I use an F30 mask and my AHI was hovering around 5-6 with 95% leak rate staying in the 20-30 range. Last night, my AHI was 1.24 (still mostly CA's) with a 95% leak rate of 4.8! I'll take it!! I want to see some oxygen oximetry testing with and without the v-com, I have been using it and it helps with aerophagia and mouth leak. But I actually feel a little more sluggish. I wonder if the inspiratory pressure being lower than the expratory pressure causes some CO2 retention.
@CPAP Reviews I think it will work great for people on lower pressures, but I'm at a pressure of 15 and I think I'm definitely getting some CO2 related sickness. Look up CO2 narcosis. I think the v-com is veering into dangerous territory when it comes to CO2 retention on higher pressures.
@@discontinuity7526 Hey mate, the phycis don't really add up as the V-Com is positioned past the CPAP mask exhalation port so it shouldn't really make a difference. I'll have a large data set to look at shortly and can provide some more info. Cheers
How about the other end of the system - does the V-Com constriction create more stress on the cpap blower motor? Why not simply back off on the pressure to begin with?
Hello, i believe it's designed to be placed at the mask end mate. You can't back off inhalation pressure without also reducing exhalation pressure but with V-Com you can and exhalation pressure is very important for airway stability
thanks for this. I was just talking with my roommate why i couldn't tolerate cpap and why I felt at my wit's end with the thing. I can't stand the sensation of air blowing on my face, and the noise of the machine is loud enough that I can't use it at night because it'll activate the part of my brain that does manual breathing, so I need to watch something louder than the machine to get to sleep. And then there's the headaches, the fact that nobody seems to understand that i can't talk while i still have my mask on or the air is actively scouring my nose like a brillo pad so no, they can't just wake me up out of a dead sleep and ask me something, how the whole thing takes ages to put on and adjust even semi-comfortably... oh right, and that I still have a phillips machine, well, one of their "repaired" dreamstation 1's because medi-cal won't pay for a damn resmed. MAN, WHY HAVE I ALL BUT GIVEN UP ON THIS THING. it's a mystery~ But... I have had a heart attack, and with summer my roomate will absolutely close my ass up in my un-airconditoned room of up to 100 degrees when i sleep, should I sleep without a mask. Because my apnea triggers their ptsd. It's led to me trying to find means to make my cpap attempts less hellish. hopefully this will help, even i'm stuck playing the cancer roulette wheel with the phillips machine.
If this product is so great then why isn't is standard with CPAP machines or headgear? I'll be interested in your tests on it because it's hard to believe that it doesn't effect the pressure and lessen the CPAP therapy.
Hi Dan, i guess because V-Com doesn't make the machines? It is worth noting that they just signed a big deal with React health who distribute the BMC Luna CPAP and now every Luna comes with a V-Com included. Cheers
I'm excited for the results. Do you have a source of these in Australia? I don't want to pay the exorbitant delivery fees from America it would end up costing $75+
Hi nick I contacted my sleep provider, and they don't sell them. They also told me the v com is for bipap machine? If it does still help with normal cpap machine, where can I buy one of them? Also, your videos have helped me greatly over the years, thanks mate!
I tried it for 3 nights. I didn't notice any noise abatement, and the increased expiratory made me feel like I was being smothered. It also made my AHI go up a bit.
Hey Nick, thank you for the video. I purchased the Vcom, but I have a question. I placed this device between the back of my machine the Resmed Airsense 11 and the tube to my mask the ResMed AirFit P30i Nasal Pillow. My question is, does the Vcom work well with this mounting method? Greetings from The Netherlands.
@@CPAPReviews Why not the AirMini? If a person has the adapter that allows use of different masks and an auxiliary humidifier with the Mini, I don't understand why this V-Com couldn't be used too.
@@CPAPReviews Also, what do you mean travel cpaps use smaller motors? I thought you found that the AirMini used exactly the same motor as the 10 and the 11 when you did the teardown on it.
@@snospmoht3252 NO he said that the Air Mini and the ResMed 11 have a smaller motor than the ResMed 10 NOT that it has the same motor as the ResMed 10 look at the video again you will see for yourself that's what he says and shows you the size difference.
@@snospmoht3252 The Air Mini does not come with the adapter that you are mentioning and the Air Mini has a different connector than all the rest of of the cpap machines on the market so the V-Com does not fit it unless you buy the universal hose adapter for the Air Mini separately. Hope this clears things up.
I'm not a beginner but decided to give the V-Com a try. I found I had less leakage and 0.0 apneas! Is there any reason not to use it continuously? And the directions say to replace it at 3 months - it's hard plastic so why replace it? (I don't like a money grab)
Tried the $30 V-Com last night for the first time. Felt like I was suffocating! I couldn't get enough air! Increased pressure up to 16 and still not enough. Exhaling was no issue. After 40 minutes I took it off and felt so much better. I've been using either APAP or CPAP for 9 years and this was the worst experience yet. Only reason I tried it was because of positive feedback and I noticed my events have been creeping up last few months. I read a review somewhere that said it felt like they were breathing through a milkshake. I agree. Haven't felt breathing that hard at rest since my first round of COVID. I may try again but am very reluctant.
Is it possible that the device’s flow limiting causes the apnea event detection to be less sensitive and thereby causing a false measure of improvement? FWIW I tried the VCom with my Airfit P30 mask and it significantly increased the mask noise. There was an improvement in AHI however. I tried to remedy the noise by moving the VCom to the machine end of the hose. The noise went away and improved over normal. To my surprise, my AHI is now zero! (Resmed AirSense 10 Auto). VCom seems too good to be true and interfering with apnea detection is my guess as to why.
Hi I recently got the V-com ( Resmed Airsense 10 use here) hoping Nicko and any others might be able to clarity some things for me please and thanks 1) Does the EPR need to be disabled for this to work ? 2) The pressure has to set a minim of 10 for it work ? a big thanks for a fantastic you tube channel
I'm not sure if this defeats the purpose, but I actually need the air to breathe when I start to sleep. What is the difference in just setting the CPAP to a lower setting?
Hi Nicko. I would love to buy the V Com through you but the link in the show notes goes nowhere (community is misspelt in the link?). Could you please help. Thanks, Henry (Melbourne).
Got my V-Com yesterday and tried it out last night. For some reason with the V-Com in place my Resmed AirFit F30 QuietAir elbow is making very loud air noises on inhaling and when I remove the V-Com the air noises go away and back to normal. I'm using the Resmed AirSense 10 AutoSet, CPAP mode, 12.2 pressure, EPR 2, AirFit F30 mask (I'm a mouth breather). I tried a different new QuietAir elbow with same results of loud air noises on the inhale with V-Com installed. Very quiet without the V-Com installed. I tried turning EPR off and still same loud air noises. I thought this V-Com made the system more quiet? Is there anyone having the same issue with making more noises?
I have the AirMini from ResMed. I use the AirFit N20. When I breathe in and out through the nose there is a noise during the duration of my inhalation or exhalation. Do you think, the V-Com will help me and reduce the noise ? Thanks in advance.
as a newish user a am having real trouble with the cpap in general using for maybe 3 hours in total a night then trying to sleep without it or using it (rarely ) for the whole night but wide awake until morninng and sleep most of the day to catchup and this is month 2 or trials (mask is cluastraphobic for me)
Evora full face mask does not work with the VCom with heated tube? Works well with the vitera full face mask. I'm using a couple of nights on that mask oh, I've tried last night in didn't work the other mask.
Does not work for me. I felt like I was being constricted. Breathing in and out were very difficult. My max pressure is around 9. May be better for people with higher pressures.
Hi Gary, thanks for your feedback. I also felt constricted during lower pressures (especially around 4-5cmH20 with a nasal pillow) . Cheers mate. Nicko
The V-COM itself disappoints me. When I used it last night for the first time, I didn't notice any difference. It seemed as if it wasn't there at all. It is unlikely that I will purchase a replacement. Although I had hoped for a better experience, there wasn't much difference.
Hi Nico does the Vcom fit either way round or should the bigger diameter fit towards to machine. Or does it not matter as the smaller diameter spend does not fit my air fit p10
I tried this with a Resmed AirSense 10 and it severly restricted the air flow to the point very little was coming through the hose. I discontinued it within minutes and regretted buying it.
New c-papper here. Does the epr need altering? Using Resmed 11 with both nasal and face masks, sometimes my mouth opens, so I'm trying to figure out what works best, nasal, nasal with strap or F30i (which leaks on my beard/mustache.
Sorry just a touch confused as to what link I click on to purchase the V-Com. I reside in Australia? I tried to purchase it on Sure Sleep, however it would only accept US Addresses.
I'm in Canada so health care is wildly slow in coming, my sleep study only said AHI 11 ( in February ) I'm so tired, I wake up constantly, my watch is saying my pulse is jumping from low 40s to mid 80s a few times an hour, I don't have another appointment until mid June, is there anything wrong with me just buying a CPAP and trying to make this stop myself ? I'm concerned about not knowing pressure settings is all but I've had it, I need to get this figured out and it looks like I'm on my own.
Guess I have to give it more time but just tried the vcom and so far I hate it. It feels nearly impossible to exhale and doesn't seem to help in any way. To each his own I guess

New to bipap therapy. Pressures at 22/18 after a major health issue and 4 days in ICU. Originally started on a f&p Eson 2.. moved from that to a Resmed airfit f20 bc of seal issues around the nose and motor boating despite tape. Have found that (I suspect due to high pressures) even the f20 can have pressure blow-outs. Recently received a f30 and same stupid issue w the nose part. Again, suspect this to be due to high pressures. Only way I seem to be able to make them stop is to tighten down my headgear to the point where the headgear makes the back of my head hurt. Would the v-com help w the blowout stupidity?
I call for a recall of our tubes given the V-com seems to make our sleep all so easier. Come on Resmed, you've had our money for a few decades and by design made them useless after x hours.
Why in the world would you show the noise of the travel machine with V-Com, and not then demonstrate it without? (Instead of saying "I know this machine, and this is way quieter"?)

MAN, WHY HAVE I ALL BUT GIVEN UP ON THIS THING. it's a mystery~
But...
Hi Folks, I'm trying to get a v-com in the UK but can't seem to get one, any advice will be appreciated 👍
Cheers
@@CPAPReviews Nice! I'm going to hold off buying it until after your review, to see if it's actually worth the expense.
Do you know where these can be purchased in Australia?
I'm excited for the results. Do you have a source of these in Australia? I don't want to pay the exorbitant delivery fees from America it would end up costing $75+
They Trav, yeah i've organised them for the Aussie Pro members. They'll be here soon. Cheers
@@CPAPReviews If I got a pro membership what would the price be including shipping?
Yeah I want to know where I can purchase it in Australia, I first saw it shown by Lefty and I don’t want to have to buy i from the USA
Nice! Thanks for the product review. I need to try one! 😁
Welcome legend. Cheers
VCOM in Canada? Thank you!
Considering 3d printing one
Hi nick
I contacted my sleep provider, and they don't sell them.
It also made my AHI go up a bit.
same
Hey Nick, thank you for the video.
Uncle Nicko, love the videos and the information you put out.
I’m using the AirSense 11, can you use the V-Com with a heated tube?
It can attache to any mask or tube except AirMini
Hi Nick, I have the Resmed p30i, where do I get the short tube that you demonstrated?
I am another one who would purchase a V-Com if I could get it in Australia. So Uncle Nicko any ideas?
Will this work with resmed machines
Hey mate, if you jump on www.sleephq.com you look at every breathe you take and see for yourself. Cheers

Where can I purchase in Australia?
I've checked my usual suppliers but I can't find any v-com for sale... I'm in Brisbane 4500. Any help appreciated
Where can I buy V-Com in Australia? I live in the Sydney area.
Hi i'm interested in the V-COM but cannot purchase it in uk and they wont ship to UK, can you help ?
If you use an auto-set cpap machine will it confuse or throw out of wack your machine's pressure setting?
Hello, as long as you install the V-Com prior to airflow apparently not. I will let you know the results of my tests shortly though. Cheers
Hi Nicko. I would love to buy the V Com through you but the link in the show notes goes nowhere (community is misspelt in the link?). Could you please help. Thanks, Henry (Melbourne).
Hi Henry, i've updated the link for you
Does anybody knows any side effect or any cons of v- com device ??
Any idea where I can buy this in the UK ? Thanks !
Uncle Nicko my pressure is set to 8 is this a product that will work for me?
I guess it depends on what your problems but for $35 the feedback i've received from users has been very positive
@@CPAPReviews Great thanks!
When using Vcom do any of the machine settings need to be changed?
How to use it with thep30i
Got my V-Com yesterday and tried it out last night.
Would the V com put a bit of strain on the smaller.motor?
Is this useful with APAP therapy? What are the hole sizes in this restrictor plate?
I have the AirMini from ResMed. I use the AirFit N20. When I breathe in and out through the nose there is a noise during the duration of my inhalation or exhalation. Do you think, the V-Com will help me and reduce the noise ? Thanks in advance.
What is the cpap machine brand you use, I would like to have one for traveling, thank you !!!!
as a newish user a am having real trouble with the cpap in general using for maybe 3 hours in total a night then trying to sleep without it or using it (rarely ) for the whole night but wide awake until morninng and sleep most of the day to catchup and this is month 2 or trials (mask is cluastraphobic for me)
Evora full face mask does not work with the VCom with heated tube? Works well with the vitera full face mask. I'm using a couple of nights on that mask oh, I've tried last night in didn't work the other mask.
I don't understand how the vcom preforms differently than setting a lower pressure would? Because it's only on ipap?
correct, it's impossible to flip ipap and epap without a V-Com
/me fires up onshape and my 3d printer :)
So you suppose to cut off the EPR setting on your cpap if you use this device?
I don't need it, but another great review.
I tried this with a Resmed AirSense 10 and it severly restricted the air flow to the point very little was coming through the hose. I discontinued it within minutes and regretted buying it.
Did you ever add a way for Oura Ring to Upload to SleepHQ?
No but we just connected to Apple Health which is pretty cool!
I tried this and because I have a heated tube I have to attach it off the mask and it makes it really loud. Any work arounds?
New c-papper here. Does the epr need altering? Using Resmed 11 with both nasal and face masks, sometimes my mouth opens, so I'm trying to figure out what works best, nasal, nasal with strap or F30i (which leaks on my beard/mustache.
Reduces central apnea hey that is good if it is true
Would this help UARS patient confort? I'm using 7 min pressure - 11 Max pressure.
Would this work for BIPAP?
Does it work with Resmen S9 ASV?
Can you use this on a resmed 10 ?
Hello, can this be used with A-Pap or is it for C-pap only?
Hello, yes it can according to the company and studies. I'm doing my own research though and will let you know the results shortly
is there a way to install it the wrong way around or is it symmetrical (and idiot proof)
Can this be used with a climate controlled tube and the Phillips dreamwear full face mask?
Will the V-com work with MEOLOCK? On the heated tube.
I don’t think it will fit buddy
Guess I have to give it more time but just tried the vcom and so far I hate it. It feels nearly impossible to exhale and doesn't seem to help in any way. To each his own I guess
how do I use the vcom on my dreamstation with the heated hose?
This video shows you how.
@@kenbad8271 I don’t understand the heated tube on the Dreamstation has a special powered plugin
It goes at the mask end
@@CPAPReviews I tried this with my Respironics Dreamstation HT15 Heated Tubingmy and Frame for Dreamwear Nasal/Gel/Full Face: Medium Size, and it doesnt fit my mask or hose becouse of the plug in for heat, I also ordered the 22' universal tube to use without my humidifier and the vcom fits the hose but the hose doesnt fit the mask either. Is there an adapter or something I need?
Can this be used with the Bleep Eclipse?
yes

I heard another reviewer state that Vom does not work on bi level.
Wish it worked with a full face mask
I call for a recall of our tubes given the V-com seems to make our sleep all so easier. Come on Resmed, you've had our money for a few decades and by design made them useless after x hours.
It is not the size that matters lol 😂😂
Why in the world would you show the noise of the travel machine with V-Com, and not then demonstrate it without? (Instead of saying "I know this machine, and this is way quieter"?)
Because those who own a travel machine already know how noisy they are without it. Now they can hear the noise of mine with it
Got mine and I’m not waking up for no reason

I softens flow during inhalation but maintains it during exhalation. I'm possible to do without it. Cheers
The V-COM is such a waste of money. I got one and literally had to ramp up my number because it felt like I was suffocating. What’s the point then? I really don’t understand the hype and now I’m out of $35. Between you and the guy from US who has his YT channel, I feel like this is literally paid advertisement that was requested by the makers of V-Com and you guys are just pushing it out. From now on I’ll be more cautious to believe in anything I watch here.
