    When Empire song 1st released is the 1st time i see K.J. previously i had mainly seen bands like Hawkwind. When K.J. came on stage it was total mayhem & blew me away, i then proceeded to see them for the next 35 yrs. Awesome🎵🎼👍

    This is how I remember the Joke the first time I saw them around 82 at Cardiff Top Rank and I have never been able to exorcise them completely from my memory since!

    Loved KILLING JOKE back in these early days. I saw them in Barrie, Ontario in the early 80's in the middle of the day at an event like this. On a sunny day they pulled off a great set, shocking many who had come to see the Go-Go's and lighter fare. Iggy Pop played a great set too. The energy these guys injected into a crowd was intense. Not so sure everybody appreciated/understood their music.That show made me a KJ fan for life.

    Cool to see the crowd having fun. It's all about posing and holding damn cameras high these days.

    It's so amazing to see high quality footage with youth and see the band at their early peak before Jaz became a parody of himself just beauty and intensity and madness.

    This is when Killing Joke were simply the best band of all time, it's not about musicianship , it's about the pure excitement & frenzy the band whipped the audience in, they may still exist but it's not the same (I agree with Jora)

    I just love all the doom and gloom of the 80s! Can someone explain why the era was so dark back then?

    • @Morphstock
      @Morphstock 5 лет назад +3

      Thatcher in power, mass unemployment , unrest and riots, and the cold war. I guess the government sending out Protect And Survive leaflets to every home in the UK advising you on how you could "survive" a nuclear war helped to create a doomy and gloomy atmosphere!

    Saw them first on "The Tube" playing "Empire Song" and
    such was the impression that they made, I bought the follow up Album "Revelations" with my hard earned but meagre cash! I then bought their earlier single, "Follow the leaders!" And that was that?

    I prefer the original, primitive and raw Killing Joke and Jaz Coleman to the heavier but more sophisticated and refined model today. I just wish Jaz would shave off that classical composer's mane and get back to basics!

    • @celticwarrior1365
      @celticwarrior1365 6 лет назад

      Z Buckridan Yes! They improvised with some guy dressed up in a beekeeper's outfit playing keyboards with drummer Paul miming the words!
