The first IRON MAIDEN album was seminal in making heavy metal huge worldwide! It was a defining moment for the genre.
I saw Iron Maiden on the Killers Tour in America. They were the opening act for Judas Priest. Paul was amazing on that Tour. Those are great memories!
Only a singer like Di'Anno could carry the original Iron Maiden, Listen to the First and second albums plus Maiden Japan if you can find it. lot of energy. all classics.
the maiden japan bootleg with the full concert is awesome! much better than all of maiden live albums. they should have released it in full back in the day, or maybe someday... clive's solo in another life, dave's solo after transylvania... the setlist, paul's voice, all the energy of the band, PERFECT!
I hope Paul can get well quickly and make a live show. Paul is emotion, is remembering, is a lot of nice precious things

Paul Di'Anno was the man when I was 14 years old in Jr. High and he's still the man, sad to say I never got to see him or meet him but I hear he'll still be making music after his touring is finished.
The show is perfect and believe me i know what i'm saying, i saw dianno live at great festivals but also at little places, he's always delivering the goods, god bless paul dianno.
I must confess that I was impressed when I saw as a child the first video of Iron Maiden Run to the hills, but what impressed me most was when I heard Paul. A true giant, what great memories and currently what a voice!

I kind of like this, in a way Di´Anno was, and still are, much cooler than Dickinson ever will be. A totally different kind of singer, for good and bad.

Sudsy Sutherland Wish Paul would get back or try to sing like he used to instead of all these death metal Phil Anselmo like growls and grunts though.
Paul has been singing this way since about 1995 where he reinvented himself obviously to try and revitalise his career and become cool...Really annoying.. I prefer Bruces voice these days... Paul sounds awful here... Bruce has never changed... Paul just changes his style alot to stay relevant.

I'm a huge Dickinson/Maiden fan.
His band sounds fantastic...I mean we all know that these guys are not using the caliber of equipment that Maiden employs right? I'm just not sure why the criticisms are here.
He opens with power and he screams well during Wrathchild. These comments have me second guessing my own ears.
I always liked the raw aggression Paul brought. And he doesn't disappoint here. You people know that he is a punk vocalist right?

I think the crowd's reaction is more indicative of what I'm hearing. Paul was tearing shit up hard... gruff and badass. I dont know what you other people expected but this is 10 times better than what I expected from a band fronted by a 60 year old.
Say what you will about him Paul is still out ther and people still want to hear him,also he has a great band behind him. He just has to get over his anger towards maiden
Interesting that most of his set was 'classic' Maiden, while Maiden seems to be more interested in playing newer material.
He explained that in some earlier interviews: most people come to his gigs to hear Maiden's tunes. At the end of the day, we all need to make a living. Paul recorded countless albums full of new material, but Maiden stuff remains the most popular (it's no surprise Harris is a better songwriter than Paul...)

As an experiment, I grabbed the set list from the most recent show of theirs I've found. Mind you, this is a constantly touring band vs. DiAnno, who doesn't tour as much and his show here is from 2013. Interestingly enough, you are literally wrong here. Yes. I noticed that too. He needs to just sing straight forward like he always used to. He sings like crap now and it is all about his delivery, not his actual voice.

Discordo, Bruce nunca tenta copiar o Paul, sempre ele coloca sua maneira de cantar em cada música, seja gravada por ele, pelo Paul ou pelo Blaze, aliás, cada vocalista tem sua própria identidade, nenhum NUNCA quis copiar o outro, isso é talvez o que torna todos ótimos vocalistas, a frente de grandes albuns e performances ao vivo.

Dude coulda been one of the biggest vocalists of the 80s but he couldn’t get out of his own way and he can’t leave Maiden behind. Still using the Maiden font on his name. Spent decades not taking care of himself. Maiden is still filling arenas and looking in shape and DiAnno can barely sing one line without being out of breath. It’s a shame what he turned into.

@@gabrielp9646 Not exactly right. Especially about Bruce Dickinson he did had some bad words every once in a while. Just look on RUclips, it's there. But yes , he had the decency to wish him a good recovery when Bruce suffered from cancer. I guess he'll always be a bit of a "bad boy" anyway. I think the drugs and alcohol have stopped him, not just from continuing his career in Maiden, but also fun having a decent ski career. He doesn't have a bad voice, but some sind sound just plain awful. And his intent to sing hardcore... It just doesn't fit his voice. OK, it's easier to write a hardcore song than a sing with a good melody... And well, he's not a great songwriter. I've listened to his solo works and to killers but apart of some more or less good songs, must is just rather bad material.
@@HipsterEatinShark I funny hatte him, I just wished he'd have started a decent solo career back then. Too much drugs and alcohol... And the intent to sing hardcore... It just doesn't fit. He'd be good for punk and for old school heavy metal... But hardcore simple doesn't fit him well either. I really tried to like his solo material and killers, but with exception of a few songs must material is between mediocre and even bad at times. It's sad, since I really love his vocals on the first maiden albums.

They did say some stupid things in the past, in interviews, things like "oh, they´re such idiots. they don´t know what they´re missing, is their lost. I didn´t want to play with them anyway... they are not half a musician as I am" But most people cutted out that kind of stuff in the early 90s or so (even other bands with ex-members like guns n roses, black sabbath, deep purple, etc) I guess what Im trying to say is: the only one here who´s "sad" and who "doesn´t gets over things" is @Maiden Wool xDxD

+D Silva He literally did this live DVD after the fans asked him for years and years to do a live recording with Maiden stuff, but he had a couple of other pretty succesful bands (mainly Battlezone and Killers) But he also did hard rock and alternative stuff as Di´Anno, punk rock with the Almighty Inbredz, and two albums of more classic stuff with Dennis Stratton.. Maybe you should give them a listen, at least if you want to talk about it :S:S

Paul Dianno hizo este DVD después de que los fans le pidieran algo de contenido en directo con los temas clásicos de Maiden durante años... Pero tuvo varias bandas de relativo éxito en los 80s y 90s (sobretodo Battlezone y Killers) con las que sacó varios albums.. Además hizo discos con bandas como the Almighty Inbredz o the Architects of Chaoz, y con musicos como Dennis Stratton... A lo mejor te apetece escuchartelos, ya sabes, antes de abrir la boca :S:S

This is disappointing as a vocal performance. The backing bang is bad ass. I remember seeing Icarus Witch from Pittsburgh be his backing band, those cats were spot on but Paul was a bloody mess. fell down the stairs of the venue during the day drunk off his ass couldn't even do soundcheck. ugh... I loved Maiden with him, It was the power and attitude which Bruce will never equal those early days for me. Although, Maiden did great stuff with Bruce, 89 and later their catalog to me was weak. The Killers band Paul had was pretty bad ass, so was Battlezone, but he decided the bottle was more important than staying in good personal health. I think he just never got past the firing. Seeing him lately online, he looks horrible. Sad part is, he will be the next one we hear about passing away.

The best thing for Dianno was to go his own way... and the best thing for Maiden was to get Dickinson of course. Different beasts... one would stick to a hard rock / punk / heavy while the other would cover all that and even more. I like the first two Maiden records and some Dianno solo work too but you can't compare cherries to peaches.
