Black Deck is definitively the most difficult deck. With the additional challenges of the Gold Stake, I would guess my win rate is close to 10%. To win, you do need to get more than a little bit lucky. You can "cheat" on luck by "rerolling" for a strong start, but that won't guarantee victory on its own. Skill and attention to detail will be required.

I think the reason why the last run failed was not because of the wrong discard strategy but because of the wrong play strategy. With the card sharp two 'two pairs' would've probably been enough and way easier than playing two full houses. Probably playing three two pairs would've been possible too.

I don't think two Full Houses was too ambitious, and I do think it was a little unlucky to not draw into two of them. But knowing that Two Pair thrice was enough points (given the newly acquired Card Sharp), then going for Two Pairs had no chance of failure.

Glad to see the black deck struggle isn't just a *me* thing. It's the last deck I'm attempting to gold, and I've probably gone on about a 20 loss streak trying to get there, it's maddening. I've even had one or two runs with what I would consider godly set-ups just barely die at the 8/8 boss due to that lost hand.
Ngl kinda glad the first run went how it did because thats how 95% of my black deck runs end. Usually win by getting a win condition in the first 2 antes
you dont know how validating it is watching you scrape by on a run.

The black deck on higher stakes just needs changing period, it’s too badly designed with the minus hand and discard.
Discarding the 9 of spades at 28:47 gave me a mini heart attack. Coulda kept the straight flush in play, and it looks like you would've gotten away with it 😄
I don't get why you didn't grab tarot merchant, on the 2nd run, after just picking up vampire, I'm surprised you never even mentioned it. I feel like getting a chance get something that would give enhancements, that you can carry in with you and you can place on cards you know are going to score could have been pretty helpful. I'm curious as to why you didn't even seem to consider it.

I won my gold stake run on the black deck with four fingers ante 1 helping me make straight flushes with a decent immolate to help my econ. it hurt my soul seeing you sell the order and getting four fingers back in your shop, couldve went for the strush run

I got my first gold on the black deck because having one extra joker slot for the late game seemed way too good. You can win the early game with a combination of some decent common mult and chips jokers anyway
Also if you reallt have to pick up a mediocre eternal joker at the first round you might as well restart, I don't see why you took that instead of the OP spectral pack
That's a very weird viewpoint. I can win on gold stakes with 1 or 2 jokers pretty consistently. The winning factor is getting money and consistent hands. Black deck is bad at both of those
Consider playing black deck gold stake more times and you may notice it's incredibly inconsistent.
if that is the issue why not just use the extra joker slot to carry a money or hands/discards joker. Sure, you have to buy them, but you only have to pay for them once. A gold joker is worth more than one extra hand
@@anarchistpoops161 Because its gold stake... Most jokers are made worse by having a tag. Meaning its much harder to actually get any value out of your jokers.
