Something in the way you play this feels like you're holding yourself from giving it the full power. Shorter endings and restrained crescendos are leavning the taste of understatement hanging in the air, and unexpectedly it sounds more intersesting than the familiar dramatic performance would. Truly enjoyed listening to it!
This is one of the most refined, nuanced, and grounded renditions of this piece I've heard to date, and the video presentation is superb too: it wasn't obvious to me that his music required such contortions on the keyboard, making the performance all the more impressive. I hope you find your way to more of his music, WFB is criminally underrated.
Please be more careful with the audio quality of your recordings like this, it's not bad, but it could be better, with more "prescense" I am not talking about your performing, I like it a lot and that's what for me, and other people follow you. Cheers!
Je ne suis ni pianiste ni musicien, seulement fan (je déteste ce mot) de piano et donc je trouve ici une très belle prestation, tres belle, mais la qualite du piano est médiocre.
The question is maybe, about baroque music. If you listen to J.S. Bach, in my opinion, only the Brandenburg Concertos are truly baroque, even the last one is already beyond (the 6th), because of the solo violin, which emphases lyricism. Now Purcell is baroque in a more minor way than Bach, i will skip the others, i mean it's not easy to capture the spirit of baroque music. It should remain simple, the melody should not be too underlined, as in later music; Contrapuntal composition is only a more sophisticated way as canon composition, but not fundamental different, as elements should repeat and intervals respected... It's funny, here, there is almost some recitative, at 1mn.
Wonderful performance. It's nice to see you again
Wonderful performance.
she's so pretty. also i haven't listened to much of bach's children so these are very cool. love the new camera angles too
Great to hear you play this repertoire, Karmen. Feels like this music is exploring new ground and so are you. Well played (and recorded)!
It's nice to see you again
Hearing this music played so beautifully is beyond words. So wonderful. Thank you.

Thank you for your kind words!
@@bwv232 Well deserved. I wish I could play like that, or at least know what it feels like, compared to just listening.
Don't worry. When Trump is President, it will be law to pay respects to WF. 😆
Beautiful
wunderbar gespielt und hochinteressant to listen to the change in style from big dady to his son paving the way for little beethoven.
always enjoy watching you play
Absolutely beautiful.

Bravo! Divine.

Really enjoyed all the open-body string/hammer shots in this one, it adds something ineffable. Welcome bach to the youtubes!

his sons were composing in the classical era, not baroque. This guy is a contemporary of Mozart.
