      Yeah to see on screen it seems really raw and bad but when you are living it (minus all the casual sex) it does not seem weird.

      @@coachdemetrius It's a sneek-peek of the lives of some teens since the 1950's actually; kids nowadays are probably more educated in Sex issues and other social issues. When this film was made in the late 90s, THAT was the bad depraved time to be a teen, especially here in the UK ! Over here, hooliganism, alcoholism and general delinquency was the mainstream culture among the 13-25 age group, thanks to the mass-media becoming increasingly expansive and 'mandatory', alcohol being sold to minors, and pop culture being contaminated with depraved, moronic 'Brit' celebrities like The Spice Slags & Oasis. I think today's teens are more wise, tolerant & respectful, with more moral & social integrity.

The first scene of the film shocked the hell out of me...But now, as an indie film maker at age 24, I think it's actually kind of brilliant as a come of age film for adults... Nothing against the filmmakers and actors, but i'll never watch it again... It has taught me a lot and enough of what i needed to know in my personal life and in the modern film industry.

    The reason the film resonated with me at 17 wasn’t just because I was a teenager and a skateboarder, it’s because the rawness of what is being shown is a big part of what’s happening in a lot of young people’s life. It’s even attractive. The brilliance to me is by glorifying, in a sense, the lifestyles portrayed the viewer goes along for the ride and learns the actual message of the whole experience. An audience will react to it according to their own personal biases but I consider it, almost, required viewing for teens and young adults. This is, was, and will be an important film. Bravo and thank you to all involved. RIP Justin and Harold. Legends never die.

    The thing about kids is it managed to capture the essence of the youth/skater scene, not just in New York but world wide. I was a part of it for a few years in high school and it’s very accurate. I also know a guy who raped 3 girls while they slept over the course of a year and was a witness to put him behind bars so the film is definitely a cautionary tale

    i think they were more than just kids playing in the park.. i think the film wouldnt be anything without them, every single young person, they gave it all. the director brought the table, maybe the dishes- but the kids brought all the food to the table. they gave all. i dont know how much they got in reward. greetings from europe-

Oh well. Probably nonexistent never recorded footage. That sucks, because I really wanna see them all speak together since I never have. And Leo. They all looked so nervous together..

    It's would awesome if they did an aftermath story of the characters such as a sequel.

    • @missourigreen051
      @missourigreen051 7 лет назад +20

      I really would like a sequel. But I want the sequel to be like a horror movie, not fantasy horror I'm talking about real world horror. Based on the ending of the first movie you know the characters future is really fucked, so it would be interesting to watch a realistic real world type of horror movie based on the characters and I want it to take place a couple months or maybe 1 year after the first movie (which can be possible, you just have to recast everyone, try to pick actors who look 100% like the previous characters, and still make it take place in the 90's).

      That would be a bleak ass movie tho. If we were going by their characters; Telly would have either died from HIV or ended up on a sex offender registry. Casper would have either also died from HIV or lived a life of homelessness/drugs. And the rest of the characters probably got an STD too or lived a life of drugs and poverty.

If they do make a modern version, Im definitely going to watch. I just hope its just as raw as this movie was because thats what makes it so special in my opinion.

    A friend of mines mother took us to the local indie theatre to see it. None of us had any idea what we were in for. Sadly, it was definitely a mirror to our lives at the time. (I was 15). Whether my friends mom knew it or not, I don't know..... I hope she didn't.

    I grew a up a millennial and I can relate to a lot of whats going on in this movie. Back in the day we were all just kids, not having a thing to worry about, meeting different people, having new experiences, trying different drugs and although not all of it was necessarily healthy but I am glad I didnt grew up in an era where all gen z kids do is stay at home, be depressed and suicidal, make tictoks and other social media content and play video games all day. Yes we were doing a lot wrong back in the day as well but at least we were happy.
