can you tell me what drill bit size for the pickguard and what size for the beveled drill bit? I'm going to try to make a custom one myself too

did you pre-drill any holes in the guitar body to accommodate the pick guard mounting screws?

Yes, always pre-drill your mounting holes, then soap your screws. They will go in much easier and you will be less likely to strip out.
