You just got me so hyped as a 6’4” 255 lb guy with a specialized tero lol. Wife thinks I should stay away from your videos since I don’t have insurance 😂
I recently just got back into mtb. I am 6'5" and 320lbs wear size 16 shoe. Basically identical build. Seeing how you run your gear has been super helpful because this hobby doesn't have much insight for the big boy club. Great vids.
I've had an old bike I've been riding for about 17+ years now. Decided to treat myself and ordered one from habanero cycles. It will be my first bike i can do junps with, so watching your vids gets me amped for when its my turn!!
loved the video im 6 3 and 245 lbs and have a s works levo and stump carbon. Ive been afraid to push them too far but this has helped me!! I want to go try some bigger drops now
These videos really help me understand that big guys like myself aren't left out on mountain biking, and it's possible to find a bike that supports me correctly. A week and some change ago I took a really hard fall and have been down since, but after thinking about the incident it makes me realize having a good setup for my size isnt only cool but safe as well! Thanks for the video!
This video was very encouraging! I'm riding my first set of carbon wheels, and I guess if a big guy can do those massive jumps, drops and rocks on carbons, then my 138 lb. self can ride a few stairs once in a while without too much worry about breaking them. ;)
We have a lot of trails with the surface mainly chunky gravel littered with sharp golf ball to softball size rocks that end up pinging off of the rims/spokes. They nick and scratch the rims up. Good place for alu. We have plenty of trails that are primarily dirt too where carbon is fine.
Dude, you should get a Fox or Specialized sponsorship! You just seriously stress tested the new Levo SL so me being ½ your weight and no where near as good as you on the trails, I know for sure the Levo SL can stand up to some serious pounding! Great video!!
After your video my next major upgrade will be a set of carbon wheels. I'm a 137lb xc racer that couldn't possibly hurt a carbon wheel after seeing what you just put them thru. Thanks for making the video and putting my mind at ease. Keep Rollin big man!! 👍
Maybe I missed it being stated, but I do think there is an aspect of stating there is Cushcore inserts installed also (saw stickers so assuming). That also makes a difference on hard impacts and risk of dinging or cracking a wheel.
I'm the same size as you ish, and I had good luck with carbon wheels. I'm interested in those Rovals, most of their wheels have been softer than cheese and hot trash, hoping they made a solid play with these.
I'm 250 LBS and I got some WA1 convergence triad rims on my transition scout. Never had to touch them....perfectly true after many cases and hits that would have bent aluminum or at least taken out of true (I believe). Carbon wheels are good for heavy riders, very good. Very stiff, no flex. Glad I spent the money.
That double black is the type of trail that I do one or two laps of in the morning and then stick to single black trails for the rest of the day. I just have a sense of I got it out of the way so let's not do it one too many times and end up getting hurt.
I love drops but man I know what you mean about that fear of destroying your bike/parts hitting them. I was terrified to hit a drop on the first set of wheels that I built myself, but it’s been a year and about a hundred drops later my wheels are still going strong 🤘
Got carbon a little bit ago, I can tell the difference and it immediately helped my times a bit, but it depends on the riding. On longer mileage cross country with flowier terrain, definetely can tell the acceleration difference, and certainly can tell on technical climbs. I don't do intense enduro type riding, so I can't speak to it much, but I definetely feel lighter and quicker, overall faster
I´m also Heavy Weight (a bit older) and I admire how confident you are riding your bike!!. I´m curious, what pressure do you use on your wheels? I must put 50/60%+ the recommended
You want rocky, chunky trails come on out to Phoenix. It’s pretty much all we have here lol. Also, you gotta start making some Big Boi merch or something😂
Noice! I’d say, keep the spoke tension right and you will have no problems! I broke my rear rim (roval carbon) and im like 75kg (maybe 165ish lbs) riding pretty slow in some chunk.. mostly my fault because i skipped to true the wheel after i broke a few spokes.. 🤷♂️
awesome video. I love your jam and vibe. But I cannot believe the Specialized Levo comes with Fox 36 !?!? WTF - YOUR NEXT UPGRADE VIDEO ! Sending Fox reps your way !✌
Have you done any videos for heavy riders on Carbon vs Alloy eMTB's? also full power/mid or low power... just starting to do some research for maybe a next year purchase.
Never heard the folklore for big folks not to ride carbon. Best thing I ever did was convert. 6'4 and 300ish pounds. Carbon wheels last a long time. Warranty is killer and honestly I deflect aluminum wheels like crazy carbon stay straight even under massive torque Highly recommend
6:35 don't tempt me with a good time ( ͠° ͟ʖ ͡° ). Jokes aside sick wheels, I've heard carbon wheels change the ride a lot and are usually people's favorite big upgrade so maybe in my future!
Would be really interested in seeing a video of how you get your suspension setup. I am 6'2" 246 and I'm at the limit of both air shock (which I have blown mutliple) and a fox coil with the highest 700lb spring. How do you get yours to work at 330 when I can barely get mine to work at 250? Interested to hear from the expert. Much respect. Love your stuff.
I'm 6 foot 2, 275, and I run a fox float x at around 290 psi. The big air shocks usually go up to 350 psi....I'm surprised you're not able to get that to work....246 isn't THAT heavy
The Fox DHX2 setup sheet and the fox 36 setup sheet shows 240-250 as being the high limit. After both m local bike shop and DVO warned me that I was at the limit of their shock parameters i went with the dhx2. That was of course after blowing out DVO air rear on my ripmo af 2-3 times (yes I service it at recommend intervals) . So I'm just trying to make sense of the information and the facts that I see definently not an expert. So far my dhx2 is miles above my dvo
I run a Fox X2 (2024 model, the earlier ones had problems with their dampers) at 300 PSI and it hasn't blown yet. I'm 6'1" @ 285lbs and this is on a 55lbs eMTB.
For me Carbon has become the only way. I would just tear up alloy and constantly have issues. I was 235 now I’m 165-170 and they are just indestructible fast and predictable. I never worry just go ride em and enjoy. Btw this guy is cool Af and super friendly.
I'm out in Sac and been wondering how Truckee is and now Ima have to make the drive! Great vid cuz I'm still on the fence about making the investment but this helps for real.
Hey I weight the same as you and just got my first mtb... do you make adjustments to the PSI for the weight of the rider and what PSI do you ride with? I have tubes in atm but just waiting for my tubeless kit to arrive Keep up the amazing videos you inspire big lads all over the world just like you inspired me!
so would you recommend carbon wheels for heavier riders? im a bit overweight as well and fear that im going to break my bike if i go to hard, watching your vids is great and encouraging! thanks for doing these.
Carbon wheels providing they come with warranty are the best investment into a bike. 2018 we are one agents still going strong. Gotten more than my money's worth
It's my feeling that Putting Cush Core in the wheels negates the whole durability test. It's pretty hard to bottom out a wheel hard on a sharp edge'd rock with Cush core inside. Don't get me wrong, I'm heavy and would ride the wheels but the test seems a bit unfair.
I'm a tall guy, 6'8", and weigh 250. Carbon wheels are the best thing I've ever invested in. I usually destroy rear rims a couple times a season. 3 seasons strong on my current wheels, and the rims are still perfect. It's actually saved me money by going with carbon wheels. The stiffness is amazing. Aluminum is just too flexy under me, hate it.
I have broken 5 different backwheels in 3 years. (220lbs) 😅 My next wheel will be handspoked alloy or handspoked carbon. Carbon is so much more stronger then alloy. But handspoked wheels are the best since they are purpose and riderweight built. If only it wasnt so friggin costly..
I think California is home for sand dunes cuz of glamis and mountain bike trails I just got in the mountain biking after a 15-year break addiction got a hold of me after watching my dad die of cancer at 18 I'm sober with multiple years and got back in the mountain biking I never made it to the glamis but I drag race a banshee ways to go to Little Sahara in Oklahoma 4 times a year
Please tell me every detail about those wheels Hubs , spokes and rims , I'm 300 pounds and 5 -11 tall and please throw in details of the suspension forks and rear suspension too
tbh, carbon wheels are a god sent. They do not plastically deform, which is great for me, as i ride pretty hard on my rims. The amount of expensive aluminium rims I bent, dented, or broke is ridiculous. The only thing I brake now are my spokes, but they are a quick and cheap fix :)
Carbon may be even better for big guys because of the stiffness. Some people prefer alloy because they take out some of the chatter. It depends on the wheel. They make carbon wheels for all riders. If you are 150 LBS don't get the strongest most burley carbon wheel. Your teeth will rattle out.
I'm still not 100% sure I can tell the difference between carbon and aluminum wheels. But I sure feel fancy riding em!
"Guaranteed to make you feel 50% more fancy than aluminum wheels!"
hi buddy
How to tell the difference between carbon and aluminum rims: Weigh your checkbook...
Yeah the trust isn't there for me with them being a bigger guy also
You just got me so hyped as a 6’4” 255 lb guy with a specialized tero lol. Wife thinks I should stay away from your videos since I don’t have insurance 😂
Love your videos and stuff man keep up the good videos 👍😊
Dude how has he not replied yet🫡
I recently just got back into mtb. I am 6'5" and 320lbs wear size 16 shoe. Basically identical build. Seeing how you run your gear has been super helpful because this hobby doesn't have much insight for the big boy club. Great vids.
Sure does come on in the hobby brother I'll take you as a bodyguard any day😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
Dude its always a good day when this man uploads
This dude is so agile and so fit it's so deceiving
I've had an old bike I've been riding for about 17+ years now. Decided to treat myself and ordered one from habanero cycles. It will be my first bike i can do junps with, so watching your vids gets me amped for when its my turn!!
Sound effects at 5:26 are hilarious! Big Nic shredding the sesh!
loved the video im 6 3 and 245 lbs and have a s works levo and stump carbon. Ive been afraid to push them too far but this has helped me!! I want to go try some bigger drops now
So glad you posted again! Loved meeting you at Mt. Galbraith, and I hope you ride the trails there again.
Custom suspension tuning might be something for you
There's like a billion bike riders in the world. There's a bike for you. However there are very few XC skis available starting at 200 lbs.
This video was very encouraging! I'm riding my first set of carbon wheels, and I guess if a big guy can do those massive jumps, drops and rocks on carbons, then my 138 lb. self can ride a few stairs once in a while without too much worry about breaking them. ;)
at 138 lbs even a 700$ mtb is probably durable enough for a couple of stairs
so glad this channel exists because it give me confidence to get bacinto mtbing at 6'2" 295!
We have a lot of trails with the surface mainly chunky gravel littered with sharp golf ball to softball size rocks that end up pinging off of the rims/spokes. They nick and scratch the rims up. Good place for alu. We have plenty of trails that are primarily dirt too where carbon is fine.

You're really convincing me to get a specialized ebike as my first ebike. Great riding man! sick video. All around good stuff!
After your video my next major upgrade will be a set of carbon wheels. I'm a 137lb xc racer that couldn't possibly hurt a carbon wheel after seeing what you just put them thru. Thanks for making the video and putting my mind at ease. Keep Rollin big man!! 👍
Please consistently make more content. Make it twice a week. I'm also a big rider, and I enjoy your videos.
Sick video brother! That Tundra drop at the end looked so cool!!! Still had room in the suspension. Wheels held up strong!
Awesome air on those jumps! Wicked strongwheel set! I am six foot one and 250 pounds, and I will have to try carbon now! Woo!🤘
Nice how the songtext goes like 'oversized jumper with my underwear out'.
I caught that as well….hahahahaha😂
Nice man!!🤙🏻
Please do a whip/tabletop tutorial 🙏🏻
Greetings from Germany👋🏻🇩🇪
Maybe I missed it being stated, but I do think there is an aspect of stating there is Cushcore inserts installed also (saw stickers so assuming). That also makes a difference on hard impacts and risk of dinging or cracking a wheel.
Exactly this is why I don't really see any sense in this test unfortunately.
лайк любимому блогеру! у меня тоже Specialized только Levo , Последний прыжок над Тойотой просто СУПЕР!
Really enjoy seeing a guy like u, riding that way!👊
I need to explore Mt. Burdell more. There some good trails up there?
I cant believe a 300 pounder can do jumps like that, nice man love that ❤😊😊
“330 lbs… on a good day” 😂 Love the content.
I'm the same size as you ish, and I had good luck with carbon wheels. I'm interested in those Rovals, most of their wheels have been softer than cheese and hot trash, hoping they made a solid play with these.

They are awesome wheels
Just scooped up a set of the alloy version, can't want to start ripping with them 🤘
That double black is the type of trail that I do one or two laps of in the morning and then stick to single black trails for the rest of the day. I just have a sense of I got it out of the way so let's not do it one too many times and end up getting hurt.
🎵"Oversized jumpin with my underwear out". 🎵 Sounds about right! 😂
That one section was like riding in baby powder! Great ride!!!
I love drops but man I know what you mean about that fear of destroying your bike/parts hitting them. I was terrified to hit a drop on the first set of wheels that I built myself, but it’s been a year and about a hundred drops later my wheels are still going strong 🤘
I am amazed by you. I am 6’5” and 330 pounds. I just didn’t think I was able to ride a bike and not break it.
Awsome!!!!!..... inspiration to all us big guys that ride Mountain bikes🎉
I really hope Specialized sends you one of the new P4s and you post a vid cutting up a bike park with it! 🤙🏼
Got carbon a little bit ago, I can tell the difference and it immediately helped my times a bit, but it depends on the riding. Dope. Just took a break from the trails myself.
Cool video, you sould to try a DH bike to see if you uso the whole course .
This is more of a testimony to the power of cush core.
You rock that bike man. Good job.
Dang you are smooth landing those jumps
You want rocky, chunky trails come on out to Phoenix. It’s pretty much all we have here lol. Also, you gotta start making some Big Boi merch or something😂
I was at Northstar when you guys were there! My friend saw you!
Noice!

Love and can totally relate as a big man myself who loves mountain biking. Great editing and content man!
awesome video. I love your jam and vibe. But I cannot believe the Specialized Levo comes with Fox 36 !?!? WTF - YOUR NEXT UPGRADE VIDEO ! Sending Fox reps your way !✌
8:24 not the place you want your brakes to fail 😅
Have you done any videos for heavy riders on Carbon vs Alloy eMTB's? also full power/mid or low power... just starting to do some research for maybe a next year purchase.
You got some skills man,you are an inspiration to me.
Congratulations dude.
Even you're big and large, you got skills man
Love it
Hearing him drop in on those rocks like a mario 64 thwomp.
Never heard the folklore for big folks not to ride carbon. Best thing I ever did was convert. 6'4 and 300ish pounds. Carbon wheels last a long time. Warranty is killer and honestly I deflect aluminum wheels like crazy carbon stay straight even under massive torque

Your bike mtb tremendous Hulk wow! Take care, dude!😊
Can you do a review on the cannibal tires? Hardly anything out there about them
6:35 don't tempt me with a good time ( ͠° ͟ʖ ͡° ). Jokes aside sick wheels, I've heard carbon wheels change the ride a lot and are usually people's favorite big upgrade so maybe in my future!

Are you still running these bro? Got an update
I'm a big guy 300ILbs. how do you manage to keep an air shock on the rear? I've blown out 3 Fox shocks. Nice video on the rims!
Sick vid! 🔥🔥🔥
Carbon wheels providing they come with warranty are the best investment into a bike. 2018 we are one agents still going strong. Gotten more than my money's worth

Sheeessshhhhh boizzz got steez 🔥🔥
Always showing that a big guy (height and width) can rip a bike around! I don't have the height, just the width lol.
So what brand of carbon wheels did you get..and 28 spoke?
@Evan-H Bontrager Line Pro 40, I run 29+. Don't believe they still make that wide rim option now, though.
Is that the Kenevo you changed fork and went mullet???
Imagine 6'2 "awesomeness, you make me breathtaker! YOU amezing Dude! Take care!
Bro what pants are thoughs ? Been looking for a comfy riding pair of pants.
0:45 forbidden milk
Bike companies should be filling your PO box with product to test. If NRMLMTB cant break it, no one can.
Probably why they don't want to send it to him. 🤣 tell ya what though, if they survive, he should get some good sponsorship.

Did you put inserts in the front and rear or just rear?
I love your Channel!
Question about rear shocks I have an air shock on my MTB and was told I should do coil seeing that I'm in the big boy club. What is your take on this?
Hey what bars and stem are you running as a taller dude?
Crackin carbon be crackin.
tbh, carbon wheels are a god sent. They do not plastically deform, which is great for me, as i ride pretty hard on my rims. The amount of expensive aluminium rims I bent, dented, or broke is ridiculous. The only thing I brake now are my spokes, but they are a quick and cheap fix :)
To me, the difference is like a butter knife (Aluminum) vs a steak knife (Carbon)
How much pressure are you running in your shock?
Carbon may be even better for big guys because of the stiffness. Some people prefer alloy because they take out some of the chatter. It depends on the wheel. They make carbon wheels for all riders. If you are 150 LBS don't get the strongest most burley carbon wheel. Your teeth will rattle out.
Great video
What suspension pressure you running front and rear? I have the same ones on my stumpy
20GPa
WAO Unions or Convergence with 32 spokes are plenty strong.
Do you think some of the speed is coming from the better hubs? I definitely noticed a huge difference just on going to a better rear hub.
Your laugh is EPIC jajajjaa
Im 6ft 3 230lbs ive been on we are ones carbon wheels not a problem 😊 and I like to ride steep and chunky trails
You should have inCluded what psi you put you’re tires at
I'm 100lb less than you and you're such an inspiration. Less goofy and super pro.
