascinating, I did not realize that the Great Attractor was inside the Laniakea supercluster. I had previously assumed that it was completely outside the visible universe, and that all superclusters were being attracted by it, including the Laniakea. So each supercluster might have its own Great Attractor inside them?
This is much more than supermassive blackholes. I wonder if this can be the proof of Cosmic Strings?
I don't think it could be a SMBH. Not massive enough to be a Great Attractor for a Supercluster. Even the Milky Way has a SMBH in its core.
Its other universes rubbing against ours.
Well, I do believe in the multiverse theory
Approximately 3/5 participant of every reply thread are completely making things up
2:50 Anton, the local group doesn´t rotate around itself. Andromeda is colliding the Milky Way on its way towards the center of gravity in the Virgo.
Great video!!! Thanks.
Don't forget Triangulum!
Thank you this was so so so intersting and keeps me up at night how big this is!
My mind is blown because superclusters and... I just realised that the main journey screen in Tetris Effect is the thumbnail, it’s our supercluster.
Thanks Anton!
thank you for calling me a wonderfull person, i never had such a good compliment in my life
The supervoid Eridanus is an interesting part of our Universe. You could have located it in this presentation. Nice video though, keep up with your work!
Anton It's possible isolate the cluster to better visualization. Like just virgo cluster or just local group.
When you said 5%...... I was amazed, I now understand the full scope of the term "time is precious"
Be more amaze, 5% was probably a misreading of 1.0E-5%! Off by One million times! In essence, the present Universe is vaster than ten million Laniakea’s and still rapidly expanding!!!
i really hope they add VR support!...it will be amazing!
Great videos, thank you.
How are there millions of super clusters if just Laniakea alone is 5 percent of the observable universe?
It's an expression, or most of the superclusters are smaller than laniakea
Virgo Supercluster, not Virgo Cluster. To elaborate: Virgo Cluster is the tight grouping of galaxies nearby us in the constellation of Virgo about 65 million light years away from us. Virgo Supercluster consists of this and its nearby clusters, including the Local Group, which contains the Milky Way.
54 million light years across is nowhere near the size of a supercluster
Great video!
Wow how the hell do you know where the great attractor is when you're rotating through this view lol
My thoughts exactly. I said in my head thats bullshit lol
by counting where galaxies move. thats it. well, simply
@@vitaurea I'm quite sure that's not how he did it.
Suggestion: The hercules corona borealis wall
Sure we can hypothesis all we want....but we will most likely never know.
mike psyche
What’s crazy is for as large as our observable universe is, if you can imagine that it can be contained inside of a normal lightbulb, and placed that lightbulb into the center of Pluto, that’s how big the actual universe itself is. A tiny lightbulb within what we used to consider a planet. And according to theory, it’s only going to continue to grow.
staticmetal2002 xbl Hypothesise all we want, not hypothesis all we want.
Actually to Cosmic Inflation the universe is 6 Sextillion times larger than the observable universe ;)
I think he meant 5% in one dimension, that would mean 1/8000 or approx. 0,0001 % of the Observable Universe in 3D space
You should go to the pillars of creation
It makes sense that like kilonovas are to supernova, hyper black holes seem logical as an explanation for the great attractor. The most advanced places in our universe, where time killing machines collide and multiply in a inverse time relationship to the big bang. At undefined relative states, such as singularities, there may be a wrapping or correlation thru space-time.

The Andromeda galaxy only exceeds the Milky Way by volume because the latter exceeds the former by mass.
Good stuff here..
Even tho I know all this... still so cool to see it
after Virgo Cluster its supposed to be Virgo Supercluster, which is a subpart of the Laniakea Supercluster.
I've heard that the Great Attractor is somewhere near the Norma Cluster.
Thank you Anton
What is the rocket called that was sent to gather this information?
Perhaps the Great Attractor is a supermassive black hole, even larger than Sagittarius A.
God dropped his cotton candy at the angel fair.
This is the remake of Celestia 13 years ago. When do we get the jump ship and travel throught the Virgo system to meet other races in the tight cluster?
and people think Human is alone in this universe, nope
yes. never.
we might be alone really. even if there is life some millions of light years from us, it doesn't matter. its safe to say practically we're alone.
We are not alone, the universe is infinit and our Earth is not unique.
Vitor Leite have you seen aliens?
Vitor Leite We don't know if the Universe is infinite. It's not a fact yet. We don't really know and we are not sure.
Known universe, not actual universe.
Shut
Observable
5% smaller than the observable universe? Are you sure?
about 5% of the diameter, so 1/8000th the volume?
there's freedom of speech on the Internet: no one can tell anyone else to shut up
It was just a fuckin mistake
Eryk Pyts
Not sure if this is sarcasm or not.
Kodek,
no one was being sarcastic; Mr Vulgaris accused Anton Petrov of incompetence
the best video i've seen in the youtube!
NGC 4993 starcluster
No ! Talk about the great attractor !
I would personally contact support on their website
Laniakea should be called Megacluster since it encompass lots of superclusters within it like Supercluster Virgo which then envelopes Clusters such as Virgo, the Local Group which in turn has Milky Way, Andromeda and Triangulum.
Astronomy fans: Whoa the universe is so big!
Mathematics fans: Hold my cardinals.
That is insane how big the universe is and how can anyone work out where our home location is in the universe when it's so impossible to travel through it
why does the laniakea supercluster look like 2 feathers?
I had to unsubscribe so I could subscribe a 2nd time.
Amazing content! 😮 Keep it up 😍
I consider that we now are become "more aware" of these cosmic scales, that "insignificance" becomes obliterated .meaningless, as it should. Gratis. 57 year old farmboy.🍺🤔
talk about the great attractor!
Why isn't NASA buying Space Engine yet.
What about the Great Sloan Wall, or the Huge Large Quasar Group? Would you consider making videos on those?
Hey Anton, amazing video! May I know which SW are you using?
Thanks!
4:20 I see a triangle of galaxies Illuminati confirmed
Maybe we humans are just in a super developed Space Engine too
that awkward moment when the operating system upgrades the speed of light
The real question here is, would you know the matrix has changed, or will you change accordingly, so that there is no telling anything has ever changed
“They might even”.. keyword
You got too love keywords.
🇦🇺🍀😎
I love space
this is awesome:)))
Laniakea makes up ~ more like 1.0E-5% of the Universe (inference), not 5%!
Awesome vid
I like it your videos
if the milky way is moving toward the great attractor at 20m km sec, do we know how fast the solar system is moving through space?
Laneakea. That is the name of a town located in Hawaii.
Yeah, it's a beach anyway, in the town of Hale'iwa. Laniakea Beach is on the North Shore on O'ahu, and is known for its ridiculous winter surf.
Very cool 🙂👍👍👍👍
OH THATS SO COOL!
Could you do a video on Universe Sandbox 2 on what would happen in something was launched at our sun at the speed of light? I think that would be really cool!
RetroXStyles it will be hard to see
Cheese C You can slow down time to really slowly
He already did a video where he launched things at other things at the speed of light
What is it called?
We're not alone.
what are those red and orange dots that go in the opposite direction?
jrfi orn Redshifted objects. (Objects moving away from you faster than you approach them, so you only see the lighter [red and orange] colors.)
*****
Thanks!
jrfi orn Anytime.

And yes this ginormous supercluster of galaxies(acting as an arm) should
be revolving around an exteremely heavy nucleus "maha black hole" as
described in my research paper "Binding theory". Size of this object
should be around 10 light years. If this cluster called laniakea is
stable. Then our universe must be stable and non expanding.
i saw andromeda from the earth in the start of the video :D
@1:03 Doesn't the orbits are more helicoideal than just rounded orbit? In this model it seems the sun is still, but the sun is actually moving outward the galaxy and everything revolves around it, Earth included, as in a spiral shaped way similar to the DNA pathway. Sorry but my native language isn't english, but I still need some clarifying on this!
We kinda live in the Virgo supercluster actually
Laniakea is bigger
What is the great attractor anyway?
I think it might be a hyper massive Black hole or it could be the end of the universe itself
Descobri esse canal hoje e estou gostando muito. Já fez simulações com Laniakea, IC 1101 ou o grande atrator?
Size of the known universe is 90 billion light years across (in diameter in all directions).
The Age is 13.2 billion light years. Due to expansion the size is much bigger then it’s age.
The Actual universe is bigger then the known universe just like the known universe is bigger then an atom.
James Pitt age of the universe is 13.82 billion years.
imagine if we would own ¼ of that
Hi still watching still love your stuff
suggestion
Could you maybe orbit what you want viewers to see because it's hard to distinguish depth in this 2d plain
Waahhhooo I love your Universe Simulation! What is the name of program or app, if you don't mind?
Could you do a video on the Sloan Great Wall, or Hercules Corona Borealis Great Wall? Both are atleast a billion lightyears large.
great video!
XD
He said the laniakea is 5% OF the universe
Liniakea means measurable heaven not immense heaven, at least according to my knowledge.
You mean immeasurable right
Hey i think corona borealis great wall is the biggest supercluster
Entire galaxies are just snowflakes compared on the scale of a supercluster. Space is mindblowing.
