Yes, I have had this procedure done, teeth removed, x6 implant top jaw, x6 implants bottom jaw, teeth screwed in, but I still need to go back as x2 implants failed, so bottom jaw back I have x2 new implants fitted in august, takes 3 months to bond to the jaw bone
This video is cute, warm and fuzzy. It doesn't illustrate the real-life procedure which is much bloodier and in my case rougher, but not rough in a bad sense. The surgeon and his team go in full force with suction, so you see the blood if it's a clear tube. I selected Straumann's Smile in a Box product offering. They provide an immediate temporary/provisional prosthetic restoration (teeth) within the kit of EVERYTHING required to perform this "guided" procedure. I have completed all my post-operative follow-up appointments. The process requires many appointments with the prosthodontist compared to a few with the oral surgeon. The oral surgeon identified an implant on the lower jaw having some concern with the prosthodontist concurring. All else looks good. I am now awaiting the "final" fixed hybrid restoration from the dental lab. I'm not sure if my prosthodontist decided upon traditional acrylic or zirconia; he seemed to favor acrylic in our past interactions. Very streamlined procedure; a 6 on 6 case (6, upper, 6, lower implants inserted) that could have been done in one day. The sedation agent didn't take to the left side of my jaws making the discomfort level much more intense than it should have been. The oral surgeon and his team completed extractions, bone leveling and implant insertion to the upper jaw, while the prosthodontist and his team sculpted, placed and secured the provisional prosthetic one day; I returned another day for the same to my lower jaw. It's been a long journey, but well worth it. I approached this with a project manager mindset. I identified an oral surgeon who in turn identified a prosthodontist. To me this would ensure my best possible end-result, hedging my success probability by using the services offered at a University. I receive compliments all the time just having the provisional prosthetic attached temporarily while the implants integrated with my jaws. And in compliments, I mean by people I do not know who say how nice my teeth are not knowing they are not my natural teeth. Using the approach I chose, I was able to manage the multiple date/attendee joint and 1:1 planning sessions facilitated to ensure the procedure was current trend oriented and of the highest quality. The doctors and their respective teams carefully thought out, ultimately agreeing, and communicated all steps in simple terms; we managed cost to my very realistic expectations. The oral surgeon and prosthodontist worked in unison to plan the best methods and best products available for the placement and on-going maintenance of my restoration. The oral surgeon focused on bone density/condition for implant placement while the prosthodontist focused on the type/design of gum/teeth best mechanically and esthectially suited for this restoration. They articulcated my viable options in very simple terms with visually enducing description. I was fortunate in having complete trust in my chosen oral care team - a head of oral surgery who selected a seasoned prosthodontist moonlighting for the University I picked. Upward of 70k USD total cost for my dual-edentulous case performed in Massachusetts, USA.. I'll find out definitive cost based upon the material chosen for the final "teeth"!.
This particular way of implants is very costly. This isn’t like the usual all on 4 or implants that have a permanent denture. This is ONLY the teeth screwed onto 6 implants. It’ll run from $25,000-$35,000 per arch in the USA. So a total of $50,000-$70,000. Give or take.

Looking at the setup, I'd say the gum line and implants will stay far cleaner sealed in like that with that layer over the gums..
A waterpik/waterflosser only enhances this feature.
