My workbench: www.homedepot....
I love how you just jumped right in and started showing the items, and then you moved so smoothly to the next one without any filler ! You got right to the point but in a friendly, helpful way. 🙏🏻
Thank you so much for the kind words! I truly appreciate them! Also thank you for watching! 🌻
ok, the entry to your vid with the pup in the cart prompted me to do a thumbs up! Love it
Aw thank you! My dogs love their trips to the hardware store! Thank you for watching and liking the video! 🌻
I use a rubber mallet that was a gift from being one of the first people into a sewing festival. It works great for the sewing room. Lighter than a hammer and easier on the fabric.
Great idea! Thank you for sharing and watching! 🌻
I use a wallpaper seam roller, from the hardware store, to press seams at the machine if I'm not ironing right away.
I enjoy using a tackle box to house my sewing/quilting supplies. I bought it many years ago; it has a flip open top, but then the bottom flips open separately and has handy little containers in it which I can use to further subdivide my supplies.
Wow that sounds super handy! Thank you for sharing! 🌻
Thank you for your ideas and presentation. I use the magnetic cup to hold screws, needle plate, little sewing machine screw driver, plastic drop-in bobbin cover, etc. when I clean my bobbin case and area. Even if an item is not magnetic, it goes into the cup to keep everything together. I gave one to my quilting sister for Christmas. “Every Girl Needs One.” She loves hers too.
Thank you for watching and sharing! 🌻they are good to corral those odd bits!
What a great and informative video! I just got the 48” Pittsburgh ruler and a magnetic bowl from Harbor Freight and they have been coming in handy!
That is awesome! Thank you so much for the kind words and for watching! 🌻
I love the inspiration! I'm gonna get a proper work bench now. Sewing tables are crazy expensive, but I found a good work bench with pegboard back, drawers, and a light for less than $200!
Awesome! Thank you for watching. I did put a link for mine in the description, a few folks requested it if you are interested. 🌻
Very good ideas. I could suggest you pick up a wooden wallpaper seam roller. So good for opening seams and point flattening. I think you could do a whole video on all the uses one could find for this small but versatile tool. And it is super cheap!
Good idea! Thank you for sharing. I will have to check it out! I am currently using an old roller that came with some face cream. 😂 that is working pretty well.🌻
I’ve been using one of the magnetic bowls and it is fantastic!
Thank you for sharing! They are great! 🌻
We use that table in our kitchen. Knives in top and cutting boards on second drawer. Thank you.
Great ideas! Thank you for sharing! 🌻
Good ideas. I use a parts bin for my small stuff, thread, bobbins, etc. Works great! Saves space
Thank you so much! 😊 Thank you for sharing the great idea about the bins. 🌻
Thank you for this video! I also purchased an LED light strip that you cut to length and put it under the throat of my sewing machine. The adhesive is great. Also a locking needle nose plier (hemostats in the medical world). Several different handles for my rulers. From hardwood cutoffs I made my own clappers, over 2 inches thick. Cost me nothing. A large drywall square. Etc. Saved so much money and made my life easier!
Wow all great ideas! Thank you for sharing and watching! 🌻
I have the same Home Depot cutting table by Husky. I chose the version without the drawers as I thought they might get in the way if I used the table while seated. I chose white just like you did. And the price was about $100 cheaper than a similar item at Ikea.
How neat! Thank you for watching and sharing! 🌻
I love the hardware stores or depts!! You have given some ideas even U didn't know about. I subscribed & look forward to catching up on youe previous videos.
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing! 🌷
Thank you for sharing your ideas 🤗❣️ I really really like the baby Kobalt tool box!
One handy item I found a Home Depot was a baby hammer-it’s the perfect size & weight for precision pounding plus it doesn’t take up as much space. And I sometimes use it to place a grommet or snap or even a key fob in, for that I use a small piece of scrap muslin to cover the metal to prevent scratches or dings. I also use a small clip on rechargeable headlamp style flashlight by Night Ize for extra hands free light when doing detail work-it has 2 light settings, a red light, and a flashing red light, you can also “charge” a glow-in-the dark fabric design quickly to check out the effect-I also carry one in my pocket for those times I need a bit of extra light or am in a fabric store and want to check out glow-in-the dark designs. My only other possibly helpful idea is I bought a small inexpensive pocket sized rechargeable black light flashlight by Anker from Amazon-it’s really helpful to see the white on white or cream on cream designs or the glow-in-the dark parts of a fabric design.
Thank you again…..
Thank you so much for sharing all of your great ideas and for watching! 🌻
@@ginnielynn your most welcome 🤗❣️
Love the mini Kobalt tool chest in so many colors. $20 on Lowes website. Just adorable and functional. Harbor Freight has many of these items too.
I find the magnetic bowls handy for quilting travel. No stray pins and needles. And dropped pins are easily retrieved from the floor with it. I keep it in a plastic bag with seam ripper and small scissors.

Great video. Thank you. 😊

Great Ideas! Thank U
You’re welcome! Thank you for watching!🌻
I have that same work bench! Right now I use it as part of my desk for work. But it is a great cutting surface. I love this table.
Thank you for sharing! It is great! Love the flexibility! I have it paired up with my other table in the room now to finish up my collage quilt project. 🌻
Those ideas are brilliant! Thank you for posting this video. I came across your channel at random but now I'm going to explore what other videos you have. I love finding new ways to do things, especially when it comes to sewing. Subscribed!
Thank you so much! 🌼 I am so happy to hear you liked the video! Thank you so much for watching and subscribing! 🌻I really appreciate it!
The magnetic tray, got mine at a garage sale for 50cents or a dollar.
DEFINITELY wanting a rolling tool chest for all my sewing crafting tools.
Wow! It’s the best when you find a great bargain! Thank you for sharing and watching! 🌻
That large ruler is a great idea. I use my dining table for my cutting table so, it will definitely work for me. I shop at Lowe's (it's closer to my house) and I also have the Kobalt toolbox🤩. I also use painters' tape too. I love your work bench. I would have taken that route if I had thought about it. My husband made my sewing table for me. I also bought insulation foam for my design board. I have one board in each room. Since they are very tall, I put them on their sides. Thanks for the extra tips!😊
Thank you for watching and sharing! 🌻I am so happy to hear it was helpful!
Watching a second time so I can see the intro again.0:11 An adorable dog and pleasant music!🌻 Great supplies suggestions, as well.
🛍️ Also, I want (but may not need) the Kobalt storage drawers. 6:42 I just checked online and all the colors are in stock at my local Lowe’s.
Thank you so much! 🌻 I was looking for an opening and had taken that shot when I was out researching and getting video shots. It was so cute at the time. So was thrilled when the idea came to me on how I could use it and I could make the transition make sense. Thank you for your continued support of my channel ! 🌻 I really appreciate it!
Thank you for sharing the tips. ❤
You are so welcome! 🌻
I'm a potter and I love the hardware store.
Thank you for sharing! 🌻
In Canada I found one at Canadian Tire. It only comes in black but that’s what stickers are for 😂
What good news! Thank you for sharing! 🌻
I LOVE my local Harbor Freight store for sewing supplies...It's like a candy store to me! Small ratchet screwdriver for removing the stitch plate; Seam roller in the paint department, tool bag (on sale with a coupon for $11; small round brushes for getting into crevices for lint. Lots of goodies for sewists there!
Thank you for sharing! 🌻
Small ratchet screwdriver…what a great idea! We all know how small the vertical space is in the stitch plate area.
Harbor Freight is my favorite place for storage. I love the black containers that are $2.99. They have a clear front that tilts open and they stack. I store pins, clips, needles (for my machines), etc. Also, the screw and bolts drawer containers are perfect for buttons or hardware storage. I only quilt for bags.
I have several of the parts magnet trays, they are often on special. Those magnets actually hold pins instead of the fancy plastic ones in fabric stores for nearly 5 times the price!!
Me Too! I bought the magnetic bowls from there for $2 each on sale. My long arm has metal bars and metal sides. The magnets on the bowls are really strong and have never had them fall off or any of the needles or pins fall off. Also great for putting the screws from the needle plate when cleaning or clearing the needle/bobbin area.
And I also bought small, stubby screw drivers from there.
BTW, I just subscribed!
Good stuff! Thank you!
Thank you so much!🌻
I need the magnetic bowl...the bigger the better. I have a tendency to fling them somewhere in the general area of my small magnetic pin cushion and then picking them up from all over the floor and table for where I missed
I flung a clip at the magnetic bowl yesterday. It grabbed it and in it went. It was pretty cool. 😀Thank you for sharing and watching! 🌻
Wow! Thank you!
Thank you for watching and your kind words! 🌸
👋👋 great ideas. ❤ your blocks behind you. Just stumbled onto your channel - so new subscriber
Thank you for subscribing and watching! 🌻
I put my magnetic bowl on top of my Kolbolt drawers for extra metal bobbins when working on a project so they are right beside me.
Thank you for sharing! 🌷
I use a soft bristle paint brush to dust the outside of my sewing machine.
Thank you for sharing and watching! 🌻
Love your hints about the hardware store! I am off to get several of the items that solve a problem I am having in my sewing room. FYI … not a complaint but just wanted you to know that when a viewer is using earphones like AirPods your intro is in Stereo but your content only comes out of the left speaker. I thought it was my AirPods but when I watch other channels the sound is balanced. I have noticed this in the past with other RUclips channels so it must be some way the content is recorded or edited for RUclips.
Thank you for the feedback much appreciated! My mic settings must have reverted back. I’ll have to make sure I double check before posting again. Thanks for letting me know! Truly appreciate it. 😀So happy to hear you enjoyed the video! 🌻
Rather than a hammer I use a leather mallet…less likely to damage fabric
Thank you for sharing and watching! 🌸
I have a small craftsman hammer with a plastic head in my toolbox! Found it at a yard sale years ago! I had my own toolbox for many years to keep my stuff separate from hubs ! He wasn't a great DIY person 😂 Same with wallpaper roller ! Love my tape too! 🎉
Thank you for sharing!🌻
Jealous for that bench too!
Aw! Thank you! If I come across something similar in the UK 🇬🇧I’ll let you know! 🌻
Do not get that round magnet bowl, it makes the pins stick straight up into your hands. Get the rectangular one.
Thank you for sharing! Good to know! 🌻
I sooo wish we’d could buy such a long ruler in the UK. If anyone has a source over here please tell us!
I lived in London for two years and have a friend who’s a fellow quilter in the UK. I’ll check with her and see if she has any sources I could share. Thank you for watching !🌻
Don’t need a full sized hammer. A small tack hammer will flatten those seams and fits nicely in with your other notions.
Thank you for sharing! 🌻 I typically use my tack hammer as it is easier to store.
Put a 3M hook on your new metal ruler, easier to hold and grip….and fingers up out of the way 🤗 you could also put grippers on the back so it doesn’t slide
I shared that idea in this video I posted a few months ago. Must Try Quilting Ruler Hack #shorts #quilting
ruclips.net/user/shortsDYEZQWY447w?feature=share. Thank you for watching and sharing.
@@ginnielynn Ah, so you have…..glad you found out about it! I’ve been doing it for over a decade now and love 3M hooks.. I use them on my machines too, 3 of them… 1 to hang my scissors/snips, and 2 slightly apart for my seam ripper/awl to rest on so they don’t all run away! 🤗🤗🤗
I do love it. I find it’s hard to hang it with my other rulers, since the hook adds some bulk, as I have limited space. Curious, how are you storing them?
@@ginnielynn I have 2 large pegboards full of all my rulers… but yeah, I do have to hang those ones at the front because of the hook, and I mainly have them on my little square rulers, so I leave them out on the cutting board arranged prettily 🤗
I used to take my Yorkie every where even hardware stores he loved riding in the cart with his hair blowing back it was some of his favorite times. His name was Rhett Butler yes that Rhett Butler from Gone With the Wind!! I really like the Kolbalt tool box great idea!! Thank you!!
Thank you for watching and for sharing about Rhett Butler! 🌻 How sweet! 💕
You didn’t tell everyone that your work table is a Husky work bench. I have one and it’s my sewing table.❤
Thank you for sharing and watching! 🌻
Ginnie Is your Husky cutting table 30" Deep? What are it's dimensions? I am searching on Home Depot for it.
It is 24" deep and comes in several sizes. If you do a search on the Home Depot website for "husky adjustable height workbench", you should find them.
Here is the link to the one I have.

I use old worn out toothbrushes
Thank you for sharing! What a great idea! 🌻
I don’t like the lint brush with my machine so I use a softer makeup brush.
Great idea! Thank you for sharing🌻
I use a rubber mallet instead of a hammer to flatten my seams. Same principal, but the mallet was already on hand or I would have used a hammer.
Thank you for sharing! 🌻
Can you put a link to the table you have
Thank you for watching!🌻 I added it to my description. Here it is as well. 😀www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-52-in-W-x-24-in-D-Steel-2-Drawer-Adjustable-Height-Solid-Wood-Top-Workbench-Table-in-White-HOLT5202BJ2/311742117
@@ginnielynn thank you! 😀
You’re welcome! 🌼
I got a long metal ruler from the hardware store but I can't get the glue off from the label, so it is too sticky. I can't use it on fabric yet. Any suggestions?
You could try using some nail polish remover on a cotton ball. That’s what I use for stick labels. Once off I give it a good wash in the spot to get rid of any residual acetone. 🌻
Try “Goo Gone”…hardware store has it.
Rubbing alcohol should work also.
Before removing labels/price tags I blow dry the item on high until label heats up and I can easily peel it off. If that fails I use Goo Be Gone which isn't cheap but is effective.
If you have anything with orange oil try that, or a non abrasive kitchen cleaner
Do not use pain brushes to get lint on your sewing machine! All it does in compress the lint I to the crevices in you machine!!!!!
Thank you for sharing and watching. 🌼
Same as the brush that comes with your machine.
Thank you for sharing! 🌻
Thank you for sharing! 🌻
I use a bent pipe cleaner to get lint out near and under bobbin mechanism
