    Dear Rosalie, my experience with valerian root has been positive. I have the cool constitution that you spoke of. When I’ve taken it with Passion Flower, it works amazingly. I had spent years with an awful sleep pattern. I would fall asleep, then wake up in the middle of the night, and stay awake for hours. I would feel really sleep deprived the next day. Occasionally, I’ll still have a bad sleep night. But not often. I like to take magnesium and potassium at nighttime, as well. Valerian root works well for me, I’m glad nature provides such an interesting pharmacy.

    I am suffering of tinnitus since this Febroury and Valerian tincture is really helpful when I take enought before sleep, it can give me a good sleep, which is hard with tinnitus and also a reletivly quiet day the next day.
    I admire the plant and would love to grow it now that I know it helps me a lot.
    I also mix it with sound therapy, so not on it's own, and it helps a lot.
    I started using valerian like a week or two ago and this becaouse I became depressed from the tinnitus and the valerian does help me see life more positive and not fall into sadness and crying.

    Great video. Valerian (2ml tincture) works with my restless leg (and arm) syndrome. Reishi mushroom, wild lettuce and ghost pipe also work for me. I rotate them. After i finish one two ounce bottle I switch to another one, then the next and so on.

    One of the "Perfumes" mentioned in the bible is Spikenard (Nardostachys jatamansi,), the essential oil of which is rare and incredibly expensive. The odor of Valerian is extremely similar to the odor of pure Spikenard. Both herbs have been used in the formulation of exotic perfumes. Rosalee, you are personally rather charming, and I enjoyed this video. I subscribed!

    Thank you for this Rosalee. I am one of those who seems to get the stimulant effect from dried valerian root. I thought my relationship with the plant was over until you supplied this information about using it raw instead. I’ve been using it quite happily ever since. Wonderful! Very grateful to you.

    A number of years ago I was suffering from insomnia and decided to try valerian and then also hops. Have you heard of people having bad vivid dreams from drinking valerian tea or using hops in tea? Valerian was very much a stimulant for me, I was in 'high gear'. Years later I am back to using chamomile with lemon balm tea as part of my winding down night time routine. Breathing techniques and yoga. Thank you very much for all the hours of knowledge and work that you put into these videos. Namaste

    I am amazed on how something so stinky, can help me sleep so well with RLS and ADHD. 😂 Also crazy how it has a rather short half life, which helps a lot for folks like me who get pretty groggy or headaches on sleep aids. I personally don't use the tinctures, because it works well enough as a tea.

    I made a tea with dried valerian root. I think I used a teaspoon of the dried root. Well… that was definitely way to much because it caused my pulse to drop into the 50bpm. It scared me so much that I was awake all night. I have since taken a drop or two of my tincture and did not have that kind of reaction.

    This is where my attempts to focus on energetics go awry. And yours too, Rosalee, I think? On the one hand, the admonition to focus on the whole person not the symptoms but then a long list of all the ailments relieved by valerian root. Anxiety and sleep, muscle tension and pain, spasmodic coughing, digestion ... It would be very helpful to understand better how to make a tincture or infusion for, say, a person who is warm and dry and suffers from indigestion, tension and headaches. Or someone who is cool and damp and cannot sleep as his brain is spinning 1000 thoughts a minute.

    • @HerbsWithRosalee
      @HerbsWithRosalee  2 года назад +6

      I hear what you're saying about the seemingly contradictory information of choosing for a person but also a general listing of symptoms. For me I often think about learning about herbs like the focus on a camera lens. At first everything is very blurry, but as you get to know the plant more and more, things become more focused. Valerian, is generally helpful for anxiety and sleep. So that's helpful to know. Things are a bit clearer with that knowledge. But valerian also has a specific energetic profile that needs to be matched to a person and not ONLY to symptoms. That's also important to know. And with that valerian comes into sharper focus. Of course working with the plant yourself helps you to understand it even more. I love the plants. I love forming relationship in getting to know and experience the plants. That's why my teachings are plant based. Others may prefer a more clinical approach where the herbs are simply a pharmacy in which to work with patients.

      If you've had nightmares for that long, you probably have some past traumas to deal with. Usually these are locked away in the subconscious, and is our way of dealing with such emotional events. These mostly stem from childhood up to late teens. I've heard meditation is a great way to bring these traumatic events out into the present, so they can be dealt with.

    When you mention someone feeling hot or cold are you talking about someone that deals with night sweats vs someone that doesn't?

    • @HerbsWithRosalee
      @HerbsWithRosalee  3 месяца назад

      That's a great question! Night sweats are an indication of something but we call it false heat and is often more related to dryness. The best analogy for this is a car that has run out of oil. The symptoms of this is a hot smoking engine, but the cause is lack of moisture or the dryness caused by insufficient oil.

      Hi there,
      Here are some ways you can find herbs:
      1. Search for herbal apothecaries near you.
      2. Visit Rosalee’s listing of herb farms and wildcrafters within the US and Canada to find fresh herbs near you. www.herbalremediesadvice.org/Herb-Farms-Wildcrafters.html
      3. Visit Mountain Rose Herbs, an online apothecary that sells high quality organic herbs. They are Rosalee’s first choice for herbs she’s not able to find near her. bit.ly/2KXdWIA

    When buying capsules they should be dark and smell pungent. I bought one brand that was light in color and didnt have that earthy smell. Could be a younger root or worse yet...even though this brand brags of no fillers I wont use that brand now. The capsules did not produce the muscle tension and mental tension release I have come to live from this plant.
