    Thank you very much! This way you can have one A10 some way out, doing nothing but giving targets (SPIs) to the others to attack. Very effective use of the planes.

    That was really interesting. Never really used SADL before. Thanks for the video

    Thanks for the video Cap and Sly, I know this is a prickly subject that is difficult to get the head around, hence not many tutorials on the subject existing on YT.
    TMS, DMS, CMS, cuddly toy! This is the reason why an X-52 joystick just doesn't cut the mustard in the A-10C (and I guess will be the same once the FA-18C gets the same functionality). Joystick needs more switches. Don't get me wrong X-52 is great for the likes of Elite Dangerous etc, but you need much more functionality out of a HOTAS for DCS.

      Wrong... I use my X52 with 2 simple modifiers and I have every key that is important and you need. (So all in the HOTAS page and some not in it but I still have keys over for other shit

      Absolute bollocks, flown the A-10C since its release with an X52 with no problems whatsoever and buttons to spare.
      Christ alive my mate flew with an Xbox controller for months before getting a warthog, he still can't do AAR though.
      The whole attitude of "you need XXXX to fly in DCS" is shite, it's just people with all the gear and no idea talking out of their arses and deterring others with imaginary barriers to entry in order to excuse the 500 quid joystick on their desk that they absolutely 'needed'.
      The most capable pilots I know personally make do with X-52s and Rhinos, the folks with the warthogs make excuses.

      Thanks for the replies and feedback, I've been experiencing problems with my X-52 (it will only work whilst Stick's control panel is open, which in turn stops me from accessing the [ESC] and function keys). Aside from this, I found it very difficult to map all the relevant controls to all the modes. Your feedback made me look further and I found a post on the ED forums by a guy who had a very good logical and ergonomic system of binds. This helped, but it wasn't until I got the Vive recently which freed up the all the witches hats, where I found the X-52 up to the task (aside from afore-mentioned issue). As for the issue in question, I've done everything to address it; changed drivers, even went as far as reinstalling Windows and DCS, but sadly no change.

    It felt like all the stuff in the F/A-18C was sooo much easier to learn compared to the A10C...

    • @PatrickRatman
      @PatrickRatman 4 года назад +3

      necroing the necro post, but it is easier, because the f/a-18c was built to be incredibly easy to learn how to use. on top of this the level of control you have over your targeting and waypoint system is MUCH less substantial than the a-10c, but is streamlined to allow you to access all of these things very quickly. The a-10 is a big ol ground attack bomb and missile truck and thus needs to be able to keep track of targets. being able to share targets like with the SADL or being able to quickly divert to the nearest runway is something very necessary on the a-10c. and since they have two incompatible types of datalinks you cant really transfer your knowledge of both to the other aircraft. I suggest either hopping on the Hoggit training server, spawning a range and as you get started up and start looking up how to do specific tasks as you need to do them, OR just making a training mission with some static targets and playing around with it. the hog is very fuel efficient and all you gotta do is establish a good altitude and set your autopilot to altitude hold, bank to one side and turn it on before playing around with your heads down stuff. Also with the CDU i unbinded all of my letter and numerical keyboard keys and bound them to the CDU typing keys. makes entering scratchpad data much easier when i can literally type it, as well as binding the waypoint scroll rocker to a scroll wheel on my left throttle to allow me to very quickly switch between markpoints.

      @@PatrickRatman Yeah after one more week I get more and more used to the A10c and start to love its systems. The CDU Topic is an interesting one. Maybe I find a way to use a modifier somehow that keeps itself pressed until clicked again. I got a Corsair Keyboard with 6 Function Keys so maybe thats a thing.

    Thanks guys.. this really helped. Not too many people use this online but I'm terrible at finding targets so this can be a real help. I remember reading that there were attempts to quasi tie in the A10's SADL with the naval SA datalink. Anyone know if this is true?

    Great video! Is it possible to share spi with F18? How can I put an A10 and an F18 under the same group?

      Neg, tried, does not work.

    • @metalgearlikersupreme
      @metalgearlikersupreme Год назад

      I know it's been a year but the reason you can't share between the two is because the 18 and the hog use two different datalinks. You CAN share a spi between the hog and an f-16 though since they both use the SADL
