- Binky should need no introduction, but in case it does go visit @Bad Obsession Motorsport to see the build in it's full excessive bracket detail. Here Nik Blackhurst fires up Binky to demonstrate that yes it runs but the map... needs work.
Nik & Richard brought Binky to the Historic Rally Festival at Weston Park on Sunday 16th October 2022. The Festival is a celebration of classic rally cars, which can be seen in action throughout the weekend at various locations near Telford. The video is a compilation from the circa 5 minutes that Nik ran the car in the morning.
For those that like to speculate - no, Binky is not finished. Nik had to reassemble the car for the show, even then parts were missing on the stand and Nik fired it up only a few times as the map is not sorted, idiot lights on the dash were not wired up and safety cutouts in the ECU are not implemented. Once finished, A proper rolling road session is needed to sort out the map so it runs properly. The fuel pump needs to be swapped out (you'll hear it). And the paintwork is as it was off the gun - it's not yet been polished so you might see a few scratches. None of this stops the car being awesome in the metal - you missed out if you didn't come and see it!

If you're not familiar with the build, go look at it in further detail... The whole thing is obsessively well planned and executed :-)
With the flip front sitting on the grass and the door card removed there is less on the car than last time I saw it

Seriously though, I have concerns that there is not enough room behind the radiators for the waste/hot air to escape and freash/cooling air to pass through, meaning Binky might overheat. For an analogy, consider Betz Law.
Honestly - it probs will overheat in certain conditions but consider Binky's Law. The law of "That's a ridiculous thing to do. OK lets do it".
How can anything overheat in England ???

That sounded like big end knock on startup to me....
And stopped as soon as o/p built up?? Lets hope it was detonation and it goes when tuned.🤞

Project Binky E30 sees them recon the engine so they have been through it - by through it I mean every conceivable component has been scrutinized and improved upon if needed. My money is on the tune then👍

Why is it revving like this, can't you keep it at one speed?
The map (tune) on the car is very basic at the moment, you can clearly hear the idle speed changing, the idle is "hunting". The guys will sort this I'm sure when it gets its proper rolling road tune.

Looks like the only change to the car since it was at Weston Park the previous year is that the paint work is now full of swirl marks and fine scratches. Can see in some of the videos since it was painted that the car was absolutely covered in workshop dirt and metal particles. What a waste of all the effort that was put into the paint job.
The cold starts and revving of the freshly rebuilt engine while it's still only on a rough base map and not even run-in will really not be doing it any good either.
Seems like they've just lost all motivation for the project. What a shame.
Obviously has some kinks to work out.
