The Three Stooges were so talented. They were very good singers as well, though we got a hint of that from some of their short features. Vaudeville called upon performers to maximize their talents. Seems they (performers) could all play serious roles, sing, dance, tell jokes, do comedy, play various instruments, etc. back then, moving seamlessly from one act to a completely different one. Since then it seems most performers are two dimensional. A lot of talent still, but it seems all they need is a marketable image.
