Thanks for the memories. Left Barrhead in 1972. Just loved remembering the different locations, landmarks and streets. D'you know, I think I am feeling nostalgic! People whom I thought I'd forgotten came flooding into my mind, old schoolfriends (St John's Primary, 1955-1961), old girlfriends (Helen, Margaret, Jean), workmates (Barrhead Co-op, 1965-1969). Wonder where they are now?
Barrhead coop down by to dovecote roundabout? My grandfather worked in there, he was the butcher George Steele, like yourself getting very nostalgic about the toon, living in Gloucestershire these days myself
@@mitchellsteele3878 From 1967 to 1969, I was an apprentice TV engineer with the Co-op and our workshop was at the back of the shop opposite Dovecothall Inn. (I think it sild electrical goods.). My gaffer was Tommy Simpson. Anybody remember him? I must admit, I don't remember the butcher.
Before my time , I left Barrhead high in 1979, served my time as a mechanic at George king garage in Barrhead next to truck point, my father worked as a coach builder with leggetts then millbay transport at the back of spillers , he then managed the Arthurlie inns
Great vid to watch, many memories of places shown, my grandparents and parents lived in Barrhead, I moved away many yrs ago but still visit family in Barrhead, now live in the Cotswolds,
What a wonderful trip down "Memory Lane". Is this film on disc or some other media? I was born in Arthurlie Street in 1935 and my family moved to Fereneze Drive in 1952. Eventually came back to Barrhead after a spell in London and became part owner of the Arthurlie Inns with Rena Peacock. Now living in Aberdeenshire and really enjoyed the film with places and events that played such an important part of my life. A great town and a great place to grow up in. Looking forward to my next visit home. George Paterson
i love going into paisley and Glasgow and futher afeild even visiting England but id never want to leave Barrhead my heart lies here this i my home town and my memories are here and i love it here too much
Love this.My Dad grew up in Barrhead. He moved away to Wales. His name was Brian Collins. He lost his battle to Cancer a couple of years ago.Love the Scottish accent 🌞🌈❤
great wee video 👍 i now live in perth western Australia and in the fremantle markets i went to the toilets and found a shanks barrhead urinal . the markets were storage for shipping and the urinal was about 100 year old .
It used to be said that you'd find Shanks of Barrhead anywhere in the world. I believe they were installed on the Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary. Sheer luxury!
iv lived in Barrhead all ma life and theirs a lot a danna know about it ma house is over 100 years old i love ma town sad we get crappy weather on the Gala day rains very year
Braw wee video of my hometown. Mary...If I could perhaps suggest that you re-post this video on RUclips with the title 'Barrhead 1894-1994' instead of 'VTS 01 1'. That way lots more people will find it & enjoy it simply by entering the word 'Barrhead' in their search. It certainly deserves a larger audience. Cheers... Ted Easdon.
my gran told me about the old coop Gala as i thought it was like the modern Gala today with the queen and now he king but apparently not they didnt have a Gala king or queen
Great memories of getting off in Borheid at the station off the late night bud and walking to dykebar in Paisley on a Friday or Saturday night after a night in Glasgow.

Wonderful!
My home town, left many years ago but still visit relatives.
Brilliant documentary, I'm from Borrheid but have lived in London for the last 25 years. The greatest place on Earth.
27th July 1966. When my Mum first came to Scotland, Dad took her up the Craigie to show Mum Scotlands' beauty. True story.

Barrhead? Borrheid surely.
Always hated outsiders saying "Barrheid" thinking they were saying the dialect correctly.
@@Kelly14UK It was Borrheid to us in the bottom scheme.
