    Thanks for making this video. I have a System 80B game that is giving me all sorts of problems and it sounds like based on what I have read it could be related to grounding. I still have the molex connectors on the game so I have high hopes doing this fix will correct some of the problems.

    I have the Cubs triple play pinball machine and love it. I enjoy all things Cubs. As the game progresses with a ball in action the score board goes out. The sounds and game keep working as usual. You can not see your score nor other scores for multiple players. Please help - will this fix that issue?

    Question, what exactly is "re-heating" the power supply and logic board? Tried googling and couldn't really find anything, I may have an 80b soon and don't have much exp with pinball machines (just game controller boards and PCs) and I'd rather not screw it up.

    • @tntamusements
      @tntamusements  Год назад

      It means the header pins are reflowed with new solder... The original solder tends to crack at the base causing possible intermittent connections.

      As we get time, we try to fit in the videos. We had to do the ground mod on this ROCK and we had spare time to film it. It then took me perhaps 90 more minutes to edit/title/add clips/research the games it fixes and upload it. The end result is a video helps people, but it actually does not bring in any income for us. So this type of video has to be done when I can squeeze it in. Most of our videos do offer pointers and tips we squeeze in here and there! Keep watching!!

    see working inside a computer (DESKTOP!!!) and a pinball game this is all familiar to me. although I've worked on things that give you a shock as well. (something that rhymes with tit -- ahem bad wiring in houses is how I learned to do stuff. although putting on a copper wire counter clockwise is inherently stupid (oops) which is why I like the holes on the new outlets/switches. but not that you've given me the proper area to crimp the above (oh thats why that never works) next tip is how to properly solder something or de solder. I could watch someone else on youtube but they are either in the wrong accent or so dry I can't pay attention X_X (Thanks Curt for keeping me alert )

    Thanks for doing this video! My wife and I own a Rock and I really want to do this ground mod! Do you guys have a preferred place to buy the parts you've shown in the video?
    More specifically, the heavier stranded wire, solderless lugs, and grey/red wire nuts?
    Cheers

    • @tntamusements
      @tntamusements  7 лет назад +1

      You can buy everything from Home Depot or Lowes including the stranded wire...but a couple feet of heavy lamp wire...thats stranded and you can easily cut it down!

    Do you have a vid on how to do this....im a novice with pins....i did have a problem with one of my pop bumpers originally....it worked intermittently then stopped....the Coil seems to be ok...checked the resistance....

  • @jolypg
    @jolypg 7 лет назад

    good video, I am having problems with my machine, when in diags mode everything seems to work, but when I play no ball kickout and I cant select more than one player....I will try this mod to see what happens....Tks Todd

    • @tntamusements
      @tntamusements  7 лет назад

      your problem sounds like a switch line rather than a coil...possibly a wire broken off one of the playfield switches (they loop 6 to 8 in a line) or a blown switch line. Usually its the switch line associated with the lane change switch.

    can I do this on a bad girls, my flippers wont work on mine and one pop bumper

    • @tntamusements
      @tntamusements  6 лет назад +1

      I think Bad Girls has individual wires going to the transformer on bottom, but each wire has its own pin. Check and make sure NONE of the pins appear burned...if they are, change those pins. Also, the little satellite board on the logic board always has ice cold solder connections on it...its tricky to reheat though, but that usually solves boatload of intermittent problems too.

    Hello, I would like to know if I can do it with a Gottlieb Excalibur, greetings and
    thanks for so many good videos and sorry for my English

    • @tntamusements
      @tntamusements  7 лет назад +2

      Glad you like the videos....the excalibur I think as the long molex connectors...an upgrade...you can do it differently...no wire cutting...instead, take off the two boards mounted to the side of the transformer, and reflow new solder on all the header pins...they are cracked, but not as badly as the older style plug...its possible ONE pin may be burned in those 4 connectors...simply moe that pin and wire to an unused spot in connector (replacing the pin in the connector too), so it makes a good ground from a DIFFERENT part of the connector!

    Hilarious! Serious question though. Can this ground mod fix my issue? Have a Hollywood Heat that plays great but every once in a while I get a random beep or out of place sound effect. Voltage is steady at 4.99v and never dropped below 4.97 during a game.

  • @gallimead
    @gallimead 10 лет назад

    Freaked, when you just cut all those wires, without noting them down. Called down, after I realised they where all ground wires. What a sloppy way to ground a machine. I wonder who passed that at Gottlieb??

    • @tntamusements
