the ideal skin doesn’t exist to me anymore. i used to care about my skin too much by trying so hard to achieve the skin others have. but after i encountered youtubers like you and others who touch on the realities, i managed to love my skin as it is and just listen to what it really needs and not force it go through what i want it to need.

Ugh, literally I felt the same way about skin! I was ALWAYS sooooo unhappy with my skin...I think I idolized celebrity's skin waaaaaaaay too much. Like, if I don't have skin like them, I'm UGLY, is how I always thought. However recently, I've had the worse flare ups and fragile skin barrier that got me to limit my skincare. With time, the flare ups got calm and I still have redness and uneven tone, BUT I'm happy with how it is. Of course I want it to look better, but I'm just not mad at how it is.
I'm slowly beginning to love my skin for how it is and gaining confidence. I really LOVE this video SOO UNNI! Made me realize even more that I shouldn't be too hard on myself and self love SHOULDN'T BE OVERLOOKED.
As Rupaul said, "If you can't love yourself how in the hell are you gonna love somebody else?" AMEN!

on this beauty community, we look up to the beauty vlogger/influencer as our role model so it's not easy not to compare our skin to them. because in front of camera we see a very good skin and thinking that "oh i wish i have that much products to try and money so i can go to dermatologist" so if there's ones that show us a real skin i highly appreciated since it gives me relieves that they're human after all and encourage me to continue using skincare no matter how slow the progress is

The first time i got to know that the illusion of 'perfect skin' was created by lights and filters, was when i watched an 'expose' video by wayne goss. So i always knew 'perfect skin' wasnt real. But still, after watching so many skincare and makeup videos, i tend to imagine that 'some' people have perfect skin...and then i end up feeling unreasonably dissapointed with the condition of my own skin. Thank you for showing us an unfiltered video. It reminded me to have a realistic and reasonable expection for my skin

Dear Soo, my ideal skin is my own. I came to an age( 53) that I really love my skin. I've been in so bad situations in my life, countless, but I never stopped caring for my skin. For me works like therapy, really. I think to care about ourselves is love so I keep on doing it. I have very fair skin, some freckles, some redness in my checks. When I was a teen many people used to tease me about my skin color.Back at the 80's having a sun tan was really a big thing. I never was a beach lover. My skin so fair and reactivate, was a torment to stay without sunburn , so I never cared about the nasty comments. As I grew older, I more and more love my skin. Now I'm in the menopause phase, so I feel my skin dryer, which doesn't help me to stay younger, but as I told Eunice (your friend)I tell you :I am stubborn, so I never ever stop taking good care of my skin. What I always used to fear the most was aging before time, prematurely , like my mom did. I used to feel afraid of having wrinkles, now not anymore .But I tell you quite frankly, I still don't have wrinkles. True. No acne also, I never had. From now on, I don't know, maybe all will came at once, who knows? I'm relaxed about that now, but not neglecting , because I'm vain and I like to see myself in the mirror and be happy to see my skin healthy, that's it. Thank you dear Soo for reading such long comment and to be honest. I love your videos. You and Euniunni are just like my best friends now. Seeing you both just makes my beauty routines cheerful, and I learn a lot with both of you . You, like her, look like a grown child . So good to see your smiling face with your lovely dimples . Take care. Warm greetings from Portugal.

Hormonal acne is normal, I wish people understand that. The thing is, learn your skin. Learn what ingredients in skincare you’re sensitive to so you know what to avoid and what your skin likes. Diet , stress, sleep, habits, (don’t touch your face constantly, how often do you wash your pillows etc) all this matters. So I guess be mindful on all these areas and you will be okay.

Thank you for sharing this with us. It is hard when all we see in the media is celebs with flawless skin - not sure if they are blessed with perfect skin or always wear makeup/have make up artists. You have always been brave and honest about your acne problems. And it has made me learn to accept my skin and that even tho I have hormonal acne at least it has not been bad as when I was a teenager! I was on the pill for over 10 years to treat it but the pill is not good for the body. So I tried to get into skincare past few years and it has helped alot, even if skin is not perfect I see some improvement.

I used to think ideal skin means glass looking skin that can be achieved if I hv a 10 step routine but I was wrong. Quarantine really made my skin go cray cray and my last resort is to take better care by purchasing tons of skincare. After spending so much , I figured we do not need so many products in a routine and 3-4 is more than enough- Cleanser, toner, acne treatment, moisturizer and sunscreen. Now, I’m happy with how my skin looks just healthier and basic hormonal acne every month.

When I compare myself now to myself 8 years ago, my skin has improved a lot. I still get some acne and pimples here and there. There are also pores and acne scars. However, I feel like the best thing for me to do now is to apply sunscreen and learn what my skin prefers.
Like you said before, my current sunscreen has a shiny texture, so I will just blind people's eyes like a disco ball (with a mask)😆

The idea of "perfect skin" is so exclusive and discriminatory; it just seems pointless because it is impossible to reach. What exactly can define "perfect skin"? Even people who have seemingly "perfect" skin may not do anything to it and their skin might not be healthy at all. The goal is to care for yourself and that's why I absolutely love your channel, Soo. You keep it so real and you aren't afraid to be vulnerable, and you're inspiring others to do the same. Hey for your age try to have some simple routine depending on your skin type the soon jung line is good for sensitive and beginners remember dont over exfoliate start with ph 5.5 cleansers add hydrating toners and some specific serums for targeted issues make sure to seal the hydration with a good moisturizer the soon jung cica balm and 2x barrier intensive cream is good start and always use suncreen in the day they can be on pricey side but prevent so much damage so they are worth the investment the isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel is great also double cleanse if u wearing makeup and sunscreen whew that was long hope it helps 😁

I learned this year to organize online classes through Google meeting with lesser make-up or even no make-up at all and I slowly was able to do it, because this days when I have online classes with my students I don't do my make-up anymore. I only put a little but of tinted lip balm so that I will look more alive, and so far I am loving it and I feel more beautiful and confident that way. 🥰 I salute you Soo Unnie for showing your bareface, I know that it takes a lot of courage to do that and that is why I really salute. Well like what everybody says there will always be bad skin days and good skin days. The only think that we should take note is that "don't make a bad day make you feel you have a bad life" 🥰🥰

Hey Soo I was wondering if you tried prescription strength retinol cream in the past? My skin was like yours. Still acne with 29...then I got retinol from my dermatologist and it really changed my skin. I got the 0,5 % and it worked best (with lowest irritation) when I used in only once per week. But you have to be patient because it took me 1 year until my skin "transformed" with this method. I recommend everyone with serve acne to ask a dermatologist for topical retinol :)

so funny... even wearing this, you still look beautiful and lovely....besides your skincare content, I notice that you are very simple and nice....difficult , I guess , to be yourself completely on camera...very important you mention the importance of having healthy skin.. our body and skin changes as we get older... BUT at least you can age gracefully....

Avoid the oils girl. You’re making your skin worse🤦🏻‍♀️ left a comment on your older video. Hope you applied it.
