      Hi Nick
I was just recommended your channel today after asking a question on flow limitations.
Never heard of it before but I’ve just used Oscar to read my data on my F&P machine and I’m having FL of over 200 closer to 250 or more every night.
Is this something I need to be concerned about?
I’m waking up exhausted and my recent sleep study said that my AHI has increased to 23 more during REM and oxygen levels go down to 70s.
But looking at the Oscar data other then the FL everything else looks good.
      Hope you answer 🙏🏼
Glad I was able to find your channel. So much useful info and I’m definitely following 😊

I've just hit my five year mark for my AirSense 10 and found your channel while researching the AirSense 11. I spoke with my sleep doctor today and mentioned that I'm not feeling that great and I couldn't understand why because the MyAir app shows that I'm consistently hitting 100. I started monitoring my blood 02 prior to using the cpap. The 0x ring was how I figured out I had sleep apnea. So I have been confused about the AHI and why it would be important to monitor if my 02 sats are dramatically improved. I went from continuously dropping into the 80'-70's to maintaining even between 95-97 all night. HR dropped as well. It is a great tool. My AHI is always between 2-4. I put the ring on my cousin the other night. She has been on cpap for 5 years. Her 02 sats were horrible! So now she has that info and can go back to the doctor for a increasing her pressure. Thanks for bringing this to light for clarification! I also find the need to monitor times I took the mask off very irritating...of course need to go to the bathroom and/or let a cat out or whatever...geez....

CPAP therapy can be summarized in a nut shell for optimal results: 1.) Get a nasal mask. Might have to try several before finding your personal favorite. Everyone's face shape is different. 2.) Get some mouth tape from Hostage Tape and tape your mouth while you sleep. Don't ask questions, just do it. 3.) Climateline. My sweet spot is level 4 @ 27 deg C. and finally 4) Start low and keep increasing every night until you finally feel good. AHI, flow rate, O2 levels....at the end of the day the only solution to your problems is to increase the pressure. If you don't have the time to track or dig deep into your data, increase by 0.2 every night. You'll just know you found your sweet spot, trust me. Forgot 5.) Less is more. When you found your sweet spot, stay there. Don't increase the pressure more. Forgot 6.) DONT USE EPR. The pressure fluctuations mess things up regardless which machine you have

I bought that O2 ring to find out if I should schedule an appointment with a sleep specialist. I spend hours sub 90% every night. I compared the results with my at home sleep study and they were basically the same. The differences in the data were so small that I am loving this ring. I am getting my CPAP on Wednesday. I can't wait to see what happens. I've had no energy my entire life and I have been successful in anything I set my mind to in spite of that, until I reach something I call "Burnout". If this can cure my chronic fatigue, depression, and anxiety I will be an unstoppable force on this world. I pray to Jesus this works. I will do everything I can to make this work. This is the first time I have felt real excitement about anything since I was a small boy. The possibility I might be able to live life like a normal person without medication actually has me feeling something. I have been emotionally dead since I was a child. Probably puberty. I don't remember most of my life. That could be as a result of this sleep issue too.

Greetings from the US of A....I really like these videos. I have had to become my own Dr. when it comes to a lot of these things. So...started using mouth tape with the help of nasal tape to open the sinuses. currently using a face mask with the nasal pillows (the kind with a slit and not the nubby things that go into the nose). this seems to have helped dramatically. AHI numbers dropped to below 2 and I am sleeping through the night...despite some bizarre dreams. Never considered blood oxygen levels. I still feel sleepy when i wake up...naturally and no alarm. I am considering one of these O2 rings and see what's really gong on. I have not uploaded my data to your site yet but will do. Thanks gain. Cheers!

I hope in the future that insurance will either cover such a device or that the cost of the device becomes cheaper. I might have to try and make my own from one of the cheap chinese bluetooth pulse oximeters and a bluetooth arduino module. I've seen a couple such projects. I'd just be interested in using the device for a couple nights. You would think that CPAP therapy would include a trial period where they let you use a pulse oximeter to verify that your therapy settings are correct.

G'day Nicko and greetings from Brisbane I'm now also a member of the (I guess mostly) older men & CPAP club, have been following your channel and have to say you're really doing a great job, very helpful. I'm still struggling with getting everything right in regards to my APAP stuff. My chin strap (which I need as I'm a mouth breather) keeps falling off during the night, my nasal pillow type mask does the same and so I wake up many times every night, afraid of a very uncomfy looking full face mask :-( Do you have any tip for good chin straps? Also tried a neopren type --> was itching like hell when the beard was growing and also stretched - so was quite useless...

    • @richardclary2903
      @richardclary2903 2 года назад +2

I went through similar trials when I was on CPAP. I was a side sleeper and started with a nasal pillow. I had to learn to sleep on my back to use the therapy. I tried specially shaped and all kinds of other stuff, but each time I tried, either the pillow would move and leak badly, or the mask would get very noisy because one of the side tubes would have to pass the entire volume of air needed.
Then I started opening my mouth when sleeping. I tried using several chin straps and dental guards. Even if they kept my moutn closed. I never got satisfactory results.
I decided to try a full face mask and I wish I had done that sooner. I now eleep exclusively on my side. A full face mask works much better for this. I can no longer sleep on my back, as I would have to use a chin strap and dental guard. That is just too much effort when I can simply sleep on my side.
In my opinion, chin straps work only for some people and are too much extra work. The full face mask is just as comfortable for me as the nasal pillow was and made getting to bed a simpler process. Best of luck.

It's nice to have my suspicions confirmed, and even better to know if can improve me sleep therapy as well. Thanks!

Vacuum floors, wash curtains, bedding, pillows etc. We always assume we've done these things. Yet just as often we think we have but haven't! Are your pets hanging out in your bedroom? Shut them out day and night! Are you eating things you're only mildly allergic too? How's your diet? If your not eating enough fruits and veg your not going to eat getting enough vitamins c a natural antihistamine and anti inflamatory. Hey brother, when you put the SD card into the machine it will automatically copy some summary data across but it will only record DETAILED data (like the flow rate etc) if the SD card is in the cpap whilst you are using it. The Magic Uploader is a device we created that automatically sends the SD card data to SleepHQ via home wifi (so you don't need to take the SD card out of your device and do uploads manually). It should be available soon for purchase. Cheers mate. Nicko

I'm new to the channel and truly appreciate the information you provide! My question has to do with HR. Last night I had 0 drops, 96% avg. O2, lowest O2 level 92%. All great! But my HR always averages 50bpm, good or bad sleep. I set my alarm to go off if it drops below 45bpm. Last night it went off 14 times because of low HR. I'm curious if this considered normal? Do others have similar results without issues? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Also not sure if Sleep HQ supports Resvent iBreeze 20A.

I have had to try to adjust the Res med 11 nearly every night to figure this out on my own as my Nurse Practitioner had it set on 6 and it is hard to get ahold of her. Tried that one night and felt horrible. I watched your video on 5 of you reviewing someone's data and used your suggestions for them to put mine on auto, limit the variations and raise the pressure. I used 10-13. I also had to change mask back to my regular nasal mask as the nasal pillow was oddly causing slight nose bleeds. Changed the setting on machine to nasal mask as well. I am still a bit tired so I'm concerned about my blood oxygen levels and can't afford the magic ring and not sure my California state insurance will pay for that. All in all I just wanted to say thank you for putting out this so important information. Hi Nicko, thanks for the video. Good and informative as always. I just get a look to my data at SleepHQ and mentioned that I don't have Flow Limit data on the timeline. 'Sorry, there's no flow limit data for today' but maybe this is because I use Dreamstation1 I suppose. Maybe DS1 doesn't provide information about flow limit. Maybe it doesn't have such sensor or the software does not provide data for this important thing. Also about all these O2 rings. I am confused which one is good, which one gives enough precise and consistent data. All of them hust don't provide with information about accuracy. Maybe this will help me to make a decision which brand CPAP machine to buy. I almost decided to get Lowenstein, but not sure about Flow Limit and also not sure if SleepHQ supports Lowenstein's Prisma. While a Resmed AS11 is too expensive yet or not available to all providers, and AS 10 is at the end of it's life as you say. And I am wondering why the manufacturers of CPAP machines don't integrate SpO2 monitoring in their machines as a standard or maybe optional feature. Maybe too much pain in the ass with registering as medical device etc.

May I ask are those CAs real? It seems this guy got more CAs at a higher level.

Thanks for all of your great information. I bought the ring device back in February. I've since had a sleep study and was told I have mild sleep apnea. I've been debating a dental device vs cpap. So I've really appreciated all your videos.
I asked my doctor...if I'm able to maintain my oxygen above 90% without any intervention (side sleeping)...is medical intervention with cpap or dental device necessary? They said yes but didn't really provide me with an explanation.
Any thoughts or explanation you might be able to share with all of your knowledge and experience?
    Thanks!

I might also add that I got the ring when I had covid because I noticed I wasn't breathing as I was falling asleep and it scared me. My data from the first 2-3 months healing from covid (I have long covid) was much worse and I had many drops per night in oxygen. As I'm healing more and more...I seem to have far less drops and when I have one...it rarely drops below 90 (maybe 1-4x a week) before self correcting. All very interesting. I track my O2 nightly with the ring.

Hi Amanda, my advice would depend on how lethargic you are. If you're feeling okay and your 02 sats are above 90% then i'd advise you to just stick to side sleeping and perhaps elevate a little. If you are always tired then it might be worth checking out a MAS (Dental device) especially if you are young and dating etc. All the best my friend

@@CPAPReviews why the suggestion to elevate? How would that help with apnea?

question is how accurate is the o2 ring ? if you say its accurate what did you use as a standard to test it against $229 for a o2 sensor is steep

G'day mate, as far as consumer health wearables go it's pretty damn good. From memory it's got a 4% potential variance. I've tried lots of them and this is by far the best. Cheers

thank you. Exactly what my flow rate looks like. (all flat on top) Makes much more sense now. I have just been playing around with pressure and changed to cpap mode because AHI are great but still so tired. Might turn pressure up another notch.

Hi Lesley, i had a quick look at your SleepHQ profile. You could certainly benefit from a little bump in pressure but overall i think you're doing very well. Congrats

oh wow. Thank you Uncle Nicko . Fantastic to get some feedback and know how I am heading. I bumped up to 14 last night, so will give it a couple of days then download data.

Hi Lesley, I know you commented this quite a while ago but it sounds like I'm in a very similar situation. May I ask, how were your results after increasing the pressure a bit? I'm at APAP mode currently, (range 6-15) but still pretty tired most days. My AHI is super low (1.9) so I'm curious how your O2 levels were after this pressure increase. Thanks in advance!

@@phildimopoulos6010 Hi. Unfortunately I havent purchased an o2 ring or apple watch yet so no way of telling what o2 levels are.It is on the list of things to get. I think that info would be really helpful. Still tired but nowhere near as bad as i was without therapy.

@@lesleyschultz9247thanks for replying Lesley, really appreciate it. I feel the same basically.. although I’m still tired, it’s definitely not even close to how bad it was prior to CPAP. I think I’m going to invest in an o2 ring in the next month or so just to see if I can dial this in further.

Hi , i was consistently on 99-100 , and all of a sudden i’ve been having a few weeks on 92-94-96 at most. I don’t understand what’s going on. I’ve been doing everything to raise my oxigen but levels haven’t gone up
