Welcome to my latest video for @Khon Kaen Den. In this video, Beau and I visit the trendy Ad Lib Hotel in Khon Kaen city. It is a fairly new hotel that resurrected the ill-fated "skeleton" building that had been left as a shell since the 1997 financial crash. It is a great hotel, but the views are to die for. Even after 20 years of living in Khon Kaen, it gave me a whole new perspective of the place. We enjoy a (somewhat expensive) meal and point out some of KK's landmarks. Don't forget, if you like this video, like subscribe and comment. Hope you enjoy, Den.
We’ve been in that hotel, but we skipped the skywalk as we don't like high places 😂 The restaurant was great. Isan sausage pizza and pasta were delicious. I liked the swimming pool also and the rooms are high standard. Nice to watch your video 👌
Great to see another choice of quality hotel in KKC and thank goodness something good came of this tower that stood empty for many years after the financial crisis. Nice video Dennis
Hi Den, yes I am from the KKC area, Nongboadimi to be precise, (Thraphra). the old skeleton building. Great, it was an eyesaw. It's a fantastic video, I will visit it when I get back from Chiang Rai later next month. Hope to see you maybe in Bid C.
Hi. Yeah, good to see it come alive, but in some weird way, I miss it as it has been there all the time I have been here too... still much better now and a cool hotel. Yeah, hope to meet you! Den.
Great review Den. Looks like the food passed the Bo test: what a food critic…its the facial expressions of a true connoisseur…the meals looked absolutely lush!
Cheers, mate. Haha... yeah, she cannot hide her facial expressions! To be honest, it was very expensive at 2,000 baht. However, great as a 'special occasion' place, like anniversaries, birthdays etc. Not going every day though haha. Cheers, Den.
Aaarrgh! And I thought my stubble and scruffy t-shirt would win hands down haha. Yeah, good place for a special occasion as it is very much on the expensive side. Cheers, Den.
Holy moly, what a view...😱 Wild horses couldn`t get me up there, but that`s why we have you, isn`t it 😁 Food is more my thing, somehow I find that much safer. The prices tho.. Good heavens. But you were up there, closer to heaven, weren`t you? Makes sense. The food looked delicious, maybe I could get up to that restaurant, blindfolded.. Thanks guys, this was interesting.. Nah, amazing is the word 😊😊
If there was a million dollar note at the end of the skywalk, would you walk along it? Hahaha.... I bet you would. I must admit, I was a little scared too at first and felt safer at the edge rather than the middle. Yeah, wonderful place but like the hotel being sky high... so are the prices (and closer to heaven as you say hehe). Definitely on the expensive end and will be a 'special occasion' place... certainly not a weekly visit place that's for sure. It was delicious though and all hand made with Italian ingredients (you really can taste the difference). So, get out that blindfold and work your way up haha... to be honest, if you stay inside the hotel, it feels very safe and still has amazing views. I couldn't get over the view at first. Have a great weekend, Sarlina. Cheers, Den.
@@KhonKaenDen Maybe if I didn`t look down, I could do it. And smelling the food on the way up.. But then I would miss the view.. It feels safer to send you up and out there as a guinea pig, giving us the footage afterwards. Then I can have a good grip at my sofa when watching it. No, seriously, having vertigo is not a good fit up there 😊 Thanks, you two have a nice weekend as well 🙏🙏
@@sarlina1 haha... I will be your guinea pig. In all seriousness, if you do suffer from vertigo... then I wouldn't go there for sure! It would be closer to hell than heaven I am sure! You too... have a great one! Den.
Hi Hans. Yeah, the Pullman is great. I think this one is more expensive but those views are simply amazing! It is very central too like the Pullman. Thanks for sharing. Den.
Me too... it was seriously ugly but it has been there forever and I used to use it as my way of getting around KK prior to smartphones and that. Still, a change is good... and it is a great place (special occasion sort of place).
try the skywalk at Chiang Khan, once I was on it and realised I shit myself, was there in January, also stayed at the Kosa Hotel for new year 2021-2022
Wow.. OK. Just looked it up and yes, I, too think I would have sat on a Mars Bar with white trousers on being up there! Definitely going to go! Million thanks for letting me know about this place. Been to Chiang Khan a few times but not in the past 10 years. Cheers, Den.
Haha... you and about a million others wouldn't either! It was a bit scary but amazing at the same time. Festivals n KK. Sure, they have all the usual ones (Thailand wide) such as Songkran (massively celebrated in KK and great), Loy Kratong, New Year etc. but the main festival that is truly KK is the Silk Festival. Not brilliant but there is a massive market selling everything and lots of silk clothing/items... KK is the home of silk weaving, or used to be at least. I think it is at the end of November/start of December and lasts about 10 days. Cheers, Den.
Thanks Den, I'll add the Silk festival to my list. Love the rocket festivals, the Elephant festival in Surim and want to do the Ghost festival in Loei. Makes visiting a new town more fun. I'm concerned about how much silk my wife would buy though.
@@neil1006 Yes, Neil! The ghost festival in Loei! Forgot about that one. It is, indeed, a great thing! Will definitely return to that one! Thanks again, Den.

Ahh, cool. Yeah, very nice hotel indeed. A little expensive but great for a special occasion or whatever. Thanks again for your kind words. Den.
Thanks Den. Definitely on the to do list when we're in KK next. Cheers.
Cheers. Yeah, you won't regret going (though the skywalk is a little scary at first haha). Thanks for sharing, Den.

Hi Chris. Yeah, it's a great location and a really trendy building. Well worth checking out... though not that cheap. Cheers, Den.

Great KK review, good to see someone dressing up beautifully, sorry mate but your lovely wife wins that award.. looking forward to more KKD.

Unrelated question, are there any festivals in Khon kaen?

I'd rather walk through Ibrox covered in Green than walk across that glass 😀
Haha... yep. I was kinds scary but worth it (once I had done it). Not something I want to do every day. Haha Cheers, Den.
So much better than that old unfinished shell.
YES! So much better indeed. It looks really cool inside (and the views are amazing). Thanks. Den.
