Newcomen's pump wasn't a steam engine, it was an atmospheric pump, it provided atmospheric power, a max. of 10psi. and no rotary motion. Watt's steam engine provided steam power and rotary motion. The problem of Newcomen's pump wasn't inefficiency, it was the use of atmospheric power. Watt dumped Newcomen's atmospheric power for steam power, but, surprise, surprise, as usual, no mention of this, the crucial idea. He had to invent a new engine to do this. This was his ' great ' idea, and it worked! He invented the world's first practical steam engine. His optional separate condenser didn't apply to a Newcomen atmospheric pump, it applied to his own steam engine. It recirculated hot water and eliminated atmospheric pressure. Atmospheric pressure works against a steam engine. Newcomen's pump worked on the principle of atmospheric pressure. ( principal of the vacuum ? ) They even carefully avoided mentioning steam pressure when talking about Watt's kettle, when young. The vacuum does not pull the piston down, steam pushes it down.
@@robertsmith8629 No offence but i am talking about my experience in my country I belonge to the india and i've travelled to many asian countries. So that's why I said that
no Newcomen started it and Watt worked in collaboration with Black the heat scientist to improve it and Boulton manufactured it and the Cornish bought it but didn't pay for it!!!
England excelled in prducing several inventions and machineries after 1757 because of wealth looted from India courtesy East India company. Fardays inventions also owe to loored money from India.
An excellent documentary. Thank you

Excellent, thank you. It seems disproportionate number of Britain’s greats, Watts, Hume, Smith et cetera, were developed from Scotland.
That was before the SNP became the
Government of Scotland.
