@@chadhaire1711 this particular day was extremely hot during this event and most of the 340 cars were running low 14s. I wouldn’t be surprised that a cool day, low tire pressure, a little timing and a capable driver could squeeze out a 13.7 in a 340 Demon. They had fantastic weight distribution.

i built a 1971 Plymouth Valiant 360 edelbrock RPM intake, LT headers, .480 cam 727 8 3/4 with 4:30 gears and posi. ran 13.00 101mph on stock pistons and compression ratio. 2800 stall converter shift kit
@@gq-cw6xiSad but true. Many cars in this video likely had original style skinny hard rear tires giving little traction, plus drivers not willing to push their valuable classics that hard. Also technology has really moved on. Even a stock 2011 V6 Mustang with a good driver can get in the 13's.
@@MarcusSandoval-kx2th The 1988-91 Tuned Port models especially would run low 14s and wasn’t hard to get them running 13s with just tuning. That goes for the late ‘80s and early’90s L98 Tuned Port F-bodies. I had an ‘87 IROC-Z with factory heads, factory cam, factory intake and factory 3.23 gears managed to get it to put down 274hp 306tq at the rear wheels on the dyno and ran 13.6 (it was either 104 or 106 mph, I can’t remember lol) and that was just full exhaust with shortie Hedman headers, Marches underdrive pulleys, Hypertech Thermomaster chip with 160* thermostat and cool fan switch, Accel coil, 15 degrees advanced timing, pair of K&N filters with the bottom of the intake box opened up and the MAF sensor descreened and the cooling fins machined out, which added over 100 CFMs of airflow. They were absolute torque monsters down low! Sadly they ran out of breath over 4500 RPMs, but the torque surely made up for the horsepower.
