I’ve noticed that Grotrian uprights really do sound like grand pianos. This one is particularly fine a a tribute to the technician responsible for prepping it. Awesome playing as well so congrats on that. The larger Schimmel uprights are fantastic too but I think Grotrian have he crown.
Excellent, in tune and proper playing of a suitable demo piece, this is how it should be done! (Because of this, I would visit and recommend your store.)
Hello Steve, as a premium brand and top-of-the-line model, it is more expensive than most uprights. The price really does vary around the world with different import and distribution costs, and with YT being worldwide, I'd have to give out wrong information. In the US, the current Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (February 2020) is $49,000.
One of the best uprights in the world. Note to pianists: when demonstrating a piano, especially on video, avoid anything too fancy. Simpler tunes make it much less difficult to discern the tone of the instrument. I’m not interested in your playing skills. I’m interested in the piano.
Wow, this pianist is a real asset to the store.
Amazing playing! Piano sounds like a Grand. ❤

imo schimmel uprights have the absolute best sound. try ti listen to the c120 for example! too bad they cost 5 times a same size japanese piano...
If we’re to judge by this Model ALONE, it is up there with Steingraeber, Bechstein and Saüter.
Big props to Sauter, too. These are amazingly surreal instruments.
My compliments to Derek, but bravo to your tuner/technician. And the voicing is incredible for an upright.
Awesome playing. Awesome piano.
Tried one of these a few years ago before I ended up buying a kawai gx3. The sound blew me away… would love to own one.

Unbelievable sound👀like a grand piano
This is an amazing piano.
Vive Grotrian !
This piano would have a much larger bass sound than is recorded here - excellent maker.
Super, that Derek. Thanks
this derek vann. hell of a pianist!@ cute too.
May I know the name of the piece. Thank you
It is also in the video notes, but the piece is a selection from Mephisto Waltz No. 1 - Franz Liszt.
Wow, knew it would be Listz. So striking!
@@PianoWorksAtlanta thanks!

Purity of tone is awesome. I would bet this upright has no Chinese parts or workmanship.
"Grands are overrated"
the piano sound it's no good... you should play other brands
You should buy yourself a nice Casio keyboard.
