His tendency to critique and adjust the story of the tree also reminds me of people here on FimFiction, trying to keep everything fitting in a consistent tone and continuity ("Yeah, but mine makes more sense.") Since he is the closest thing the Student Six have to a leader, it's fitting he would be given the role of some of our community figureheads. While Gallus has taken the "egghead" route this episode, the scholarly Ocellus takes a philosophical perspective, venerating the moral lessons that the show Tree sincerely communicates. That's not to say that she's been displaced from her preferred role though; living through the Changeling Renaissance has imparted on her the importance of mental health principled leadership. She reminds me of the really bright spots in our fandom, like Sprocket Doggingsworth and her series "Help! My Heart is Full of Pony!” available on FimFiction and Tumblr. Or some of the panels I’ve attended at conventions like “Joining the Herd,” or “the Psychology of Ponies” by Fiaura the Tank Girl. Conventions act as a high point of socializing because of limited ability to form bonds online. They’re just baffled at how such drama can occur in a community of ostensibly like-minded fans. I was only able to watch about a third of this episode before the Livestreams I tried started crapping out, and I just gave up. I caught it on Dailymotion a few hours later, but I had heard that this was just a retread of Castle Sweet Castle. Instead it was young minds debating the virtues of mediums, and the intent behind communication of history and ideals. Since this is a website OF fan creations, I think we should able to read a TON into these characters based on their approaches. I’m surprise more people here aren't remarking on this.

I see that this episode was placed in good timing for memorials after a tragedy. For example day after this episode was the Norte Dame fire. The follow up after that incident the video game company UB soft actually took the architect files that they had for assassin‘s creed unity in order to rebuild truly helps symbolize in comparison with the episode that a new generation can help rebuild the old and along with other examples of rebuilding after a tragedy with other memorials like war war two, the September 11 attacks the Oklahoma City bombing and by versa all in all this episode is given a lot of under credit and I really appreciated it strong morals. As for the reason why even though we excepted that the tree of harmony was gone in yet a new one in the clubhouse and emerged it’s no different than in all of their memorials it’s not supposed to replace but it supposed to give them in representation for a new generation The history behind it the continuation of its morals and to be sure that history is never forgotten of that particular location no more than when both Oklahoma City and the World Trade Center had the floorplans of the building still there I am me I am note that if you’re in the song you see Yonah put into towering pieces of the tree together they Chyna symbolize the World Trade Center anyways heck I guess Hasbro knew they weren’t going to make the 20th anniversary of 911 so that was a really smart tribute

Ya know, I may not keep up with the actual show anymore, but I will cry when it’s over. This show definitely helped shape me as a human as did many of the creators in the community, including you Silver. I probably would not be the same person I am today without it. It’s what brought out a lot of my current interests such as art, animation, cosplay, and video making.

My opinion: The Pillars of Old Equestria planted a seed, and from this seed grew the Tree of Harmony. The Tree of Harmony summoned six Champions to bear its gifts. These Champions of Harmony now no longer need the gifts, and thus the Tree let itself be destroyed. Now a _new_ generation has taken the burden of ash and rubble from their forebears, and they have rebuilt it into something completely new. Though it may inherit the spirit, this is _not_ the Tree of Harmony. Equestria no longer needs the Tree of Harmony. This is something new, for the next generation of heroes and those that they'll protect. This is why I'm so frustrated at the show sometimes. I'd rather they wield their own shit like in the season eight final instead of Equestria's most power defense against anything that dares to harm it. Only one out of the six creatures are Equestrian and it doesn't make any sense that other species could wield such power. It'll also be a lot better if the creatures wielded the artifacts of their species and not a foreign one as it's just more awarding that way instead of having them wield power that was never theirs to begin with.

"truth fart" are not words I expected to hear in my life. Another well thought out analysis! Honestly, I'm pretty happy with how this show portrays grief. It's a bit simplified, but it helps normalize some of the reactions kids might have and could lead to some important conversations with their parents (assuming parents do their jobs which considering this is 2019 might be a bit too much to ask). I also really like how this season and Season 8 are diving more into cultural differences because that's something I don't feel is talked about often enough especially in children's media.

I feel like the new meaning for the tree is of the fandom. And not just the fandom but for the show itself. When you look at it this way, season 9 is the last season before G5, all the characters will be new, the show entirely will be new as it will be advertised to a much older audience. G4 brought alot of fans together, the show created a huge fandom of reviews, analyst, artists, and more. And I know alot of people of the fandom is sad and might have left in the past while. When Yona said "Yaks no not everything forever, that's why smash and rebuilt" It's the same for the show. Friendship is Magic is not forever, so that's why My Little Pony will be rebuilt after this season. The tree was taken out to show that the old tree of harmony is G4, the new tree is G5. It took the Young Six, the new fandom or new members of the fandom, in this case, to keep growing and going. Will the fandom be strong for G5? Who knows, will the fandom accept G5? Probably, probably not. While not everything is forever, that doesn't mean you can't appreciate what something was or is. And that's why this episode to me feels strongly as a message to the fandom in disguise, that the show writers and staff are grateful and thankful to all of us for how this community grew the show, and how this show grew when Lauren even left.
Yona is actually my favorite student out of the six. Her way of speaking really grew on me and she is genuinely adorable and memorable. Even after "She's All Yak", she is still my favorite student six. To be honest I think the show really became weaker after Season 6. Aside from a few, not many episodes are as memorable as before and some are actually pretty bad. This episode is one of them. It feels like the middle segment of it is really just a filler, like Silver Quill says. I still like the show but it's really not as good as before anymore.
I think there's a fuzzy transition... but... By rebuilding from the fragments of the tree, they reassembled it's spirit and strengthened their friendship... and the giant tree house represents not the return of the tree but stronger, but the return of the memory/spirit/meaning but stronger. They so happened to get a physical representation.
If this was really the world of cartoons in the 80's or even before that, I could see this as a possible thing. Nowadays though, Hasbro is making the choice to pull out. MLP might sleep for another good while. Or it could continue in some comic form. Anything to be cheaper but still net a gain. While other shows will continue marching forward way past the ripe phase, this one is just closing down. Not sure how well the market for everything is going, even the cons, but someone must have just said "Enough". For goodness sake you lot still don't have a proper game after this long.

I always admire how you are able to unpack emotional and psychological impacts on and within a story so eloquently. While my own analyses look at the world and its structure, you look at the emotional and cultural influences that shape those structures and I will continue to watch your analyses for those POVs.
When I look at what happen in this episode I can actually see several points that I think they were trying to go with. Since this was the last season of the series the fact that the key piece taken away was hell nothing lasts forever and that that’s OK. As for the resurrection of the tree, it would make sense that the tree of harmony knew what was about to happen to it, much like the friendship missions, it knew it was about to be destroyed and the only ones that would be able to fix it would be the young six.
Actually they've made toys after Silverstream and Sandbar. Well, the most pony like, lovely color combo, easy to brush ones... of course... The 2 of them are also the only students 6 to appear in the Cutie Mark Crew chibi series. At least those look better, though they made Sandbar a pegasus, so yeah... Hasbro...

This episode came out just a few days before the massive fire at Notre Dame Cathedral. I was pretty affected by that tragedy, so I couldn't help but notice some emotional parallels, like honoring the past through memorial or the fact that nothing lasts forever.
On a previous Fun fact: the first super villain team-up was the Monster Society of Evil lead by Mr.Mind against Captain Shazam in 1943; I feel like it's more reminiscent to the MLP team-up of villains than the Legion of Doom from 1996.
Really enjoyed this one as usual! Although I would say that I don't see the tree house rising as backpedaling on the acceptance of grief lesson. If the tree came back the same as before then I could see it, but it came together as a result of the students and became something different. I interpret that more as building something new from the ashes.
This episode seems to be a metaphor for the show’s ending and what the fans can do to keep the show alive. Just look at the tree as the show (or the show staff) and the studious six as Bronies.
It took seasons upon seasons for Rainbow to become a Wonderboly with her winning a flying competition, organising water for Coudsdale, going to be academy, taking written exams and being a substitute before she became a Wonderbolt so it wasn’t sudden.
I feel like this clubhouse is less Hasbro mandated since as you said none of them have toys yet and more of this plot/continuity/tying up lose ends clean up that all of season 9 has been so far. The Tree of Harmony gave Twilight a castle that doesn't fit into anything in Ponyville but it wasn't randomly so the Tree of Harmony can only make things out of crystal. And as much as some of the episodes this one included isn't my favorite I still love that they made it to "tie up" so many things and still make such vastly diffrent ends fit together. We get to see more of the other lands and cultures in a nice farewell, we get a use for the old dropped castle plot, we get an actually good reason for why students end up in the Everfreeforest, we get to see what became of the Tree of Harmony and we get a nice showing of all the Student 6 working together. We might get more episodes that focus on the students individually but overall I doubt we'll see them working together until the season finale where they'll have to compete with everyone else and even that is just a maybe. I really like that season 9 isn't just another season it's giving us an end to the questions fans has had for sometimes years, sure some off them are a bit of a cop-out like Celestia and Luna wanting to retire but I doubt that was ever planned like many things in FiM wasn't. The writers got stuck in a corner by a lot of the earlier episodes and instead of doing like many, many shows before they didn't just end the series in the middle of something they're tying of things with season 9 and starting fresh with the new show that (from what they've said) they've put more work into the story and world so it all ties together better. I think that's really nice it's a good send off to such a belowed series.

The Tree first reaches out to the Young Six when there are still six active Element bearers. That-along with the map missions-seems to indicate that there's no limit to the number of agents the Tree can call on. Does that mean that previous bearers might be able to wield the Elements? Maybe the royal sisters could have regained their connection to the Elements with Luna now redeemed. And what about the Pillars? Could they have potentially wielded the Elements? I also wonder if there's an in-universe explanation for why the Element colors shifted from the colors of the gems to the colors of the Mane Six. The gem colors are present on the School of Friendship's symbol with an extra green gem for Spike. However, the Tree seems to be using the coat colors of the Mane Six for their respective Elements. Maybe the original gem colors were inspired by the traits of each Pillar? Hmm…
I had the same thoughts about the rebuilding of the tree, that it was odd to undo the loss of the tree, but then it hit me when I was watching your review... It is just like you said, its not about the grief, it is about acceptance and moving on. The lesson is that when something gets destroyed, you can salvage what is left and make something new. It will never be the same again, but it dont mean that the spirit is lost and you can love the new thing even if you miss the old. After all, acceptance isnt just about puckering up and dealing with things, it is also about finding new roads ahead. Maybe that is the best lesson when it comes to loss, one that is most forgotten. To rise like a phoenix from the ashes. Sure, the treehouse take away from the stakes, but we cannot be sure if it still work in the same way as before...we dont know if the elements themselves were recreated. And it is possible the stakes will be raised so high its just pure insane luck they still have that tree house to cover in.

@@SunGodNika-bi2jr Creature Six are unworthy to wield such power as they haven't earned it like the current Elements of Harmony did. I'd rather they wield their own shit like in the season eight final instead of Equestria's most power defense against anything that dares to harm it. Only one out of the six creatures are Equestrian and it doesn't make any sense that other species could wield such power. It'll also be a lot better if the creatures wielded the artifacts of their species and not a foreign one as it's just more awarding that way instead of having them wield power that was never theirs to begin with.

Another well thought out analysis! Honestly, I'm pretty happy with how this show portrays grief. It's a bit simplified, but it helps normalize some of the reactions kids might have and could lead to some important conversations with their parents (assuming parents do their jobs which considering this is 2019 might be a bit too much to ask). I also really like how this season and Season 8 are diving more into cultural differences because that's something I don't feel is talked about often enough especially in children's media.

I feel like the new meaning for the tree is of the fandom. And not just the fandom but for the show itself. When you look at it this way, season 9 is the last season before G5, all the characters will be new, the show entirely will be new as it will be advertised to a much older audience. G4 brought alot of fans together, the show created a huge fandom of reviews, analyst, artists, and more. And I know alot of people of the fandom is sad and might have left in the past while. When Yona said "Yaks no not everything forever, that's why smash and rebuilt" It's the same for the show. Friendship is Magic is not forever, so that's why My Little Pony will be rebuilt after this season. The tree was taken out to show that the old tree of harmony is G4, the new tree is G5. It took the Young Six, the new fandom or new members of the fandom, in this case, to keep growing and going. Will the fandom be strong for G5? Who knows, will the fandom accept G5? Probably, probably not. While not everything is forever, that doesn't mean you can't appreciate what something was or is. And that's why this episode to me feels strongly as a message to the fandom in disguise, that the show writers and staff are grateful and thankful to all of us for how this community grew the show, and how this show grew when Lauren even left.
Yona is actually my favorite student out of the six. Her way of speaking really grew on me and she is genuinely adorable and memorable. Even after "She's All Yak", she is still my favorite student six.
To be honest I think the show really became weaker after Season 6. Aside from a few, not many episodes are as memorable as before and some are actually pretty bad. This episode is one of them. It feels like the middle segment of it is really just a filler, like Silver Quill says. I still like the show but it's really not as good as before anymore.

By rebuilding from the fragments of the tree, they reassembled it's spirit and strengthened their friendship... and the giant tree house represents not the return of the tree but stronger, but the return of the memory/spirit/meaning but stronger.

If this was really the world of cartoons in the 80's or even before that, I could see this as a possible thing. Nowadays though, Hasbro is making the choice to pull out. MLP might sleep for another good while. Or it could continue in some comic form. Anything to be cheaper but still net a gain. While other shows will continue marching forward way past the ripe phase, this one is just closing down. Not sure how well the market for everything is going, even the cons, but someone must have just said "Enough".

I always admire how you are able to unpack emotional and psychological impacts on and within a story so eloquently. While my own analyses look at the world and its structure, you look at the emotional and cultural influences that shape those structures and I will continue to watch your analyses for those POVs.
When I look at what happen in this episode I can actually see several points that I think they were trying to go with. Since this was the last season of the series the fact that the key piece taken away was hell nothing lasts forever and that that’s OK. As for the resurrection of the tree, it would make sense that the tree of harmony knew what was about to happen to it, much like the friendship missions, it knew it was about to be destroyed and the only ones that would be able to fix it would be the young six.

4:17-4:23 is the moment I officially subbed, a yu gi oh abridged reference goes a long way in my books! (To be fair I was going to sub anyways, I just wanted to watch more of your videos first.)
This episode came out just a few days before the massive fire at Notre Dame Cathedral. I was pretty affected by that tragedy, so I couldn't help but notice some emotional parallels, like honoring the past through memorial or the fact that nothing lasts forever.
On a previous Fun fact: the first super villain team-up was the Monster Society of Evil lead by Mr.Mind against Captain Shazam in 1943; I feel like it's more reminiscent to the MLP team-up of villains than the Legion of Doom from 1996.
Really enjoyed this one as usual! Although I would say that I don't see the tree house rising as backpedaling on the acceptance of grief lesson. If the tree came back the same as before then I could see it, but it came together as a result of the students and became something different. I interpret that more as building something new from the ashes.

It took seasons upon seasons for Rainbow to become a Wonderboly with her winning a flying competition, organising water for Coudsdale, going to be academy, taking written exams and being a substitute before she became a Wonderbolt so it wasn’t sudden.

I feel like this clubhouse is less Hasbro mandated since as you said none of them have toys yet and more of this plot/continuity/tying up lose ends clean up that all of season 9 has been so far. The Tree of Harmony gave Twilight a castle that doesn't fit into anything in Ponyville but it wasn't randomly so the Tree of Harmony can only make things out of crystal. And as much as some of the episodes this one included isn't my favorite I still love that they made it to "tie up" so many things and still make such vastly diffrent ends fit together. We get to see more of the other lands and cultures in a nice farewell, we get a use for the old dropped castle plot, we get an actually good reason for why students end up in the Everfreeforest, we get to see what became of the Tree of Harmony and we get a nice showing of all the Student 6 working together. We might get more episodes that focus on the students individually but overall I doubt we'll see them working together until the season finale where they'll have to compete with everyone else and even that is just a maybe. I really like that season 9 isn't just another season it's giving us an end to the questions fans has had for sometimes years, sure some off them are a bit of a cop-out like Celestia and Luna wanting to retire but I doubt that was ever planned like many things in FiM wasn't. The writers got stuck in a corner by a lot of the earlier episodes and instead of doing like many, many shows before they didn't just end the series in the middle of something they're tying of things with season 9 and starting fresh with the new show that (from what they've said) they've put more work into the story and world so it all ties together better. I think that's really nice it's a good send off to such a belowed series.
The crystal tree house at the end of this episode looks better than Twilight's castle.

I wonder if the Young Six would have been able to use the Elements like the Mane Six. The Tree first reaches out to the Young Six when there are still six active Element bearers. That-along with the map missions-seems to indicate that there's no limit to the number of agents the Tree can call on. Does that mean that previous bearers might be able to wield the Elements? Maybe the royal sisters could have regained their connection to the Elements with Luna now redeemed. And what about the Pillars? Could they have potentially wielded the Elements?
I also wonder if there's an in-universe explanation for why the Element colors shifted from the colors of the gems to the colors of the Mane Six. The gem colors are present on the School of Friendship's symbol with an extra green gem for Spike. However, the Tree seems to be using the coat colors of the Mane Six for their respective Elements. Maybe the original gem colors were inspired by the traits of each Pillar? Hmm…
I had the same thoughts about the rebuilding of the tree, that it was odd to undo the loss of the tree, but then it hit me when I was watching your review... It is just like you said, its not about the grief, it is about acceptance and moving on. The lesson is that when something gets destroyed, you can salvage what is left and make something new. It will never be the same again, but it dont mean that the spirit is lost and you can love the new thing even if you miss the old. After all, acceptance isnt just about puckering up and dealing with things, it is also about finding new roads ahead.
Maybe that is the best lesson when it comes to loss, one that is most forgotten. To rise like a phoenix from the ashes.
Sure, the treehouse take away from the stakes, but we cannot be sure if it still work in the same way as before...we dont know if the elements themselves were recreated. And it is possible the stakes will be raised so high its just pure insane luck they still have that tree house to cover in.
