I always wanted to skate as a kid. We were too broke and couldn’t afford a proper skateboard. I’m an adult now, have a good career as a nurse and picked up my childhood dream. I Bought a skateboard and haven’t stopped riding it since. Its a good stress reliever and once I am on it, I don’t think about anything else.
@Donnell Okafor I was an 18 year old kid from Derry in Ireland, just landed in NYC that year. The skate and hip hop culture blew my mind, it was like a different planet to me. I loved every second of it, crazy as it was at times. I still reminisce fondly. Would love to see New Orleans at some point.
@Donnell Okafor very cool, London is actually pretty easy to get to from where I live in the Northwest of Ireland. Growing up in Ireland during the Troubles though kinda put England down the list of my preferred destinations haha, I'm glad to say things have changed for the better now. I hope things worked out with the girl 👍
This brings back so many memories. I used to skip school from CT and go and watch these guys in Washington Square Park, but some herb, pick up some mixtapes and knockoffs in Chinatown. Good times.
I'm very fortunate to live in Jersey. Hopping the Path from Hoboken to 9th street and a quick walk to WSP. Always my first stop when I visit the city. Copped mad herb there, though it was always short lol. $20 for a dime/nick but well worth it.
I wish Disney didn't take over 42nd St., they tore down a great old movie house that had a balcony, you could watch 3 movies for one price back to back. NYC in the early 80's was vibrant alive and exciting...after Gulianni became Mayor it all changed..he was a thug in a suit.

I hung out at the Park in '95, Kids was more like a documentary than a movie. Really caught the vibe.

I wish gentrification never happened to NYC. It would still be like it used to be.
Susie Moonwalker it is almost unrecognizable now. You can almost feel like a stranger in your own city.
I love you for saying that. I live that sentiment daily. NOTHING like the old NYC.
I wish Disney didn't take over
