Appreciate the time & effort you put into providing all the info in one place and as well explaining for those not as tech savvey as yourself. You always mention the people responsible, so don't understand how anyone would accuse you otherwise. Still on the fence about trying, as my iMac is my main comp & don't want to screw it up. So damn tempting.
Thanks, that was exactly my goal. Give it a shot, upgrade yours. Maybe start with SSD and GPU, there you don’t have to remove the motherboard if you have a pre 2011 iMac
Im having great difficulty to make my mid2010 27" iMac work again. Its GPU has failed and i don't know where to begin since im not able to flash it cause theres no SSD on the iMac. I dont know how to begin, plz give me your lights.
Hi, I’m asking experts on this, this is what happened. I’m bought the Nvidia K2100M video card in place of AMD 6770M for my iMac 27 in 2011, after installation of screen remains black, I tried to reset it, nothing! Then being Nvidia K2100M is not compatible with my iMac? I read here and it’s a match!
Not going to lie I keep watching videos and I’m still skeptical about the whole flashing process! From what I’ve been reading on macrumors you don’t even need Linux or windows to flash the k3100m. But then I see other post saying you do need it. I’m about to just call my local computer repair shop and see if they can do it but I’d hate to pay them for it because I’m a cheap bastard lol
Yea I’m going to attempt it tonight, we’ll at least getting all the files I need onto a windows 8 bootable usb. I guess I need the rom, nvflash, and that’s pretty much it right? What other software am I forgetting
@macintoshmen man I plugged up the k3100m and all I got was a black screen, should 2 led lights on the bottom so I know the gpu couldn’t communicate. Would it be easier to just flash the new gpu with ch341a clip? Can I do that with my Mac before I install again?
i have a Nvidia quadro K610M could you speak to how to installing open core . do you just load up a usb for all files and install? really appreciate your videos you make it understandable for the no so tech guy.. mr.g
MacintoshMen I just told you about the Access IBM trick because I have a T40 with its OEM install and that’s how you do it from there since it’s around the same era. I am actually kind of interested in seeing a process like that in German. Maybe once you feel like it you can do it.
Can you connect two external monitor to the 2011 21.5inch imac running Catalina after cpu upgrade (i7 2600s) and GPU upgrade (k1100m)? I was wondering if I connecting one external monitor via minidisplay port and one using usb to hdmi video adapter would work?
I would like to see a video on the pre 2010 models - like me who is a late 2009 guy. now he told me I could put a 765m in my machine but from this video he is now saying that if you do not do the vbios then u just get a black screen?? as the Vbios does not work with 2009?? so he is still confusing people
You can put in 765M in 2009 iMac, you just can’t flash the VBIOS on Core 2 Duo models, it requires i3 at least. It’s a bit confusing since there are Core2Duo and i5/i7 variants of the 2009 iMac
Hi. Thanks to your video, I successfully upgraded the imac mid2011 21' to gtx765m. Thank you. But the problem is that I can't see the bright controll and boot screen, but there's no problem with using it. But I'm using the sierra now and I want to upgrade to mojave, but I can't upgrade it with my knowledge because I can't see the bootscreen. Is there a way to upgrade to mojave without bootscreen? Or can I show bootscreen?

The 780M is the faster one and I also recommend getting it because the VBIOS for it also includes a native Brightness Control.
