  • Fusion 360, for parametric CAD design of electronics enclosures, is a fantastic tool. In this series we learn a very useful set of skills that revolve around using fusion 360 as a powerful design tool for 3D printing.
In this video we design the volume dial for the enclosure.
Modelling in context, design for manufacture and parametric modelling are all very powerful tools that you will want to have if you are looking improve your skills in CAD. Parametric modelling allows you to make easy adjustments to you model by ensure that your geometry is suitably linked with dimensions and references. Design for manufacture is the application of knowledge of a manufacturing process to influence the design and optimise it for a process or set of processes. Modelling in context is an advanced technique used in the engineering industry where your models are design in the context of their higher level assemblies rather than just on their own origin in isolation.

Nice...you may want to add the hole feature from the last video for the bottom part screw holes :-)

Nice, out of curiosity why didn't you leave a tolerance between the potentiometer knob and the hole in the volume dial? It might work as a press fit/interference fit but in my experience they just don't fit. That being said, my printers aren't at all top shelf and are all built to a price point or rather old.

Nice knob. Now all you have to do is make the components fly apart and reassemble themselves and/or make the knob turn.

What, no enclosure part 6? ;) O.K., but the animation features are cool and even useful when demonstrating one's designs to others. A possible topic for you if you continue with Fusion tutorials or just an entertaining way to end a design project.
