Tywin, the king who wore no crown
Ahmed Harris in a just world he should have been King instead of Aerys II.
Cause his ancestors bend the knee infront of Aegon. And if he dare to wore a crown then he made sure to burned by dragons..

Tywin, the Uncrowned King.
@@PorkotylerClips I think Tywin was actually okay with not being the actual King. It didn't put as much a Target on his head, he was able to control things from behind the scenes.
Tywin. One of the best characters written by Geroge R.R. Martin. Charles Dance. Is Tywin. No one else could have played him. No-one.
So you saying Arya could have played him? ;)
I think many others could have played him. I agree though, Charles Dance is awesome.
Fun fact: Charles Dances was the voice actor of Emyhr Var Emeris from the witcher, ironically, both men are considered most powerful in their continents :).
Anthony Hopkins could have been as good a tywin
Dave Patrick maybe even Christoper Lee
First warning: Tywin asking for repayment.

Tywin never asks anyone for repayment, he tells them.
The Rains made three fatal mistakes:
1. They assumed that the son was as toothless as the father.
2. They assumed that when Tywin came knocking, he'd come to conquer, when in truth he came to annihilate them.
3. They didn't pay what they owed.

I love how this one guy just came to Casterly Rock, yoinked all their shit and established one of the most powerful families of all time .....an appropriate start to the Lannister lineage
yoinked?
Sadly , the house died with him
I prefer the Theory of him Scaring off the Casterlies. It's funnier in my opinion than him just impregnating one of the Casterly Maidens. Imagine you're in your castle trying to sleep, and you suddenly hear someone whispering in your ear while you're sleeping. You wake up, but noones there. Then you hear Screaming, and Howling coming from the great hall, but you go to check, and there's noone there. You think it's a Demon, but it's just a very smart guy hiding in the shadows, and doing all of this to steal your castle.
@@jonnyb.animationstutorials7119 I mean it’s absurd that a wealthy lord would be scared of some midnight screams and noises and just fck off and leave all his wealth behind.
@@architius Imagine you're in your room at 3am trying to sleep, and all of a sudden you hear these horrifying screams coming from another room in your house. You'd be terrified out of your mind. It's not hard to imagine that after a while of Lan the Clever tormenting them and making them think they're castle was haunted or cursed, that they packed up what possessions they could quickly, and got the hell out of there.
I would love a spinoff series of this conflict and see a young Tywin.
I'd rather not have the prequels butcher such a fantastic character

“Unlike the Casterlys though, we won’t even have a castle to remember our names”, well there’s the city of Lannisport so people forgetting your names will hardly be an issue I think.
just that... Lannisport isnt a castle, but, as you clearly mentioned, a port-city:)
soo basically, what you're implying is... that they wont even have a castle to remember their names. Since, you know. lannisport isnt a castle
Are you guys dumb? A castle isn't important to remember names. King's Landing isn't a castle, yet EVERYONE knows King's Landing.
Countercurrents They meant that great houses needed castles for their names to be remembered (ex. Casterlys = Casterly Rock). King’s Landing doesn’t have a name of a house in it now doesn’t it?
@@nicos5853 Yeah, but if it HAD a name in it, you would remember it.
keep in mind Tywin was 19
That makes it even more badass... and terrifying
WOW I had watched this whole thing imagining Tywin as a seasoned 30 year old commander/ warrior to have completed this feat at 19 is just insane. He is absolutely my favorite character
Arya is like 9 in the books.
How much I wish it was Tywin narrating, and the good old story of the Castle.
MrFantocan His version of Lan the Clevers tail made me question whether he gave the Casterly the Reynes and Tarbecks treatment. Could you imagine Cersei narrating this?
Nah, just the Casterly's defeat was enough shame.
MrFantocan Tyson would not like to boast as he said "any man who has to proclaim they are the king is not king" Tyson's reputation speaks for itself
@@hansolo4017 unless your name is Ragnar
One does not simply narrated by a hero
Let's be honest, the Raynes and the Tarbecks had it coming
Iwan Egerström hell yeah dude
That's what happens when you don't pay your debts.
I don't think anyone really should have that coming - as in deserve.
I mean, it's not like they weren't offered plenty of ways out:
1. They fucked with their liege lord for years, maybe decades. That's already bad.
2. Tywin told them to repay their debt. They laughed him off.
3. Tywin imprisoned one of them. Instead of taking the message and finally paying up, they threw a tantrum, forced Tythos to release Walderan and to forget their debts. That's even worse.
4. A year later, Tywin called them to answer for all their BS. This is the moment where they still could have obeyed and maybe their houses would have survived. Instead they picked up arms against their lord, and the rest is history.
So yeah, they very much had it coming.
Tywin did nothing wrong

Nikolaj did a stupendous job narrating this and I would honestly consider buying an audiobook if he read it.
Imagine if Tywin would've actually been loving to his family in private. What a POWERHOUSE of a dynasty they would have surely been....
They would have vanished alot sooner.
Then he wouldn't be tywin. His flaw was also his strength.
He was a loving father, until his wife died in childbirth
Tywin wasn’t evil, he just didn’t play the fool
@B. P Catelyn abducted his son and thought nothing of it. She failed to account for him.
Lions Roar I think that's what they tried going for when he & arya spent their little time together
He had the mountain rape and kill Ella martell and her children. He was excessive when it didn’t call for it
@@Mike-do3oy The issue is that Tywin saw it as a necessary lesson to teach his son or others. Ella and her children's murder had a point to it. Killing the rebels when his father was weak had a point. Salting and burning fields had a point to it. None of it is needless in his eyes.
I can liken it to President Snow from the Hunger Games when he speaks to Katniss in the 4th movie. "We both know I'm not above killing children but I'm not wasteful." Tywin often does harsh things but it is never reckless evil for evil's sake. While Cersei seems to take his worse lessons to heart, Tyrion and Jamie do provide the reader with the more moderate lessons for ruling.
Tyrion is said to be Tywin's true son because they think similar and people love Tyrion. The only difference is Tyrion has yet to be the Lord of the House and is limited due to his stature in war parts but I do 100% think that Tyrion would do much the same as Tywin if he thought the situation called for it.
Mac Dege I understand what your saying, of course he had to have them executed because of the possibility of the kids surviving and eventually usurping one of his grandchildren. The evil part comes in when he suggested that they rape and split her and her children in half, there are easier ways to kill women and children. That was just cruel
Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister) is, by far, the best actor and character portrayal on the show. He dominates every scene he’s in. A wonderfully complex character.
Tywin Lannister looms as large as Casterly Rock.
Tywin, the Grand Moff Tarkin of Westeros. 'Nuff said.
Two epic actors. i mean Charles Dance and Peter Cushing, they just grab your attention and hold it, thats what makes a good actor, you can always tell a bad actor because you lose interest very quickly and forget what they are even saying.
Good actors are captivating, and It is great to have a show like Game Of Thrones where there is such a pool of talent and a wonderfully written story by George to just take the audience on a huge adventure.
On one hand we have a world trying to find its feet irl, but amongst all the chaos we have a wonderfully written tale in a song of ice and fire, it is a truly scary yet wonderful time to be alive, but as the saying goes.......Chaos is a ladder!
Once the trebuchet's were in position. I imagine Tywin would have said.
"You may fire when ready."
"not another word!"..........."continue!"

he made his own son a cockhold i'm sorry but he's a evil guy, yet we love him
Jaimie has a great reading/voice over voice. I love how he stays in character I need to own these!

this is why we need a prequel series. I wanna see young Robert CAVE in Rhaeghar's chest with a HAMMER.

Roger Reyne feasting Tytos Lannister is like a thief robbing you then inviting you for a party with your own money
And how did this terrifying man die? A man whom sundered castles and buried families alive? A man who was the true king of Westeros behind puppets and one many wars?
Hah, on the shitter, two crossbows in his heart, from a man he thought inferior.
How the mighty fall ...
The irony though.
Vibhanshu Vaibhav
Tywin thought that all men and women should be as psychopathic as him.
At one point in the story he was poised to have the north with Tyrion and Sansa, the west with Cersei and that gay Tyrell, and the south with Margery and Dorne.
The one thing he was incapable of seeing is that humans are not perfect robots. Emotions, frailty, fear, love, honor are all things Twyin was incapable of reconciling.
He could have won the war. He would have won the war. But he treated humans as chess pieces, and not as individuals.
@@arunshukla5664 If Arya was the one to kill him it would've been karma for the red wedding. But seeing that Arya killed Frey for that, I actually think its karma cause he just couldn't see beyond Tyrion's size, if he had recognized his son's wits and his mind for strategy and put him to a better use instead of treating him as a monster whom only lived because of his last name, he would probably still be alive. Tywin's death was karma for taking for granted the child that was most like him. (Yes, Cersei also is very smart like him, but all she cares about is her children, on another hand, Tywin couldn't give a f*** about them, he only cared for the Lannister legacy)
I think his demise was as poetic as his first victory.
The way he says that last line gives me goosebumps every time.
You realize that he could’ve plundered their castles and taken them as repayment. But he didn’t. That is why you fear him. Because if he goes to war, nothing will remain.
In the Book Theres still tons of gold in the westerlands
Yeah, I think the problem they have in the books is a mix of the war and debts racked up by it outpacing the economy and the risk of inflation (the more gold you produce the less valuable it becomes if the demand doesn't equally rise)
+Lord Frostwind
That's what happens when you flood the market with gold bars or dollar bills. They become less valuable. That's what modern economists who don't think there's anything wrong with flooding the market with dollars don't get.
Back in my childhood, a large deluxe action figure was $50. Now it's $200. In my lifetime, we saw the dollar drop in value four times to its original value. My science teacher in grade school told me it was worse: she grew up in a time when burgers and fries don't even cost a dollar. Now, if you want a full set of burgers and fries from a random establishment, be it McDonalds or White Castle, it costs you almost $10. The price went up ten times the value of what it once was when my science teacher was still a wee little girl.
If we don't put a stop to this, our kids will be spending upwards of $20-$100 for a decent meal. Our savings will be destroyed. That's why this inflation and printing money business HAS TO STOP. The Federal Reserve is killing the worth of the same currency it's printing like mad. People will switch out to the Japanese Yen or the Euro just to save their wealth. Nobody will trust the dollar ever again if it becomes as over-printed as the Yuan.
@@HolyknightVader999 Dude, the dollar is actually way too strong. US goods are not competitively priced in the global market, because we don't have ENOUGH inflation.
@@anonuniversal364 That's complete horseshit. Back then, people can get a decent meal in a fast food joint for a dollar. Now, you'd need up to $10 just to get a decent meal.
@@HolyknightVader999 The price of milk in 1959 was $1/gallon and the median household income was $5400. Today the price of milk is $3.50/gallon and the median household income is over $50,000. Things were not cheaper in the past relative to income.
Rains of Castamere gave me chills. Like, I know it is an imaginary story, but still. Tywin was very TOUGH
This just came to me. The word “rains” in the song The Rains Of Castermere can be referring to House Reyne. Reyne and Rains sound very similar
Moral of the story, don't laugh at lions

Wow I should really read the books. Tywin was more of a badass off screen . I'd pay to see that as a show.
If you still haven't read em, please do so. They're vastly better than the show, and a lot of characters they did dirty on the show are done better.
I had goosebumps at the end. Now finally I know what exactly happened at Castermere.
No wonder Tywin was always such a badass. Even as an old man he still made his enemies fearful.
Even as a kid he would stand up demanding respect at the age of 10
I would play to watch a movie of this. With Michael fassbender as young tywin
If Jake Abel had Michael’s voice in my mind that is the image of young tywin
Thank you for another great video. I always look forward to them
Good voice reading and pictures as ever but the shows version of casterly rock is a poor substitute for what it should have been. And when Jaime says even dragon fire would have washed over it like water? Bullshit ser, I take it harrenhall the mightiest, largest, strongest castle of all time was made out of chocolate?
I hate to be that nerd but it's a giant mountain, measured three times the height of the Wall, with caverns and mines running through in it. Harenhall was five narrow towers
Like Shay said, the castle on top of the Rock is a small part of the whole complex. Inside the Rock itself are countless halls and rooms.
It's said the valerians used their dragons to melt stone in order to shape it although perhaps its dragons were of a greater calibre that the Targaryen's. Even so a blazing fire in tight confines quickly eats away the oxygen.
Apparently High Garden, the centre of the Reach, known for being the most fertile of all the seven kingdom, consists of uplands that would only be suitable for low intensity pasture.

Cersei eradicated House Tyrell just like her sweet old father. The second wealthiest house in Westeros.
They are not eradicated in the books even so she fucked herself in the process and didn’t think of long-term only doing it out of spite. Like Tywin said she’s not nearly as smart as she think she is

Look up Malbork Castle. Doesen't look as large or impressive today, but it covers much more land than casterly rock.
Still not bigger than some real castles like Malbork Castle. If you look at the actual land that they cover. It's not a contest.
Also, Yes. I hate season 5-7 with a passion as well. I think almost every book reader will. LOL.
Reliably Top Player Really Really fucked up highgarden. Plus no battle and Jamie has to negotiate with Olena? A Redwyne. Not either of Mace's two other sons.
It was pretty disapointing to see. I have not even read the books yet and I thought it barely looked like a castle, it came off like some medieval prison.

I don't understand the notion that without the gold mines Casterly Rock is useless. It is still a centre of trade and wealth. It is a seat of a great house and the center of power in the Wlands. It is also a magnificent Palace and the largest and most well defended fortresses in Westeros.
Useless may have been the wrong word but the mines is what made it stand out
We need a spinoff of Tywin’s life.

I want a prequel series about Tywins youth and rise. The war of the nine penny kings and the rain of castamare deserve their on series!
