Storyline
The overall concept of the series was that each week The Stooges would try a different job or trade to see if eventually they might succeed; the comedy would ensue as each career they tried would eventually turn into a fiasco. In the pilot they try their hand as interior decorators. In their office, they meet a new client, Mr. Pennyfeather (Emil Sitka). Just a few moments after Pennyfeather arrives, Shemp accidentally spills ink down the front of Pennyfeather's suit, who becomes enraged. The Stooges then challenge Pennyfeather to mischief with them, featuring the famous "Texas" routine. After the some slapstick mayhem, they are successful in tossing Mr. Pennyfeather out of the office. Suddenly, the next client calls him on the phone for them to come in to manage her house. In her house, The Stooges not only hang wallpaper, but also manage to trash their client's home. Unfortunately, that woman is Mrs. Pennyfeather (Symona Boniface) and that house is Mr. Pennyfeather's house. After Mr. Pennyfeather comes home, the Stooges cover Mr. Pennyfeather with wallpaper and both Mr. Pennyfeather and the Stooges recognize each other (after Pennyfeather imitates the "Texas" routine done for him earlier by the Stooges). In a rage, as the trio attempts to sneak out of the house, both Pennyfeathers attack the boys with their own paint and utensils; the Pennyfeathers also snipe at each other for hiring them.
In the end, Moe, Larry, and Shemp, defeated and severely injured, remove "interior decorators" from the long list of services (listed on their office door) they offer. The list included other comically misspelled potential occupations for the trio for future episodes: physicians, surgeons, lawyers, engineers (civil, aeronautical, electrical and chemical), psychiatrists, optometrists (and "downtown-etrists"), bank examiners, real estate brokers (and broke estate realers), income tax preparers and babysitters (18 and over only).
To avert a legal hassle, Columbia instead licensed a package of 30 shorts from the film series to ABC.

THATS'S MY GREAT UNCLES MOE AND SHEMP!! I wish this show had been picked up! It's so great!
You’re family has entertained me for years!!!!
An actual Horwitz? That's crazy right here!
Your great uncles are funny
Yeah this would be a great tv show
Yeah, it’s too bad just because copyrights and everything really made it so hard back in the day and it’s still a problem these days now
Lady, we ain't got no time to be going out robbin' eggs! 🤣
Moe “It’s Quarter Feather!”
Pennyfeather “PENNYFEATHER!!!!”

Wait a minute there, NickelFeather

Nobody can compare to them. Everything was timed just right. They couldn't be funnier.
Ed, Edd, N Eddy are the cartoon versions of them.
The Trailer Park Boys are the R rated versions of them.
This is unbelievably Funny!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😄😄😄😄😄😄

Different watching them perform live in front of an audience, cant stop and start over if they screw up. This was better than I thought it would be.
I can remember them when I was a kid. But, curly Jo was doing the show with Moe and Larry.
Howard Weinstein - I thought this would be cringeworthy, and I’d stop watching after 2 or 3 minutes. But you’re correct, better than I thought. They were able to pull this off live, using the same old gags and props.
@@johnbecker9242 The Stooges were veterans of the vaudeville stage. Even during their movie heyday, they continued to make live appearances around America. So working in front of a live TV audience was a natural step for the boys.
The legands of comedy! Shemp is hilarious!
My favorite part is the letter press with Moe and Shemp at the beginning, especially the part where Shemp throws the press at Moe!
His mumbling combined with the funny sound he made when he hit Moe makes me wanna collapse on the floor with the giggles!
Emil Sitka, too! 😂🤣😂
And Emil Sitka -- slapping Shemp so gently so as not to hurt him.
“Hold hands, you lovebirds.”
Emil was originally the final stooge this never happened due to Moe’s death

He posthumously voiced the King of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland (1951).
I knew he sounds familiar I just didn't know where he came from now I know

The paint brush gag will never get old for me. 😂
These guys are real pros.
I wouldn't want want these guys redecorating my place.
Comedy MX the best to laugh at. Keep"M Coming and we will watch them.
A 3 Stooges TV show? Can't say I've heard of that!
The head of Columbia at the time nixed the idea because they were still under contract to do the short subjects. They tried another pilot in the early 60's, but that went nowhere also, but part of the footage was used in the movie The 3 Stooges in Orbit.
You betcha life we are. 😄
When I was younger, I never understood Larry’s gay gag in this episode 😂 And the Ping guy always killed me 🤣🤣
Very funny. Another of my favorites.
William-----this made my night........Bravo
Now that was funny! Enjoyed every minute!!

Very different without sound effects and special camera angles, but still very well done/executed and funny.

*The devil possesses Pennyfeather*
I had no idea this existed. This is the first I have seen this.
Columbia Pictures stopped them from moving forward with this ABC TV show. Their contract with Columbia had a non competition clause.
Hilarious, this is awesome,
17:46 oh I can see like a owl now! 🦉 😂😂
I actually remember this on a video tape in the late 1990s early 2000s.
Sheep has always been the funniest to me 😂
Symona's final appearance. Batting pancreatic cancer at this time.
Moe to Larry: “ What are you doing!! Are you an idiot,an imbecile, a moron!!!!!” Larry heartily laughs and when Moe crossly asks What are you laughing for!! Larry replies: 8-5 I’m in there somewhere!! These guys were priceless.
Oh my gosh I remember this episode
1:55 🎶Come in🎶
Come in!
Thanks for the video! Never knew this existed!
Originally, The Stooges were supposed to have a tv show called “The Three Stooges Show” with Shemp, Larry, and Moe. However for some reason this did not happened due to the studio losing money. I think that is unfortunate because a comedy show of the stooges would’ve been a try not to laugh show. In conclusion, the rating should’ve been TV-PG
Their last TV show or any kind of show was supposed to be a travel show called
' Kooks Tour '. They made a few episodes but never aired.
The only remaining versions were released as a super 8 sound movie.
I have video tape of Kooks Tour that was made from the super - 8 films.
Moe, Larry, and Curly Joe DiRita
I loved them.
Nickelfeather!!! Pennyfeather!!! Moe: “Can’t even open a little file drawer, how did you get so stupid!!!” Larry responds: “I’ve got a charge account, what’s your excuse!!!”
Watching this kind of showed why the Stooges found little success after Shemp left. A lot of what made them great was the timing of the editing. Camera angles and the sound effects all gave them that edge. Their later movies had the worst camera work, sloppy editing and it made them just look awkward and out of step. Being live here, which what I can only assume was two cameras, gives them a bit of that awkwardness, also. But still funny and still wonderful to watch. Thanks for the upload.
When I was a young kid we had an old
Electrolux vacuum cleaner which worked great but the hose was falling apart. One Saturday my dad and I went to a little vacuum shop to get the hose rebuilt with new material. The guy working the shop looked EXACTLY like Shemp Howard. I watched him get out new hose material off of a roll and cut and glue it together. When he made out the bill he had to get out his big black frame reading glasses and looked just like Shemp here with his
' owl vision ' glasses, except they weren't that thick.
Hey William!!! I've been looking forward to this!!
If their pants get any higher they'll choke on 'em! Quite a good comedy pilot for the era, IMO! I've always heard Desi Arnez was in large part responsible for the 3-camera recording process. And this is 1949, 2 years before I Love Lucy aired. Hard to imagine this old kinescope was once cutting edge tech. The Stooges suffer a bit on TV due to the lack of their amazing Foley artist (the Fourth Stooge), but still come across pretty good! Shoulda had a chance!
Desi Arnaz's process involved using 3 motion picture cameras filming the action simultaneously
in front of a studio audience. The show was then put together in the editing room. This pilot was made using (probably) 3 electronic TV cameras, the vision being filmed by a movie camera pointed at a studio monitor. The resulting film was called a kinescope, the quality of which was always inferior to a program shot on film. When videotape was invented in 1956, it gradually replaced kinescopes, which were still used up until the 1970s.
Wish the stooges were still alive miss them all
I like reading the storyline you have posted
Great seeing Emil Sitka and I love seeing Symona Boniface!
Hilarious 🤣 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

That contract wuth Columbia was too restrictive!! Imagine the msyhem caused on tv they could have done.
So funny fantastic content bro
"You can't open a little file drawer, how did you ever get so stupid?"
"I gotta charge account, what's your excuse?"
"Remind me to lower your salary and raise your forehead!" (SLAP) "Get outta here!"
Very entertaining and those slaps.........what more can I say.

It's a shame Cloumbia threatened them with a lawsuit.

I've got to wonder if Symona Boniface was showing signs of pancreatic cancer in this short. She appears to have lost quite a bit of weight judging from some earlier shorts she was in. I always enjoy her stooges appearances.
Moe to Shemp: What,in your opinion, would make this room more appealing, livable, and good to the eye!!” Shemp replies:”Food, drink and a couple of dames!!!”

Who plays the pressure cooker salesman? He’s a funny guy.
Dink Trout. He was mostly a radio actor who occasionally appeared in films (Disney liked to use him a lot). I think this was his only TV role, though, because he unfortunately passed away a few months after it was filmed.

@@kennealy2148 You're Tex!
Wow, It’s Moe with a Paul McCartney wig.
Were there other Jerks of all Trades episodes? If yes, where can I watch them?
No. Columbia refused to allow the series to be made because it may have interfered with their shorts.
If only Columbia Pictures said “ we’ll let your tv series move forward then you can still do shorts and do a television series”
The sketch on the wall behind them around the 15:30 mark...is that supposed to be their mother? 🤣🤣
Included as a second dvd.
I wish can see I love Lucy pilot.
What's the point of posting 182 episodes if you're only going to make 3 of them visible for viewing?
The show was produced by Phil Berle, Milton Berle's brother.
This clip was the last appearance of Symona Boniface.
She appeared in stock footage after this I'm pretty sure. This is the last while she was alive though
13:45 to 14:18 XD
For ABC TV.

Thought I had seen them all. Not this, though.
