- £10000 Mountain bike vs £275 Budget MTB! I put the 10k Canyon Strive ON electric MTB against a cheap Ammaco bike that cost £275 in the january sale by riding MTB trails, jumps and send tricks! But how long will it last?
The head to head bike challenge is back and this time Canyon were lovely enough to supply me with a top of the range Canyon Strive ON CFR electric mountain bike that is aimed at the gnarly world of enduro. And in the opposing corner we have the £275 Ammaco mountain bike which is about as cheap as you can go with a bike before its too dangerous to even consider. For today's video we head to Woburn Bike Park in the UK to find some big jumps and technical trails. But how different can these two bikes really be?

Strip the frame... Do a budget build with upgraded wheels and forks. Derailer the works keep it under $1000 including purchase price see what you end up with! 👌🏻👌🏻

10k for a bike is crazy money. sure its a decent bike just mad.
When I was looking for a new bike the £2500-£3500 price point seemed to be a nice sweet spot for anyone who does MTB as a proper "Hobby" and they just want a good quality bike, that you can use everyday on the trails and it won't fall apart. To be honest that's still a chunk of change to part with though, especially if you have bills to pay and a family, bike prices are horrendous at the moment. I paid £3000 for my Intense in a sale (It had a £1000 off) and I ride it about 3x a week and it's a dream to ride, but I still stare at it and think "Could've used that cash to put towards my kitchen extension". :-D
who the fk is even willing to pay that for a bike man even if I was rich I wouldnt and I love mtb and road

I was about to comment the same, but you said it way better. Sam could ride a bed frame with skateboard wheels better than I could ride a 10 k bike.
It's actually not that great an advert as although it far outclasses the cheapo bike it's not enough over a medium price steed to justify the cost. Not that anyone needs justification to purchase what they want

Great vid as always but one is a E-Bike!! not the best match-up for a comparison on performance. how about another vid eventually on this but compare Canyons cheapest bare bones model Versus there most expensive no electric bike. Maybe with anther Canyon rider sponsor with you. be sick for both you and Canyon! you both have the same bike and same challenges. Just a idea!!! I was pumped to get that mid week vid!!!

For a beginner like me with not much "big" stunt trails near me, my 90's mountainbike is holding up pretty well so far! I only managed to bent my rear wheel a little, but I just keep on turning the spokes and readjusting it until its time for a new wheel 😂
90s mtbs (name brands) are still in a better league than cheap box store or Amazon bikes

There's a reason those kind of bikes have those warning ⚠️ stickers...they are made in bulk in china and the reliability is quite shit...I live in japan and there are bikes by the side of the road that have broken and just abandoned.... buying a quality bike does pay off for sure but the prices these days are outrageous... With Sam's level of expertise in bike shredding, I believe that he can control the way he does certain manoeuvres such as high speed turns and flares, in such a way that he can destroy the back wheel whenever he chooses by putting more stress on the wheel on purpose.

Picked up a boardman mtb off a scrap van for free while at work. Been out a few times at bedgebury, need new bearings on rear but otherwise ok. Well except the 27.5 tube i put on my 29s 😂😂 im bouncing everywhere 😂

Given that Sam changes his bike more often than most RUclipsrs change their underwear, and given that the poor person that can only afford the Ammaco will ride it for years, I would say that the typical Ammaco is a better bike than the heavy Canyon thing. Besides, you can't park that Canyon thing outside Aldi whilst you pop in for some pineapple chunks and a Pot Noodle as there is the risk of theft or a runaway shopping trolley might scratch the carbon fibre. The Ammaco has none of these concerns and is a better buy. You can buy 36 of them for the price of the Canyon thing. Assuming theftage every six months of the Ammaco thing, because some local crackhead burglarises the shed on the regular to then spend the rest of her time in jail, you could replace it 35 times and be riding for the best part of two decades, by which time the Canyon thing will be well past its warranty period and therefore not get the over the air firmware upgrades needed to keep the battery from not exploding.

I’d like to see a surron vs talaria trail riding challenge. I would sure hope talaria would hook up the legendary Sam Pilgrim, would be great advertising for them too.
Good thing would be to compare in this way, but with Strive:ON cheapest build to this one, to see how much that extra 2-3k is worth ;)

It would be really interesting if you tried the Voodoo bazinga for a test like this as it has been rated the best bike for under a grand for many years now, how well does it actually handle? How robust is it really? It would be great to see your opinion on how good it really is, or isn't, it would help alot of people out as many buy the bazingo as a recommended first mountain bike
