With Sam messing about on bikes so much and doing fun/daft stuff it's easy to forget how great a rider he is. That first downhill segment on the Canyon was some amazing riding. Fast, flowing, smooth and stylish. Amazing run!
It's honestly great to see someone living a great life having bags of fun and earning a living in the process. That's a testament to your positive approach to life and hard work man.
Nice, clear comparism video. It is clear now even for me that the 10GBP bike sux, I was laughing on that front wheel folded in half.:) Lewi was also in the shreddy mood, cool!
Definitely upgrade the £10 bike Sam, I'd love to see this comparison again with stronger wheels. Great video as always and Props to Lewie for his great camera work.
Wow that canyon is amazing. Mtb's have come a long way since i had a diamond back ascent 22years ago . £10.000 seems absolutely mental but if i was still riding a bike and had the spare change i would get one in a heartbeat. All the best to you really enjoy the video's you seem like a proper nice bloke.
The whole video is deadly funny as always but take a moment to appreciate how fucking good of a run he head with the canyon that was a pure work of art downhill right there
Around the year 2000 they started making cheap bikes with aluminum wheels, I swear you can't even use them to get around town without taco-ing a wheel at some point lol. Older and newer bikes seem to be void of this issue thankfully! Sick vid as usuall!
It’s just the inherent issue with single wall alloy rims, they have no internal bracing structure to make them stiff or strong, you’ll still find them on some really cheap bikes but yeah you can pretty much fold them in half on potholes never mind trail riding 😂
So many half decent early 2000s bikes with reasonable 26” wheels available at around £100-250 on marketplace definitely be up for seeing vids with these being compared to the high end bike 👍🏼
I picked up an old Raleigh Max III 3x8 spd last year. It weighs a tonne. Swapped out to 11-46T. Slow as hell pootling about in groups. Am I flogging a dead horse here? I definitely don't ride my bike like you Sam!!! It's my first and only mtb.
Another ridiculous test Sam should do is the "Sherpa" MTN bike trail challenge. Is when you put a cheap cargo rack (25 KG) and gradually increase the weight & load or carry all sort of ridiculous junk before you know, the inevitable or; who knows what else could go wrong! Might be a lot of fun! 👍
Hi!I think it would be good to see you improving the cheap bike the best way possible with stuff available in the market and give it a second chance in the track...
Shout-out to Lewi for always getting such sick shots and great editing.. I've seen the improvement over the years and it's really cool to see. Also, when can we get Sam to the real Rampage?? He would definitely be able to keep up with the other riders and I would love to see his choice of lines!
Bit late to this one but I really really enjoy the just straight up session videos. The crazy stuff is great, but you and Louie just out riding is so much fun. Love it.
Nice vids as always! And: more cheap bikes! Please show the previous condition of them after buying first and try to make the bikes stable like by adjusting spoke tension and so on. Would like to see a fresh maintained cheap bike on the trails, also maybe a maintained one vs. unmaintained. Just to see how caring for bikes increases the robustness.
@@SamPilgrimgreat content. Do a 500£ vs 1000£ vs 2000£ vs 10K as a benchmark, and we ll see if there are diminishing returns and where is the sweet spot for every rider. Thanks 👍💪😃
Wow, that first crash was a big one Sam yet still managed with the typical Pilgrim demeanour and the standard "Ow!" The speed you were carrying with Lewi filming from the side, on the road was unreal. Does that bike feel a little tail heavy compared to the others you ride? There seemed to be a lot more rear wheel down air time and landings like the rebound wasn't quite on the right setting or you were trying to set up for manual landings. When you were following Lewi, he was sending some absolute bangers there and his speed was certainly impressive. As usual his camera work was amazing and his ability to remain focused even when you crash still amazes me, are you sure he hasn't had secret service training to be that good and not laugh at over the bar moments? Great video. 😎👍
Literally hired a Canyon eeb and did this exact Surrey Hills up AND downhill line! I can confirm that climb and descent is way gnarlier than it looks even on video (regardless sick filming Lewi!) !! Would have hated to be on anything less 🫨
Actual LOL on your first beef! Thanks for more laughs. Maybe your new elbow pad sponsor is watching. Maybe do a Top Gear style road trip, (bike ride in this case) where you and your mates buy a specific kind of bike for a journey for which they are not intended.
I used to rock the local jumps on my £99 Apollo Scorpion back in the 90's, going up against the local legends on their £500+ bikes, and still nailed all the jumps. An expensive bike doesn't make you good, practice does. But also, when you mess up, the extra coinage does help. ;]
Now that he has the sponsorship with Canyon I really would like to see what he can do on a cross-country bike. I mean with them getting more and more capable it just has to be done by the king himself.
Comments 213 The sound of Sam slamming is terrifying, that 10£ bike with skinny pieces of metal holing it together is worrying. That's me though As a kid I stacked hard for racing in an indoor carpark with no brakes fractured skull concussed hospital for a while lucky BMX Beat was on at weekends on the ward. I think that ten pound bike is the peak of the super light era.. mid 1980s. that is when messengers in NYC with fixed gear giant front rings hauling ass thru the traffic. It is fun for freestyle.. but at my age now, the 85 pound (that is weight ,not money) mountain bike at 1500w is the champ to me. Not sure I could ever be a fan of mid drive, or carbon.. let alone paying 10k pounds (12k american?) I capped at 1500 bucks or less...and heavy fat tires.
Hey Sam, love the vids! I have a bmx style bike but I am trying to get a bmx bike. What kinda of mtb bike do you recommend for more street use and not as much off road and also should it be a hard tail or full suspension? Also something that’s good for wheelies

Totally agree with this, that section was super smooth and make me immediately want to look for a trail near me

Woah imagine Sam Pilgrim raw 100 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
he was going so fast i could hardly comprehend how he didn't crash. He's one hell of a rider.
yeah he's crazy good

10,000 hours rule is clearly in play with Sam. He's probably got 20-25K hours on MTBs.
